Radio Shack's Robotic Banker: Coin-Answering Robot Arm!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 23 вер 2024
- In this video, I take on the challenge of restoring a classic piece of 80s tech: the Robotic Banker from Radio Shack, made by Waco in Japan. This robotic arm picks up coins, drops them into a bank, and then spins a wheel to answer any question you ask. Watch as I replace broken gears, give it some TLC, and bring this nostalgic piece of tech back to life. If you love vintage electronics, robots, or just seeing how things are fixed, this is the video for you. Enjoy the restoration journey!

Thank you. As an 8 year prior employee of Radio Shack from the 80's. I just love you for bringing these videos to us.
GREAT VIDEO !!! ❤
All those functions/movements done by a SINGLE motor ?!
WOW !!! 🤯
I remember seeing these at Radio Shack. I always thought they were just a robot arm to play with. I didn't know it was a bank and Magic 8 Ball in one! Very cool!
The first ever automated management consultant lol
Miss electro mechanical bunk like this, all that animation and multiple movements with a single motor pure genius. Things like this gradually incorporated actual micro controllers and advanced functionality but there is just something charming about a little robot that sounds like a lawnmower... Thanks for sharing!
Yeah, it's a lost art.
I think you should just print out a new answer cylinder label which contains more appropriate answers to your questions and glue it over the top of that original loser answers label! This way you will be able to save coins AND be totally thrilled by the answers you get to your questions. Answers like: You're The Best, Of Course You Will, You Are A Genius, You Can Fix Anything, etc. Thanks once again for the great video Randi. I always enjoy watching you finesse your way into a working successful rebuild/repair. Go You! Fred
Always loved seeing this at Radio Shack as a kid in the early 80s! They had a display that I always played with!!! 😊 Recently I got my hands on a Radio Shack Astro Command.... I love that one!!! 😀
I have one of these! Super fun and great mechanism to analyze the inner workings of.
Great video. So many thanks.... and Please ask again :)
Ahhh yes, Radio Shack. The one place you didn't want your friends to see you. Excellent work. Funny :D hahahahhehhehh 👍
Love it! You are so patient Randi!
The frustration is edited out, most of the time.
What a cool device!
They Legendary...
This Bank is really Cool..!
This robot banker, kind of acts like my bank when I’m trying to get a loan ….🙄
😹😹😹👍🏻
You got a viewer from me Stig Österberg from Dalsbruk in Finland.
Nice. I like Finland.
Sounds like a marketing disaster. Maybe a robotic imaginary bitcoin miner would be a hit now.
Oooohhhh
...perfect definition for "money grabber"!
when I hear about Waco Texas, I think about a particular thing that happened during 1993...
also wow that robot is really mean...
That's what I was getting at. They still exist, believe it or not.
Another great video about fixing a robot i love these robot videos they are so cool and fun i bought a Lambda1 Taiwan made for a bargain new in the box, lol i think that machine is joking with you right ? 😂
Thank you, but I don't think machines joke and sure seem to be right a lot.
@@RandiRain haha yeah they know right ? I am a robot lover myself
thanks for these vids!!! i am getting into collecting broken robots.. they seem very easy to fix or can be used for parts
i hope one day to "trade up" to a Unitree ai dog 🥰
Most of the time they're pretty easy. I've had a few that I wanted to throw against the wall though.
It was totally scamming you! It kept asking you to put just a little more money in, just a little more and it promised an answer THIS time. Except it just kept trying to get just a little more until it saw you were out of patience, then it gave you an answer. What a little stinker! Cute though.
And now look what happened in the end. Radio Shack doesn't exist anymore. Serves them right for scamming all these people.
Question if a Motor cannot be open how do you clean and lubricate it???
Squirt oil down into it is about all you can do.
Where is everyone?
