The Gero Onsen hot springs in Gero City are one of the three most famous hot springs in all of Japan.
Located between the north (where Hida Takayama and Shirakawa-go are located) and south areas of Gifu Prefecture, Gero Onsen is a convenient place to stay during your Gifu travels.
In addition to relaxing traditional indoor baths, you'll also find free geothermal footbaths that you can easily dip into even in the middle of a stroll. Next to the Hida River that runs through the center of Gero Onsen, there is the open-air footbath Fusenchi. You can enjoy the footbaths while soaking in the beauty of nature, surrounded by mountains and rivers.
