      Our radio club uses it to take down 50 foot towers. A winch has been added and it makes a real easy job of it. Thank for watching. Your tower work is very impressve.

    I cannot believe you just posted this two weeks ago! I've been looking for anything about remounting a boom. I'm seriously considering buying an unmounted 30' Altec (no upper controls) for $500 then removing a center tool box and mounting it on my dump truck.

      Make sure the long cylinder does not leak. It is a deal breaker, believe me. No controls in the bucket is easy to over come. I am happy to answer any questions you may have.

    Hey @old retired guy Would you mind making a moe detailed video of how you mounted the lift to the trailer, supported it, and braced it. Thanks, and awesome job.

    Was this originally a PTO powered unit? Are you just using the emergency 12v pump?

    • @oldretiredguy
      @oldretiredguy  Рік тому +1

      It was originally a PTO unit that used an emergency 12 volt back up. I have the pump in storage and it is plumbed for the PTO. I run it exclusively off the 12 volt side. I use two deep cycle 12 volt batteries without fail. I even power the winch off the same batteries. It works fantastic. Never lets me down. It is mostly used to lower radio towers and trim trees. I am going to build a gas motor connected to an alternator charging unit for it. I should mention that it is wired to receive a constant charge from the tow vehicles charging system. Please see related videos on my channel that describe the winch mount build and the generator installation. Good Luck and thank you for viewing,. Tom

    I probably guess the reason you built it was to work on ham radio antennas

    Very nice work! It's something I may also be doing. I recently purchased a service truck with this exact style lift on it, but I have no idea who manufactured it. Would you have any information on it?

      Hello Jonathan: Thank you for the kind words. Unfortunately I do not know the manufacturer, and I do not have any additional information on it. I would be really interested in your progress if you could send me a link when you begin.
