It's surprisingly common for people to _not_ have an "inner voice" in their head for their thoughts. And some people even have a completely different voice to their actual one narrating their thoughts - I'm one of those, I have a "voice" though it's actually deeper than my natural real voice and so doesn't actually sound like me very much.

1:37 Not a stereotype he looks like James Holmes, the guy who shot up a theatre showing the Dark Knight Rises. Still a very suspicious shooting since a lot of media channels said he dyed his hair to look like the Joker, an odd mistake to make since the Joker has green hair but James hair was bright orange, and the Joker wasn't in the movie. There was also security camera footage of outside the theatres showing riot shields and other police equipment at the ready before it all took place. Photos of the theatre posted to news websites had the equipment photoshopped out in an update to the articles like a day after they were originally posted. When James showed up to court, he seemed sedated and confused, as if he had no idea where he was. This was major news for like two weeks but once people started questioning the government's involvement there was a complete media blackout on the topic and even now it's hard to find any coverage of what actually happened to James after that.

You are right, peas upside down is because of the lighting, or to be more specific the shadows. Our brains are very good at deciding what is up and what is down by detecting shadows and highlights. It is even more prominent because the rest of the plate hardly has any shadows.
