    Pete tells it like it is and in a way that even younger people can understand. His enthusiasm even rubs off on me and I am 74. Keep up the great work.

    Hi Dave. Well what a guy Pete and all of the team are building such a massive 00 model railway for us all to see and enjoy 😊 I’ve just booked tickets for Saturday the 27th April 2024 👍🏻

    Great video, great layout. This layout should be on permanent exhibition in its full form. With so many massive unused barn type industrial buildings just empty and redundant, isn't about time that Pete and other major layout owners got together to make a permanent model railway exhibition, perhaps a bit like the National Railway Museum or Pendon? Just a thought.

      Miniatur Wonderland in Hamburg seems to be doing alright. A proper permanent home for all the Making Tracks layouts, in a location families can get to easily, that ought to quite possible, right? Especially if one keeps the visitors-get-to-drive aspect of it all!

      A UK Miniature Wonderland would be amazing I think, and get more people into modelling. Hamburg is on my bucket list, but don’t know when I’ll get chance to get to Germany.

    I'm pleased to see that you and your team are extending making tracks, 200 plus feet . Will be an awesome size. Hopefully, i will get to the NEC to see it next year. Seeing 1 2 and 3 all put together at Milton Keynes was brilliant. A great, friendly team you have got with you keep it going a d thanks Lee

    Thanks for making these films Dave, I have watched them all and really enjoy them. Inspired me to visit Chester in August to see MT3 and was pleased to meet a couple of the team, felt I knew them via your efforts. Thanks, Nick

    Can we please have passengers and activity on the platforms. It would make so much difference. Mums and kids would love this. Surely easy to recruit someone for that task and cost very little.

    My self made platforms were made as best I could to mimimise the passenger loosing coach to platform void. I ran a Bachmann 08 along to have its wheel links catch under the platform overhang and break. My Hornby 08 passes the same way without catching.

    ???.
    Wasn't James May's outdoor railway that ran for miles substantially longer than 208ft ?
    Other than that I am glad I found your channel.
    Well done indeed 👏🏼

      james may's outdoor railway was for a Guinness book of records entry, it was not a actical layout ,it run for 10 miles on the trackbed of the disused line from barnstaple to bede in devon and was taken up as soon as the attempt was run

    Will the watford curve to Bushey turn right looking south as per the real thing or left using modellers licence....i wasnt sure how Pete described the plan for this???

    Am looking forward to see how this progresses. That class 325 looks scarily accurate, is it just a 4 coach single unit or is it 3 units like they have on the WCML quite frequently making a 12 car

    Watford Jct is only 110mph running around the curve at the south end and 115 EPS through the tunnel on the down.

    The railway gets bigger and bigger but it's a job and a half to see it. MK was a struggle. Anyhow, you go from strength to strength and I'm sure the NED will be another great success.
    How do you prepare the station platform templates. I have my own challenge and your method of mapping out the railway looks promising.
    Can you help?
    Bob

    First of all Dave can I thank you for all the hours of dedication you have put in on capturing all the Making Tracks developments, its been truly fascinating especially for those of us unable to visit the shows. I'm in the process of planning a large scale WCML layout myself, just now waiting on building the large garage required! The plan is to build a 4 track oo scale mile loop so two straight scenic sections of around 25-30 feet with both return ends covered, no visible tight curves so many similarities with the Milton Keynes and now Watford station plans here. One question if anyone reads this as my maths is terrible and I keep getting different answers! How long exactly would a oo scale mile be in feet? I make it 69 feet and 3 inches. Am I wrong?? Anyway thanks again and I look forward to being inspired further!

    • @johnriley2473
      @johnriley2473 7 місяців тому +1

      I'm not sure of the precise maths but as part of the railnuts team we use the 64 feet (1 layout) as roughly a mile. So anything around that figure.

    • @johnriley2473
      @johnriley2473 7 місяців тому

      To add....a quick calculation is 69ft 4 inches.

    It would be good to to make an extra board that crosses the 4 lines making it into 1 line that goes around 4 times with a flyover to start back at the beginning. That would have to be a world record.
