your videos are honestly my biggest drone flying inspiration. Such a cool (and scary) flying spot. Your videos also feel super real. happy new years :)
Great footage Chief. Thank you for sharing your ship. Sorry to hear you lost your drone during the trial. sharing of lost drone, I lost my drone due to goggle 2 restart at the mid-air; lesson learnt G2 long cable cannot loop or bent or else it gave insufficient power causing G2 to restart.
Yeah, stakes are high every time you fly. Over water it's really do or die. Huge congrats on the new build ! The 50mbps was pretty stable throughout your flights, so maybe the o3 will allow for better penetration around the ship.
Hello fellow guitarist! That is true, better signal on the bridge wings. But there is always somebody there and I would like to be alone when testing my quads.
I think you should stand up on the ladder 2nd/3rd of Towel for better signal and enjoy the flight on the left side of the ship. Oh 1 more thing: idk if the signal will mess up with the Radio link of the ship??? Curious.
True, I would get better signal up there. The only thing is that I do not want anybody to be with me when I test my quads. Based on my experience, the radio antennas and the RADARs do not have any interference with my rc and video link. One thing I can confirm is on analog video system the multipathing is extremely bad when flying close to the ship
maidening a drone over a ship would be pretty stressful, even after I've maidened dozens of drones, you never know what can go wrong. I've gotten desyncs on maidens for instance before from shitty escs with trash settings and incompatible motors especially would be brutal.
This is not an actual maiden. When I travel to and from the ship, I dismantle all my quads just to avoid unwanted attention when luggauge pass through x-rays. So this is kind of a re-testing the quad after re-assembly.
My airmode is on a switch. You can hear it call out when I switch on my radio. But I never switch it off on my big quads, only on my whoops where airmode is always off.
Not much room for an error. Do you have at least RTH setup to have it climb to something like 500m in case your RX gets blocked - that might give you a chance to regain control. Also top desk probably is safer as its not as obstructed by the containers around you. Wonder how you lost the other quads - by the negative buoyancy or by rx loss ?
For all the drones that I bring onboard I don't have GPS installed on them. The only quad that I have it installed on, I lost it at sea(some time around 2017), but the GPS was not the issue. The night before I lost that drone, I dismantled the quad to fix the GPS connector that came lose for some reason. While assembling back, I failed to push the the MMCX connector all the way in to my VTX. The next day I flew and lost video feed after flying about 20 meters away. I thought it was battery sag so I waited for the system to reboot. Next thing I heard was water splashing 😅 The next one that I lost(around 2019) had a failsafe around 10 meters away from the ship. Somehow it was also my fault as I have already observed micro failsafes when I was flying that quad at home. I do not have any DVRs of both times I lost my quads. I was using the Skyzone02s and apparently, the DVR will not write the file if you unplug the battery without pressing the stop record.
@ yes gps wouldn’t be that useful off the moving ship. Failsafe can be setup without gps to have quad climb straight up (before falling into the ocean) It would help to restore control if you get containers blocking your signal
I have been thinking about this for a couple of years now. And yes, the biggest concern would be landing. There is actually a lot of turbulence at the aft (back of the ship). But it would be cool as it would be able to reach longer distances.
Love this content. Thanks for taking us on one of the biggest FPV rushes possible! It’s truly inspiring.
Thanks bro, glad you enjoyed it!
oh man!!! that got MY heart racing and hands shaking for the rest of the year! Such a great vid
Haha glad it got you excited!
This is sick bro keep it up!
Appreciate it!

Oh! That's unfortunate. That's why I also always try to check everything. There is no possibility of a "walk of shame" here lol
I really love this, just the raw experience, by contrast a f'ing poodle on the ground and it is a no flight day for me rofl you are incredibly brave!!
True, that is why I always take a photo of my drone before sending it out. Just in case lol
This had my heart beating harder than the sickest freestyle edit! Soooo much feeling the anxiousness!
Congrats on your persistence and final success.
Thank you so much!!

Thanks, Jan. Haven't heard from you for a long time. Happy new Year!
@@patrixfpv Thanks, happy new year my friend, I've been SO busy lately starting a new business programming as a side hustle. Hope you're doing well 😀
@@jana171 I wish you all the best with your business 🙂🙂
@@patrixfpv thanks a lot 🤘😉🤘
oooh it's a different ship from before, interesting.
Thank you for watching more than one video 🙂🙂🙂
Cool !!!
Thank you!
Happy new year idol🎉
Thanks! Happy New Year to you too! 🎉 Are you from HK?
On the visual check I did notice one big problem. The props are pink! Thankfully, you pulled it off. Whew!
lol!
How come you don't fly from up on the bridge? Would you get better signal there?
Hello fellow guitarist! That is true, better signal on the bridge wings. But there is always somebody there and I would like to be alone when testing my quads.
Also being able to fly it over the cargo is not "safer"? Or you would get in trouble with the crew?
Can you make a custom sound that says: "Sh!t is about to get real". For the arm switch.
no joke your videos helped me get over fear of flying over water - So Sick!
Awesome! Will be watching out for those clips! Cheers!

Nice setup. What is that sound pack on your radio? Never mind just saw your sound pack video.

@@patrixfpv Oh well that's good then! You shouldn't be so nervous then! lol
air mode off dude, especially on a maiden, it can be a major cause of runaways, put it on a switch.

Di you lose GoPros with those analog quads?
Yes, each quad was carrying a session 5. That's where I got the habit of a lot of pre-flight checks.

I wonder if you could fly an fpv wing off the back of your ship, hand launch it then could you land it on a container or something? LOL

The good thing in your situation is that after crash you don't need to go to search and get the drone back..crash =lost
😅
I love watching your videos, but they give me wayyy too much anxiety!!

It is set to auto, max 1watt i believe. You can see the actual power in the OSD, bottom left
