    Thank you for this. I have a 2001 and local shops only want to work on Harleys. I can do oil with no problem, and I did get a lift, but I need to replace instruments, check the coolant, and change the set idle, which is a tank removal. This is great.

      Hello. Thank you for visiting my channel. No, it shouldn't leak out as the diaphragm in the valve should stop it. That said, it's easier when it's empty as it will be much lighter. All the best.

      Hi Ryan. The bars were 16 or 18" (can't recall) and the cables were off ebay (search for universal throttle/clutch cable kit and pick the length you desire).

    Great videos; thanks for sharing!I have a couple of questions..Where can I get a central stand like yours or another that works well with lower bikes like the volusia? What i’ve Seen is either stupidly expensive or very hard to get.My volusia drinks a lot of coolant. What would you advise me to do? If you have any videos on checking the coolant level let me know.Thanks again!

    • @Maraggie
      @Maraggie 6 років тому

      Hello Joao. You're welcome, I'm glad you like them.
      Regarding lift, plenty of lifts on ebay. They're normally between £60 and £100 over here in UK. Just search for "hydraulic motorcycle lift".
      Regarding coolant, sounds like a leak or you're using water that evaporates. If you're using proper coolant, then first thing I would do is check for leaks. It might not necessarily drip on the floor so check all the hoses and connections.
      Checking coolant level is pretty easy. Take the filler cap off and gently squeeze/pump the thick rubber hose below - if it's full then you should see the coolant level going up and down. If you can't see the coolant...top up.
      Let me know how you get on.
      All the best,
      Marcin

    • @JoaoRodriguesPT
      @JoaoRodriguesPT 6 років тому

      Hey Marcin,
      Thanks for the quick and detailed answer.
      The coolant is an issue for me. I'm using a proper liquid and it seems to evaporate every 2 months or so, which seems a lot to me.
      I' think I'm taking the bike to a suzuki dealer to see what they tell me.
      Last time I saw the plastic recipient was totally dry. I mean the minimum and the maximum marks are very close to each other on the lower part of the recipient, so whenever I fill it i try to make it as close to the maximum mark as possible, but from what I've seen every couple of months it dries out, which in my very limited knowledge means there is some kind of problem.
      Thanks mate,
      Joao

    Can the little air pump that you disconnected your fuel lines from go bad and cause the bike to not start?

    • @Maraggie
      @Maraggie 4 роки тому

      Hi. Fuel valve? I guess it could go wrong...not much in it to be honest, you can take it apart... It's just a vacuum operated diaphragm.

    • @aaronshanahan9596
      @aaronshanahan9596 4 роки тому

      @@Maraggie so apparently its called the 2nd air valve. The guy i bought it from must have tried to modify or bypass it somehow. There were two wooden pieces in the lines running from the pistons to the pump, which i'm assuming is what actually makes the pump function. I haven't tested it yet but one of those lines were badly clogged

      @@aaronshanahan9596 How bizarre. I haven't heard about that kind of "mod" if you can call it like that. Let me know how you get on!

    • @aaronshanahan9596
      @aaronshanahan9596 4 роки тому

      @@Maraggie As far as i can tell it was a terrible attempt to bypass the emissions part of the pump. As there are two lines, one from each piston, that feed the bottom part of the pump. Then you have the lines that run to the petcock, the carb and the air filter. It looks like the "mod" gunked up the pump itself causing it to break and make the pump not provide enough pressure to open the valve on the petcock. This is my theory anyway, I will let you know if i find out i'm right.

    What keeps the fuel from spilling out of the tank when you remove the lines and hoses?

    • @Maraggie
      @Maraggie 3 роки тому +2

      Hi. Fuel valve does. It's vacuum operated by fuel pump so unless there's suction from the pump, petrol won't come out. Good design really.

      I have a 2002 vl800 (c50) My Fi light is on and on the display. Does it have a petcock and an fuel pump? Also.. any recommendations on how to address the Fi light. Already changed plugs,ignition could,caps,oil and filter..

    • @Maraggie
      @Maraggie 3 роки тому

      Hi. 2002 doesn't need a petcock as it's vacuum operated (fuel valve under tank). Yes, it does have a pump.
      As for the FI (or rather F1) that indicates that there is an error code stored in odometer. There is a way to display them by shorting pins on a connector that sits on the right hand side of the tank, in the front. I've never does this myself so I would direct you to forums like volusiariders as they've definitely have it described there. If you get a code different from C00 then there is an actual fault. If the code comes up as C00 it means no faults are recorded and the fault is likely with the light itself. Some recommend taking speedo off and checking the connectors underneath as something might be loose.
