Note to Madden, sometimes interests in our childhood leads to our choices for jobs. My Dad couldn't remember how to back his father's brand new Model T out of the barn. So he did what any 9 year old would do....took the transmission apart to figure it out. 3 days later he understood transmissions and had it put back, good as new! As expected he spent his life as a desiel mechanic and a tank mechanic in WWll.

My dogs do the same thing, once I put the toys in the basket, they pull them out again.😂 I do winter decor after Christmas, even though I'm in California. However I was born & raised on the East coast in upstate NY & wish I was still there. I still have my plaid blankets out as they are winter for me or maybe my Scottish heritage 😊. My ex-husband was a drummer, so we always had a set of drums in the house. I have son's & grandsons. Love that you're back. Missed you.❤❤
I do a frosty Winter themed decor from January through February. Color scheme is forest green, white and natural wood tones. It doesn’t get as cold here in PA as it does in your area. January and February are two of my favorite months. I am a big fan of HYGGE (the Scandinavian practice of settling in and getting COZY). I love the slower pace and really enjoy “hearth and home” ❄️☃️🌬️. No post Christmas blues in this house ❤️
It feels so great since I paired down my Christmas decorations. I minimally decorate now and putting it away is quick. Love it! Highly recommend reducing! I love the “no holiday decor” time of January.
I mostly decorate for winter so when Christmas is over I don’t have much to put away, the tree and the ornaments and that’s about it! Everything else is winter and that stays up till Valentine’s Day.
I love watching your seasonal switch out videos. Also, if the drums are going to be a long term addition to your family, we took a part of our unfinished basement and made a little music room for my husband’s drums and guitars. We used sound dampening insulation and added an exterior door for soundproofing too. Boy did that change the upstairs noise level for the better! Plus my husband can now jam out without worrying about bothering me. Win-win!

Glad you kept up your white houses! I left my small amount out with some evergreen and green candles so the house is winter but not Christmas. Hope you enjoyed Chicago-I live in the western suburbs.
I’m leaving my tree up for a bit longer. It just makes me happy. And we moved the week before Thanksgiving so a tree is pretty much the only thing I got up this year. When we lived in upstate NY and the winters were long, I would leave things like trees, snowmen and lights up for a while. It just felt more cozy being stuck inside. 😊

I actually really enjoyed this video! I got sick with bronchitis on the 22nd and could not participate in Christmas at all. I was still sick on new years but this past weekend I finally started getting back into my routine. I'm currently done with putting away Christmas on my main floor and hopefully will start my basement today. I live in Michigan so I decorate for winter too and I leave some white lights up around my windows to help fight the seasonal depression.

Hi Crystal! Welcome back! I have not even really begun to take Christmas down! Ugh! I have such little time off of work and I just don't know how it will get done. I did buy some things from Target, Home Goods, TJ Maxx for Valentine's Day so I hope to get that up but with only one day off a week not sure when. I've hired (finally!) someone to help me but now I have to do some training so there's more time, but in the long run it will be a big help. Like you I have been super exhausted and back to working 10-12 hour days, it's a lot at 70 years old, I'm not going to lie! LOL Madden is such a cutie and is so well rounded with all his talents...golf, drums, etc. . I agree, in the Midwest we are a far cry from Spring. I may do roses for Valentine's Day, but still keeping some evergreen stems up, etc. for winter. (I do miss the Christmas music you played with your Vlogmas videos and I hate to see it Christmas all come down, but it's time. Take care, friend! ❤
Hello from Michigan 👋 Sounds like a fun trip! We also tend to do "as many states as we can fit in" type of trips. We have a scratch off map and are now at 37 states, including 13 national parks. I agree - always sad taking down Christmas decor. This year, I kept up most of my Christmas/winter greenery (including some lighted garland). January in Michigan is very gray and somber (and I'm pretty sure I have Seasonal Affective Disorder), so I hope the greenery and candles help lift my mood 👍

Somehow florals and pastel colors just don't seem to be the vibe I'm going for yet...lol. On the weekend I packed away all of my Christmas decor but kept out my greeneries. It makes me so sad to pack away Christmas too. My family was sick through the holidays, so I’m way behind. We got 4 inches of snow on Sunday and we’ve had cold temps but not as low as yours. (18 degrees). I just try and stay in. I’m older and kinda afraid of falling. I don’t blame you for returning that brass cabinet. You’ll find something better. I’ve always played the piano and it makes me happy when kids get involved with music. 😊 Stay warm. ☃️❄️

Im curious as to where all you went there? 😂 ❤ When my kids were growing up, I always got sooo sad when Christmas was over and my kids had to go back to school! I always missed them, even though I worked lol. Now that they're adults and Im a great grandma, it's more of a relief taking it all down and packing it away. I kind of miss it at first, but its nice to get everything cleaned up and back to normal. I only just caught up on your last Christmas vlogs yesterday so I hadn’t noticed it’s been 2 weeks since you uploaded. It’s the journey part of travelling I don’t like…I am definitely a nervous traveller! If I could go places afar without the journey I would. I think what makes me sad about taking down Christmas after the season ends is it’s one Christmas closer to that magic fading. 😢

It makes me so sad to pack away Christmas too. My family was sick through the holidays, so I’m way behind. We got 4 inches of snow on Sunday and we’ve had cold temps but not as low as yours. (18 degrees). I just try and stay in. I’m older and kinda afraid of falling. I don’t blame you for returning that brass cabinet. You’ll find something better. I’ve always played the piano and it makes me happy when kids get involved with music. 😊 Stay warm. ☃️❄️

I find that vacations are never relaxing....fun but not relaxing. I come home to rest.Yes i decorate for winter with white snowflakes and trees.........a few white deer and lights. Perfect for your white house.Thanks for showing why i hate flocked trees.I have way to my throw pillows and i switched to covers a few years ago. My poor garage!I got a clock for Christmas very much like yours but mine has space for pictures and at the hour they have recorded messages. I just love it!That family friend needs you to supply his kids with cymbals and bagpipes!

I was getting a little worried you hadn’t been on in awhile but I kinda figured you were buried in Christmas decor 😂 it so sad taking down Christmas but feels so good to have minimal decor out after months of big decor out 😅 I agree hit the stores now and get a jump before it’s gone id love to see a good Kirklands video the closets one to me is three hours away so I have to order mostly ! Crystal, I really missed you! It's so nice to have you back! 😊 I'm glad you all had a nice vacation! I live about 30 miles SW of Chicago, was born and raised there (north side). Im curious as to where all you went there? 😂 ❤ When my kids were growing up, I always got sooo sad when Christmas was over and my kids had to go back to school! I always missed them, even though I worked lol. Now that they're adults and Im a great grandma, it's more of a relief taking it all down and packing it away. I kind of miss it at first, but its nice to get everything cleaned up and back to normal. Madden sure is a smart boy, he will definitely do good things with his life! ❤ Charlie is so cute and fluffy! ❤ I hope you get some rest! My daughter is an ER nurse, and she said they have been crammed full with sick people, a lot of flu going around, among other things. ❤

What FUN Holiday vaca ya’ll had‼️‼️‼️. I’m getting to be more & more of a home body now too…I still work part time…so taking down Christmas decor is sloooooow going for me too. 😖 But it’s coming🥰 My house is looking soooooooo bare too😢 I haven’t started “ redecorating “ back yet. I’m having eye surgery in Des Moines this Friday , as I have a wonderful Doctor 🧑⚕️( but prayers appreciated 🙏🏻🥰) . But I’m off for 2 weeks, so I HOPE 🙏🏻 I can finish any Christmas decor put away…or give away and reset my home for the winter months. TY so much Crystal for 2024 inspirations . Hi Crystal 😊 I’m in California and here, we’ve got some nasty bugs going around. I’m on day 10 of a nasty cold. Had to go to Urgent Care for antibiotics for an ear infection. I really hope that you don’t have this going around where you live. Happy to hear you had a lovely family vacation, I think they’re good for the family 🥰

I only just caught up on your last Christmas vlogs yesterday so I hadn’t noticed it’s been 2 weeks since you uploaded. It’s the journey part of travelling I don’t like…I am definitely a nervous traveller! If I could go places afar without the journey I would. I think what makes me sad about taking down Christmas after the season ends is it’s one Christmas closer to that magic fading. 😢

The idea for Valentine coffee/hot cocoa bar is perfect ❤️ I was just wondering the color paint you have on your main level.
