  • Hello my friends!
    After many decades gone by, I am going to try to make an Apple Pie. The recipe is for a thick crust (my favorite part of a pie) and a combo of Granny Smith plus Honey Crisp. In spite of my lack of expertise, I think the pie turned out great. My family will be sooo happy with me! Thanksgiving is this week so what better way to celebrate than to share with you, my internet family, the adventures of preparing. Absolutely LOVE peeling the apples on my apple peeler/corer from Vermont Catalog. If you are interested in this recipe, please take screen shots of the pictures I post at the end of the video. Let your imagination soar during this video. For, the fragrance of spices and the aroma of apples is intoxicating. The sounds aren't half bad either. Tee hee.

    I just love your "no talking" cooking videos! I don't eat pie, and have never made a pie crust, so I had no idea making pie crust was such a labor of love. I absolutely love watching you cook - these are my favorite asmr videos from you - thank you so much!

    Whenever I watch your videos, it makes me want to bake, to cook in my kitchen, to be creative and just enjoy my free time. I usually listen to ASMR just for the sounds to relax and sleep, but with your videos, it always fills me with a lot of joy, too. Thank you so much 😊🌸

      @@RebeccasBeautifulASMRAddiction Hello Rebecca, thank you for your quick reply. It's always nice to get feedback, preferably positive, of course. ☺️🌸
      I sometimes use Google Translate because I want to make it more convenient for the recipient. However, I also write in German if I want to answer something quickly.
      UA-cam made it easy with the translation buttons under the comments. Unfortunately, going back to the comment from a notification doesn't work. Then you can't read my German answer.
      Anyway, I use Google Translate for you. ☺️
      I couldn't finish your video, I fell asleep in bed with my headphones on. 😄
      But will do that tonight. Apple pie, delicious! 🍏🥮☕😋
      I love your little house, everything is so cozy and homey. 🪔
      It's only when you're baking something and using the old equipment for stirring that I always have to smile because you're trying so hard. 🤭 But you want to make it as real as possible, like it used to be, even if it takes longer and costs strength. I and many of your viewers appreciate that. That's why we're with you. 😊🌼
      I wish you and your husband a nice weekend and a good and healthy time. ☺️💚🕊️🍀🤗🌻

      @@Namaste3004 It is very thoughtful and kind of you to use Google translate. It saves me so much time. And time is some thing I don’t have a lot of.
      I really do try to create a sense of nostalgia in my videos so I definitely do things the more difficult way. But it is not just for that reason. I think that if I used machines to make the job easier, we would not have a nice sound. I try to stay away from machines. We have enough noise in our lives. Life was more quiet in the past. In my real life, the only exception I make is for blending my mashed potatoes with an electric beater. Potatoes come out so much creamier. 😁😁

Your kitchen looks like the perfect place to drink tea or coffee and chat, in a warm and comforting environment. So cosy! Your pie looks truly delicious - I remember how tasty homemade apple pie was, but can't eat anything like that anymore as I have Coeliac Disease and linked food allergies! *sigh* 😪 I see your followers are up to 104K!! I love making apple pie it's my favourite with a nice bit of warm Devon custard or vanilla ice cream. My mouth is watering just thinking about it haha. we have an apple tree in our back garden and last year we got loads and loads of apples. One year we'll have bad year where we won't get many so the next year it usually makes up for it. We take some out for ourselves my mother in law and my mum and then the rest we donate to the local retirement home because all the elderly ladies there like to make apple pies for their grand kids and cooking apples are not cheap now where we live. Also I've heard in the US rhubarb isn't used but I recommend making rhubarb pie it's nice and tart but not too tart it's just right and it's lovely paired with a bit of custard.

    Oh mega WOW!!!
    I'm afraid I got so hooked up with this recipe I forgot to doze off.
    From my angle this looks like a very Olde Worlde Pilgrims recipe from early days of America.
    I love that butter squashing thing with all the tines, it works great. And that apple peeler gadget.
    Both these items are now in my Amazon basket.
    Thanks for showing recipe at the end, I just have to make this pie. A vegan version of course (different type of butter). I like your handy blocks of butter, UK butter is in bigger blocks.
    The 75 minute cooking time seemed long at 200`C, did the bottom pastry crust up in that time? I would have expected it to be soft or soggy normally.
    Great video.
    PS, was concerned about you cutting the apple into your hand like that, tut tut.
    😀😀😀😀😀😀

    • @tinytonymaloney7832
      @tinytonymaloney7832 2 роки тому +1

      @@RebeccasBeautifulASMRAddiction yes, over there you go by degrees F, in uk we use degrees C, so you had 400F, same as 200C 👍

    • @RebeccasBeautifulASMRAddiction
      @RebeccasBeautifulASMRAddiction  2 роки тому

      Oh, okay. I see. So, yes the crust on the bottom is perfect. I peeked. It’s the top crust that needed to be covered up on the edges to prevent being scorched. I also cooked the pie on a lower rack. With this particular recipe, there are lots and lots of apples and a very thick crust. So the heat did not hurt it.

      Yes! Apples definitely shrink. Especially if they are juicy to begin with. Fortunately, the apples in this pie did not get super shrunk. So the end result was very pretty and plump looking. If it’s an apple pie, it better have a lot of apples. 😉
