I saw Peter onstage just about 3 weeks ago, and he still sounds and plays as awesomely as ever. Don't miss the chance to witness for yourself if you get it!
We all get older and time catches up to us all. None of us look the same goes without saying. One thing I can say about Peter is his voice is one of the best in Rock and has been for years! His drum playing is fantastic also. Been a fan since 1970. Cheers!
Damn! Peter still kicks ass. Loved these guys growing up in the 60's and 70's. Still do! Ain't no sampling or pitch correction going on here. Just pure talent. Real Musicians!!!!
Peter Rivera, one of the BEST voices of all time, better that many, many other singer, incredible drummer. Not doubt, ER was and still one of the best bands ever, great music/talent .Standing ovation for Mr. Pete Rivera!
Peters vocals are just epic, he stands alone when he's in his element, a definite badass talented drummer. I can't think of anybody else that could sing his songs with as much soulful power, "Legendary Icon" - age is just a number anyhow!

PR sounds like so good ,like there is no difference from then and now a real class act and a timeless musician who stands the test of time, with no difference in his vocal quality. Awesome is all I can say. Maybe no drugs to F uped lifestyle to mess with his vocals maybe!
akimmbo Absolutely! I saw them in concert in circa 1973 in Reno, Nevada. Sat in the first row and remember Gil Bridges' sax made my ears ring for days! lol Fantastic band! Take care :-)

Question Mark and the Misterians were out of Bay City and Flint. Ted Nugent and the Amboy Dukes were another Michigan band. There was a band called Terry Knight and the Pack which spawned two great musicians Donny Brewer on Drums and Mark Farner on Guitar...who became Grand Funk Railroad...there were a lot of other bands who had musicians that went big time

I've heard two great, no perfect, Rock and Roll voices in my life. One, and this surprised me no end but mesmerized me, was Billy Joe Royal, who in his 70's owned the room at a concert in St Louis, the other, this fabulous singing Drummer, Peter Rivera. I keep coming back to PR's material when I need to get inspired.

Yes, Rare earth was the "first" white act to be signed on the Motown label. The word "legend" and "icon" is so over used today. This is Pete from Rare Earth fame and he is truly a music making Icon. To play drums this greatly and" the Voice" enough said. T
Well, they were the first white band to have hits for Motown. There were several that recorded singles which never made it (The Rustix, The Dalton Boys, The Underdogs) None of them had a singer (or drummer) like Pete!
thomas grim he's performing in Tucson this Friday, the band I'm in Soul Essential is on the bill, he's playing drums with us on Celebrate..this will be interesting. He's great!
I was living in Traverse City MI when RE came to an outside venue. I was amazed that the group didn't have an album out. It wasn't too much after that they hit the airwaves. Been fantastic ever since... love em!
Mr. H. aka Pete Rivera Hoorelbeke legendary founder Drummer/Lead Vocalist of MOTOWN RARE EARTH: you are phenomenal/big heart and wishing you & other Rare Earth legend members (Gil Bridges, Ed Guzman, Mark Olsen, Ray Monette, Mike Urso, John Parrish-Persh, Kenny James and Rod Richards) that breath such an "energize," life force jam into Rare Earth a heartfelt 50th Anniversary individually and collectively. And still growing. You are magic Pete (you & John are my favorites) and a treasure meeting you in the early/mid '90's w/the Classic All Rock Stars. Awesome!!
Age is only a number anyway! I discovered Rare Earth in my teen years, this group inspires me to create my own music. Fantastic pick me up!! a young baby boomer am I
Bought their "Ecology" album when I was in high school back in 1969. That was my introduction. Saw them play at California Jam in 1974. What a great band!
Had the pleasure of seeking and talking to Peter Rivera Sunday night at the Rock n' Blues gig with Edgar Winter, Kim Simmonds, Vince Martel, Rick Derringer, Mark Stein, Jason Carpenter, Koko Powell, Doug Rappoport, etc. Better than ever in my humble opinion ! Thanks everyone ~
Hey, m4d13, thanks for the nice comment, RE is in my opinion one of the best bands that ever came down the pipe in those days and I try and educate my son about why we should really look at people and bands like these especially if your aspiring to be a musician. God knows there is a lot of crap out there today I wouldn't even call music. Thanks bro!
Keine Sänger auf die Erde kann sich mit ihm vergleichen ! Er ist der Nr. Eins . Dann kommt lange nicht , und dann nicht , und überhaupt keine hat so eine Volumen und Power wie Rivera . Zvonimir
