MAISON” is a cry for help to save the Earth from the apocalypse caused by global warming, environmental pollution and human indifference. It may be too late now to save DREAMCATCHER’s world, but their message is to save ours while we still can.
This is the title track of the girl group’s second full-length album [Apocalypse : Save us]. The title of the song stood out from the get-go since it was hidden through the morse code ‘321124433433’ in the first album teaser. ‘MAISON’ is French for home and it’s referencing our one and only habitable planet, Earth.
In the lyrics, DREAMCATCHER calls out those who pollute or ignore the problem, asking them to start changing bad habits. Dami raps about how people won’t care about the environment until the air is too hot to breathe or the land is too dry to grow.
The line “Please, someone fight for us,” asking the listeners to protect our home in the jungle, polar regions, sea, and desert.
Yoohyeon explained, “‘Maison’ means house in French and earth, our home, is losing itself due to people,” adding, “The song contains Dreamcatcher’s message to people who destroy the environment.”
The second album also includes the song “Locked Inside A Door,” which expresses the strong will to live as an individual rather than meet other people’s standards, and “Always,” a ballad song with a beautiful melody.
In the MV the seven members live comfortably on a heavenly place in the sky. They could be goddesses, they could be the most loyal followers of Mother Earth or they could even be part of the problem. The important thing here is that they all have superpowers and they decided to use them to save the Earth from Apocalypse.
At the beginning of the music video, they are teleported to a wasteland where everything is ruined. The only things left standing are big factories, tall skyscrapers and modern buildings, meaning that the ones in power are causing the destruction of the enviroment. These people are represented with Goat Masks and their followers use other animal masks.
The video has a lot of conceptual imagery, such as a statue resembling Mother Earth wrapped in chains and red smoke, almost like it was bleeding to death. There are flowers around this statue and a SOS graffiti on it.
Gahyeon leads the seven members in order to try everything they can to stop this awful fate. Handong uses portals to travel to the remaining places on Earth. Dami infiltrates the base of these evil Goat-masked beings, hacking security and controlling the drones with her mind. SuA is able to face the Goat Masks and takes down their leader. She said in an interview that she put a nightmare in them. In their first ever series, Nightmare, the seven members were cursed by a spider and became nightmares.
Unfortunately, the damage was too great. They were late and now Mother Earth burned to bones, as if the ozone layers around our planet completely depleted. The symbol behind the statue is a sun cross, which represents the Earth in modern astronomy.
Not long after the members are aware of the reality on Earth, their heavenly home meets the same fate because, just like the humans previously living on Earth, they didn’t do enough to stop it.
And it was such a great coincidence that after a day of the comeback the news came out that some NASA scientists was arrested just because they don't want to Tolerate anymore the ignorance and disobedience of the humans in the earth. Basically they want to warn us.

Hello there! Dreamcatcher are touching on a very important subject here. Maison is French for "house", and they are singing about everyone's house, which is our planet. Previously they talked about online hate, now they are tackling an issue that impacts the whole planet and therefore everyone. Climate change is going to affect all of us, and it is already affecting many people. Island Nations will disappear under the ocean ("Save my home in the ocean"). Ice melts in the arctic and displaces people ("Save my home in the polar"). Forests get decimated by corporate greed and habitats get destroyed ("Save my home in the jungle") and disappearing glaciers and snow packs result in even less water for deserts ("Save my home in the desert").
People have a natural tendency to ignore issues that seem to be in the future - but climate change is here, right now. We can't wait anymore, and it is good that Dreamcatcher use their platform to promote change: "Break your habit now!"
Musically I really enjoy the song. Like in BEcause, the rock/metal vibe is dialed back a bit, but it is still there and highly distorted. The more I listen to it, the more Rock I hear though. I especially like how the pre-chorus and chorus seems to appear out of nowhere, the chord progression in the bridge, and the epic end part. LEEZ and Ollounder have done it again, and the members are just brilliant. Respect!

The song carries a message about the environment, about the fact that we are destroying our planet, our "home", and that we must fight to save it. You should react to the whole album, it's a work of art and the girls each have a solo !

Actually a note !! I'm not a fan of giving lyric videos views, but besides that I think you should react to the song first with the music video! That's the way we're intended to first hear the song so I always think it's a shame when that initial impact is lost - perhaps you could at least switch them around !
