I hope you will cover Derartu Tulu, the first African woman to win gold in the Olympics. We wouldn’t have seen young legends like Tirunesh Dibaba, Genzebe Dibaba, Meseret Defar and Almaz Ayana if it wasn’t for her.
Thank you so MUCH for this break down. Tiru is my idiol. At times l cry, literally when watching some of her races, I know it may sound stupid but for someone who loves a particular sport, surely they'd agree with me. Please categorise her sister Genzebe
I absolutely understand! Watching Tirunesh run is amazing. Her career is just incredible, so yes, I can definitely relate to what you're saying. I'll definitely look into her sister, she's an absolute beast as well.
The commentator in this video has expressed curiosity why the most accomplished distance runner in history named Tirunesh Dibaba swings her arms symmetrically; he even suggests that it might be a slightly inefficient technique. I think athletes that do much intense training on the track might tend to have a slight degree of asymmetry in their armswing due to the frequent turning required while fighting the centrifugal force while running at high speed. The outside, i.e. right, arm typically swings with slightly greater range of motion and often held in a slightly more open position than the left arm in order to maintain enhanced stability through the turn, I believe. Additionally, since the inside arm must swing at the same rhythm while slightly shorter in its range of motion, this might be why the arm is held at a more acute angle than the outside arm, thus causing the hand to extend slightly higher. Perhaps lighter runners need to do this sort of thing to make up for a slight lack of body mass that would make such slight asymmetry less necessary. I am not sure my guesses are correct in the case of Tirunesh, but it seems worth considering. Also, as we have seen from some African runners, their dominant arm is sometimes held in a lower position due to running habits they developed during a run to and from school while carrying books in one arm.
How can you give her a 9 for running range if she ran the 3rd fastest all time I think her score should should be at least 98 and her form is still good enough for a 10. I think its also not good that you gave hera 9 for tactical awerness when she barley lost on the track. So i think your underrating
Total Running Productions: just a note, you gave Tirunesh a score of 96, but when you total the 10 individual scores (7 x 10s + 3 x 9s) it's actually 97.
Thank you for sharing us ! Good job Tirunesh Keep doing ! I wish you all the best ! You pick My Country's Flag & Name on the world ' Window ! Thank you 😊!
She is a known doper and deserves no respect or recognition for her results. Her coach was busted with a bin full of EPO at the Sadabell training camp in Spain while Tirunesh was living there. Her coach Jama Aden was forcing an underage athlete named Hamza Driouch to take EPO and the late David Torrence(RIP) seen what Aden's group were doing with EPO when he trained with Dibaba and Aden so he tipped off the IAAF who tipped off the spanish police who raided Aden and Dibabas house in Sadabell and found huge amounts of CERA(a type of EPO). Aden was arrested but Dibaba was left go as athletes don't get criminally punished for this Spain. Both Tirunesh and Genzebe Dibaba were present at the camp at the time. The only reason they aren't banned is because WADA didn't get a positive test. Tirunesh is a doper and shouldn't be allowed to compete nevermind get recognition as an all-time great. She's only winning because she's juiced up.

My favourite female athlete of all time. That 5000m world title in 2003 was the best womens 5000m i've ever seen. Every athlete except for Tirunesh was mentioned during the race. It was only in the final 100m that the British commentators realised she was actually in the race and said her name.
One of the articles I read about the so-called Cohen Modal Haplotype mentioned that the Arsi in Ethiopia have this Kohanim sub-haplotype. The famous Dibaba family of distance runners is of Arsi background, according to my Tigrayan friend. They are well known for their strength and for their talent in breeding the best animals. One caution about the article is that you should take the deep time dating with a grain of salt. But some have deduced that the theoretical "Aaron haCohen" lived about 3,000-3,500 years ago; so if that is the Aaron of the Bible, it would match up perfectly with Biblical chronology. Interestingly, as the article mentions, a very large percentage of Asians are members of the same larger haplogroup from which the Aaronic subgroup descended. By extension, it would appear that many first nations may also be part of the larger group of which the Aaronic group is a subclass. I wonder whether the larger group could be related to Melchizedek, whom some identify as Shem. The Cohen Modal Haplogroup appears most concentrated in the area of southern Arabia and the Western part of the Caspian Sea, which would be where Azerbaijan and Chechnya are. It is somewhat less concentrated in the horn of Africa, Sudan, and the rest of Western Asia, but still quite high. Much of that the area of present-day Yemen used to be part of the Aksumite kingdom. Interestingly, one of the common surnames of the Cohanim is "Kagan". Might that have something to do with the Turkic Kaganates, for example, some of which extended across the entire latitude of Asia? Bear in mind that many linguists believe Korean and Turkic languages are strongly related languages. It would appear that they both have common ancestral origins in the ancient land of Ur where Abraham originated. The strong genetic relation between the Arsi Oromo and many of the Asians in East Asia seems to be another link between the Omotic people, of which the Arsi are members, and the Mandarin Chinese, both of whom have tonal languages. Here are some key excerpts of the article: "If you assume that Aaron HaCohen started the Cohen line (which is a core assumption in Orthodox Judaism), then ALL of his male descendants will be in the same Haplogroup. The original ancestor of Cohanim is very likely from the J1 lineage. Specifically, J1-P58 lineage and in particular ZS227 seems to be the Cohen paternal line. The two most common Jewish subgroup of J1-P58 are Z18297 and ZS227. ZS227 includes the Cohanim haplotype [1]. Here is J1 from Wikipedia: Men from this lineage share a common paternal ancestor, which is demonstrated and defined by the presence of the SNP mutation referred to as M267, which was announced in (Cinnioğlu 2004). This haplogroup is found today in significant frequencies in many areas in or near the Middle East, and parts of the Caucasus, Sudan and Ethiopia. It is also found in high frequencies in parts of North Africa, Southern Europe, and amongst Jewish groups, especially those with Cohen surnames. It can also be found much less commonly, but still occasionally in significant amounts, throughout Europe and as far east as Central Asia and the Indian Subcontinent. [2] J1-P58, the Central Semitic branch of J1, appears to have expanded from Israel/Palestine/Jordan across the Arabian peninsula during the Bronze Age, from approximately 3,500 to 2,500 BCE (5500-4500 years ago) [3, 1]. . . . Cohen Modal Haplotype (CMH) The original scientific research was based on the hypothesis that a majority of present-day Jewish Kohanim share a pattern of values for 6 unique markers (YSTR), which researchers named the Cohen Modal Haplotype (CMH) [4]. Of those who did belong to Haplogroup J, the Kohanim were more than twice as likely to have a pattern close to the CMH-6, suggesting a much more recent common ancestry for most of them compared to an average non-Cohen Jew of Haplogroup J [4]. This means that you need to belong in J to have the CMH [4]. Additional research using 12 unique markers, which is more accurate, indicated that about half of contemporary Jewish Kohanim shared Y-chromosomal J1 M267, specifically haplogroup J-P58 (also called J1c3). Other Kohanim groups share a different ancestry, including haplogroup J2a (J-M410). Both of these groups are in the “J” line [4]. Genetics research published in 2013 and 2016 for haplogroup J1 places the Y-chromosomal Aaron within subgroup Z18271, with an age estimate 2,638 - 3,280 years ago [4]. In a study published in 2009, based on genotypes at 12 markers (Y-STRs), they identified an extended CMH on the J-P58* background that predominates in both Ashkenazi and non-Ashkenazi Cohanim and is remarkably absent in non-Jews [5]. The estimated divergence time of this lineage based on 17 STRs is 3,190 +/- 1,090 years. These results support the hypothesis of a common origin of the CMH in the Near East well before the dispersion of the Jewish people into separate communities, and indicate that the majority of contemporary Jewish priests descend from a limited number of paternal lineages [5]. . . . what the study found was that people who are Cohanim were way more likely to be from the J group, particularly J-P58. So it’s likely that Cohanim descended from that individual with those markers. This is used as evidence that Cohanim came from one 1 male. So if there is an Aaron Hacohen, J-P58 is probably his lineage (but to be 3000-3500 year ago, it would need to be a subgroup of J1-P58 such as ZS227), and anyone who isn’t in that group got mixed up with being a Cohen somewhere in the last 3000 years."

Can I make a suggestion on the scoring range? Since you are focusing on elite runners, it is kind of pointless to have everything squashed in the 90-100 range. To that effect, I would recommend "zooming in" your scoring by compressing the range of of each category in 1-5, or even better 1-3. This will make differentiations much more meaningful and -- also -- you will give yourself permission to be more aggressive in rating people more accurately without seeming 'disrespectful' even if it's subconsciously. You ARE looking at the best of the best and the comparison is really amongst them so you want to have better delineation.

Tommasini9 You’re in luck! I looked at him a while back. You can find him on my channel. I didn’t give him a score in that video but you can find his score in other videos.
Carl Lewis please, one of my idols. He finishers so strongly like Bolt another idol. But Carl was I feel the one to bring professionalism to the sport and the payments that came with him. His running style is amazing, smooth, holding form, which equates to maintaining maximum speed much longer than his rivals. Probably 130 meters would be about his optimum distance. He was a showman and he had depth considering he managed 4 golds. He would have been the cheetah of his day, built for speed but so graceful. His glory was robbed in 88 by Johnson. In the ancient Olympics the runners used enhancements, even letting blood I think but what ever th substances used it was to the users advantage. Imagine having not to spend money on testing. Though it would create monsters, well they're already around. We could see a 400 kilo weight lift or run a sub 9 second 100 meters. We could see swimmers with webbed feet. At least it would be the best athletes competing, but of course the consequences could create problems. Just seems we've had too many accusations over the years. East Germany, breaking records by huge margins, the Chinese.
Yes the best we've seen. Has those champion of champion qualities to succeed and also so beautiful with lovely fine features, like a super model. She can run a sub 60 at the end of a race, that breaks every one's heart actually accelerating to the end probably a 13 second last 100. Yes she has a beautiful rhythm that is so efficient and relaxed that saves her energy. Her prolong training base and her will to win puts her in a class of her own. Her husband is so lucky to wake up with her by his side. Always one of my crushes from way back since she first came on the sea. So drop dead gorgeous with a kind of loving respectful aura around her and in her stunning eyes and youthful face a confidence is exhibited with humility. She's up there with Nadia Comenech, Flo Jo, a beautiful runner years ahead of her time in analyzing how to run a race, tempo. Drug cheat or not I dont know, but she definitely was poetry in motion barely touching the ground like Tiru and Flo jo they both were extremely efficient like a hot knife through butter. The Male counter part was Carl Lewis, he was a balanced, leggy runner and so beautiful to watch as hours of training and technical understandings those athletes under took to reach greatness kept them well ahead of their rivals. Sometimes it could be a bit of arrogance that deep inner confidence. I remember John Walker saying before he won gold that in the warm up room he strutted around stretching openly, with an aura of invincibility, kind of making a statement to others I'm the record holder for the mile about a tick under 3. 50. I'm in form and have run the fastest this year etc John Syked everyone out, in a way before the race had even started well at least in his mind and I guess he could see the others tension. Alike lining up against the Bolt. Anyway John had done the Mileage and I think hes from the same schooling as Arthur lydiard who insisted on mileage a new way of training than previously used. He walked the talk and even ran up mileage himself. He used himself as a Guinea pig and what he learned he adopted it out to his runners. That's why Peter Snell who was 800 and 1500 meter runner had a big kick when he needed to, because the long distances in training day after day meant he looks like he is accelerating but he is just maintaining the stride form and pace he initiated longer than his rivals. Actually thinking about it Tiru, Flo Jo, Carl, John, Peter had big finishes, more correctly they were probably were slowing down slower than the other rivals that gives the illusion these athletes are accelerating. One thing I've figured out is these athletes knew their sectionals and if they did their known sectionals theyve trained hundreds of times like a 58 second last 400 for Tyru after a long distance race or John doing a 52 second 400 meter with a 25 second last 200. These athletes know if they do these sectionals they won't get beat. Had to mention zadepak who looked in pain when he ran but if challenged he just screws his face up more and ran faster. Amazing 5000 meters, 10,000 meters and Marathon the same Olympics, what about the heats and semis, probably one of the greatest achievements. Anyway better stop reminiscing. Alongside Tiru , Flo Jo, my crushes I have to mention this woman she had athletic shapely legs, she's not an olympian, but symeteically well shapely everything and the demeanor to match the lovely Rachael Welsh. All these women are aliens they are far to cool for our world. Zadepek, Arthur, Flo jo R. I. P. Lest we Forget.

National pride is visible, shining from one side to the other.
For peace, for justice, for the freedom of peoples
In equality and in love we stand united.
As a basic society, we do not dismiss humanity;
We are a people who live by work
Wonderful is the tradition, the mistress of the proud heritage,
The mother of natural virtue, the mother of a valiant people.
We will protect you - we have a duty;
Our Ethiopia, live! And let us be proud of you!

Paris 2003 was a total surprise to Ethiopians, we were expecting Birhane but it turnout it was time for the queen's coronation. i love turu
It should be 97 points.

6 and 7 should both be 10. any other score other than that is ridiculous!
Great video. Good narration. Your scores add up to 97 not 96.
Your total should add to 97 not 96. Check your math
Steve Prefontaine please.
Black queen .. absolute legend and beautiful
Great video once again! I’d love to see a video on Ryan Hall or Shalane Flanagan.
Amazing runner. Great video.
THANK U TIRU. FOR ALL THE MEMORIES.

She definitely should try the Olympic marathon!
Doped up to her eyeballs, same as every Dibaba.
🤣🤣 jealous much
