I installed these on my brand new 2020 polo GT. While they work very well, in exactly 2 years and 1 month, my polo’s battery died. I reckon this was because of the follow me home function. Every time you press the unlock or lock button on the remote, the headlights will turn on for 10-15 seconds. This is when the engine isn’t running. The car’s battery obviously isn’t designed for this. So beware. It’s a great feature but it may cost you. Also, I haven’t installed anything else apart from this switch.
Hi Devashish, that’s a good observation. The headlights do consume a good amount of battery charge and if the engine isn’t running, which means the alternator isn’t charging the battery, the battery will drain charge. But that said, most factory fitted batteries won’t last beyond 3-4 years. If your battery is due for replacement, try an Amaron next time and see how long it lasts.
My polo lights are alway on even in the Off position, this is because of a EU Law to keep lights on in daytime. Will this switch work for my polo even with headlights always on
Hi Zubair. I’ve no clue about that man. Can you check Aliexpress for any UK based customers’ reviews for the switch? That way you can be sure it works. I believe UK car owners also have to pass the annual MOT so this is important.
@ganesh- Sir can you pls explain the most difficult thing in this video. How to open that right side panel without breaking the locks , which you had already opened up for access.
@@GaneshBalan I tried it today with force in the morning without actually reading your post. One of the clips came out from somewhere but was finally able to install the auto-headlight switch myself successfully, thanks to your video. Do share some steps how to change the timing of the coming home & leaving home function.
Hi Navmeet, glad you were able to remove the trim. It is very easy and usually do it with bare hands without any trim removal tools. I’ll share the PDF document on the instructions.
Hi Karthik, it isn’t a VW/Skoda OEM part so there’s no part number associated with it. Your best bet is to check Aliexpress for the part using a VPN and have a friend based outside India to buy it and send it over. Or check on eBay. Chinese vendors are retailing these on eBay.com.
@@GaneshBalan For a Skoda Rapid 2019 with stock Auto Dimming Mirrors and Rain Sensors, it is possible to just source an OEM Auto Headlight Switch without a Sensor module and foresee it to work?
@@karthik_k.j hey, were you able to activate it using oem auto switch in your vento? My rapid is similar, with 17pin and auto dimming, rain sensor and I want to activate auto headlights too
Yeah. The RLS (rain light sensor) on the Polo and Vento are configured purely for the wipers. This module takes care of the headlights and tail lights.
I don’t suppose the RLS has been configured for lighting functions so the wiring to and from BCM to headlights will be absent. Get the 10-pin switch as shown in the clip.
I follow your thread right from the day you got your polo in gujarat to till date Ganesh. Kudos to you on all the mods and self service.
Thanks Vinod. Appreciate it. :)

From where can this switch be bought?
I got it from Aliexpress back then. A lot of local dealers and car modifiers are selling it.

Hi
Where would I get just the module.
Hi Ravi, it’s not available any more when I had checked eBay just now. You get it combined with the switch. Like this:

Bro! 😳 That’s the most simplest thing! Just pull it out from bare hands. Try from the rear side of the panel.
