Good luck
Your "overbuilding" is becoming legendary. But dang it, its awesome too! Stay Safe
What a great look for your chickens...over built is the way to go, especially when the winds kick up...the chickens are officially out enjoying the sun..looks great!!! good to see the kids and Nat drillin and sawing away....thanks for sharing
This is a five star coop for the chickens😊
Natalie, looks like you are serious with your own tool belt.
For some reason I thought you were a city dude. but the saw skills tell me otherwise...you know your way around a construction site....Impressive work.
Hey guys, it’s refreshing to see young folks that take the extra time to reuse instead of throw away. It’s Not cheap Jacob it’s being financially responsible. You’re setting a great example for your children and hopefully those watching your channel. I’m impressed by the thoughtful planning into building your homestead. That takes extreme patience. Well done guys very impressive. I look forward to each video to see what’s next. Great work.
They’re certainly very lucky chickens to have such a nice coop! Great job! Looking forward to the next video!
You need to change the title this is not a chicken coop. This is a chicken Palace, five star resort for chickens.😂 This is built stronger than then some houses, so you just keep on overbuilding. There is nothing wrong with being frugal a penny saved is a penny gained. I can’t wait to see the house it is going to be epic. Blessings to your family.🥰
I wonder how fast he has to build a new and bigger one when these chickens get broody ( if the have a rooster that is ) . Its very addicted the little ones haha .
Another channel, Simple Life Reclaimed, their chicken coop is called the " pecker palace".
The wife and I always look forward to your Sunday video. Great Craftmanship.
Looks great looks better then some people house
I really appreciate how frugal you guys are (reusing, repurposing, making, etc.) but your projects always turn out professional grade. Very nice coop. Looking forward to seeing the hens in production. Thank you for always making my Sunday morning coffee so much more enjoyable. PS: Pupster is getting huge. Love the brindle.
Good morning, how are you guys doing today?I'd like to chicken co-op, looks good keep up the good work.Have a good day guys and i'm gonna bless you all the family to you know the animals and all the animals
Always look forward to your videos great job on the coop
It’s funny ,me and my wife built our chicken coop exactly the same way linoleum and all, everything is insulated and super easy to clean. You guys are doing a great job! Love your vids thanks
Don’t forget roosts for them too♥️
My Lord , this is 5 season chicken ‘s palace , the fancy one ever ❤❤❤😂
Those chickens better lay some awesome eggs!😍🇨🇦
Nice job on the Chicken condo, you two! Or would it be a Chicken Co-op? [ wink wink ] : )
That is a beautiful coop!!
Really nice coop!
You’re not cheap you are frugal. We all have had to piece things together.
Long time no post here, lol, been in hospital for heart surgery and recovery, Doing better and more so watching this build of yours, got a lot of catching up to do so I can see what I have missed, Later
Good luck!🇨🇦
Nice job on the chicken resort clubhouse
❤😊❤😊❤😊
I'd consider a low wattage solar light inside. Chickens oftentimes like to go to light at roosting time and some are too dumb to remember where their house is. When this happens you'll find them roosting in the yard under a security light. Or sometimes, just a lot of feathers in the yard under the security light. Also, try to keep their alcohol intake to a minimum. Otherwise the damn things want to stay up all night playing cards and raising hell.
Man I would love to live in that coop! Well done you guy's! God Bless y'all!
Nice coop. Those chicks should be laying extra heavy with conditions like that. They even get room service! 😂
Love it🎉 so beautiful!
For a beautiful construction, it is recommended to varnish the wood also so that it does not absorb odors from the droppings of the chickens. Less bacteria and easier to clean with a water hose
Love the tool belt Natalie😊 That’s a grand hotel for chickens😕😕😕
So I live in Anchorage Alaska where it gets really cold. Made really cool watering system with pex and circulating warm water. Think gfi tripped and it froze. Then we found these "The Farm Innovator Heated Poultry Drinker keeps water from freezing". Manual watering in winter but will not freeze. Just added floats and connected to 50 gallon barrel. Should not have problems during summer and then do it manually during winter. Beware of frozen eggs, fixed that with 6ft pipe heat tape.
lucky chicks
Coop devil 5 star service Where every chicken comes to layer there eggs..lol..
Wow great job again Jacob & Natalie
Keep up The Rock farming motto everything over built..not to a Price or standard ....
that chicken coop flooring is vinyl and very susceptible to being torn by chicken claws. Linoleum is a much harder surface area and found in tiles or it can be found in sheets at Home depot. We built our own counters for our restaurant with sheet linoleum they are backed with a thin layer of wood. SO, if you end up needing to re-do this project, the material I'm trying to explain would be a more durable surface. . . Love your channel, and I'm 14 yrs behind you (we've had our off-grid property for 14 yrs, my husband is not very motivated to get the projects completed..... needless to say, I wish I could get him to watch your channel to inspire him!!! We do live on our place full time, but life is very rugged!!
I’m I.
Most beautiful chicken house I’ve ever seen!!!
I can't believe the more you and your family keep adding on to your new homestead , and always done right from the beginning , my heart is seeing the finished of you're new home , I still remember the day you moved your family and trailer out there and the work begins but can you imagine , how wonderful it will be to see you're children grow up here , and someday Long in the future bringing their children to see wear they grew up , I can almost see the pride and joy in your and your wife eyes ,God willing of course 😊
I just had a talk with the kids yesterday about how we're the first people to develop this very spot of land. It was nice to see their eyes open wider as they thought about that. The hope is that they eventually will understand that they are the stewards of the land here and can reflect and rely on their experiences throughout life. Thanks 🙂
👍👍👍
👍👍
Hi guys, here in the UK we just shorten linoleum into lino much easier, lino isn't used a lot nowadays but you can still purchase it,back in the day it was really popular. And how many chickens can boast they have a posh lino floor lol.
Nice Chicken Coop you 2 are doing a Awesome job. 😀
Great job and loved the video 😘👍🏻💕💕🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Gallusologists research shows that live edge boards on a coup makes for less stressed chickens. It reminds them of their jungle fowl days.
Great job and continue the forward motion.
hey yall! i want to be online to watch yall train the chickens to use mop and glow! ms. natalie, your statement "everything we do is overbuilt" is necessary to assure that it lasts! i concur with that way of doing...........g
You should put rubber mats down to keep the eggs from breaking
Why not before you burn , burn some scrap pieces of the two different woods side by side just a suggestion, well one thing is it's mighty well built should withstand high winds, snow storms and any predators from getting in, so far so good. Larry
You can use door mats cut in half
Fabulous. Well done. I wonder sometimes using materials for livestock. for the flooring. What if I just bought a bucket of glue took some sifted rocks from the rock crusher and mixed a bunch of tiny pebbles into the cheap concrete glue. Then just troweled the floor in. Very much enjoy your family's work. Thank you for sharing. For it gives me all sorts of oddities clattering around in my head. I might even do that for the roofing to protect the chip board.👍😁
PostScript; I agree with Jacob when he said it might be best to do a test patch first.
Might be harder to clean out the chicken poop with the floor gritty that way. Unless you use a garden hose with a spray nozzle. Could work well on the roof. Thanks 🙂
Are you also getting some goats. They will tear up anything. Bunnies are nice.
Probably not goats, maybe some meat rabbits. We'll see what the future holds. Thanks 🙂
You make everything you build look so easy and it always just turns out just absolutely beautiful. We're you a carpenter in your previous job ?
Electrician, actually. I was an apprentice finish carpenter for about a year when I was 18. If that counts for anything. Thanks 🙂
Better to be over built than under built .
The coop is looking good. Thanks for taking us along.
We're you able to find actual linoleum? Heard it is only made in England now and major expensive. Great job like usual!
To me, it looked like PVC floor. Real linoleum would have been way over his budget..
It's just the stuff Home Depot has. Maybe it's not linoleum I wonder now. 🤔 Thanks 🙂
@@aboulderlifeoffgrid Us old timers (older than you) grew up with linoleum and there wasn't vinyl flooring. When vinyl flooring was introduced people continued to call it linoleum. out of habit. Generally, actual linoleum isn't found or used for most projects due to cost. Linoleum has a "bacteria free" zone on it's surface so it is highly sought out for places like operating rooms.
I am not always a fan of burnt finished wood on the homestead. With burnt wood you not only run the risk of loss at construction but you will continue to live with the concern that burnt wood re-ignites faster and easier than most all other finishes for the life of the project. Just food for thought.
You two are always a lesson in, "git er' done," and a guaranteed smile or three in every video. Many thanx, to all of you.
I'm not sure where you heard that from. But, in order for the charred wood siding to re-ignite, it requires much higher temperatures and much longer contact with a flame source. Appreciate ya! Thanks 🙂
Should have maybe put sled feet on the bottom of the coop so you could slide it around with the tractor, cause now with all that lovely timber it will be heavy
We have forks for the backhoe and designed the coop to be moved by it. And the backhoe is a beast it won't be hard to lift and move at all. Thanks 🙂
@@aboulderlifeoffgrid oh yeah I forgot about that sorry
🐔🐣👍
And I thought homesteaders were rich or richer. My mistake
Hi guys! Great work as always! Are you going to put any type of roofing on top? Would hate for it to get moldy from rain.
Yes, it will be in the next video. Thanks 🙂
Coop looks great. nice job. Will you catch rain water for the birds to drink?
Maybe in the future. Thanks 🙂
Have you got perches for them
They'll go in this week. Thanks 🙂
What about perches for the chickens, and an area for them to get outsde or ru gong t free range them to feed the local wlld life
We'll finish those things in the next video. Thanks 🙂
how many roosting bars will you add inside?
3, maybe 4.
How do you clean it though? It’s driving my husband crazy
We'll show that when the time comes, I guess 😅. Thanks 🙂
Did you do the peak close in
Are you doing any ventilation screens on the coop. Just wondering
The peak is a ridge vent, and yes, we did ventilation screens at the top of one wall. It was in the video, but it was quick, so maybe you missed it. Thanks 🙂
@@aboulderlifeoffgrid Thanks
Now build your mancave and then give it to your wife for her cave
Not "stingy", thrifty and smart in this obama-economy !!!
👍👍👍👍👍
