True story: I was out a convention where the guest of honor was the original suit actor, and he did the victory dance for a fan's daughter.
And that, besides being the original suit actor; is why he is awesome.
May he R.i.p
I was at G-Fest once where he showed us all how to do the Jumping Shie. He was a wonderful guy with a great sense of humor
I love him so much
Wow! you are so lucky
the godzilla victory dance is second only to the godzilla dropkick in terms of cinematic greatness.
Don't forget when he used his atomic breathe to fly!
I'm glad somebody appreciates it for what it is, most people that don't like it don't understand it wasn't just a random act. Godzilla was imitating a popular Japanese character of the time though I'm not really sure where it was from at the moment. The character was popular with children and it was meant to appeal to them. There is actually a promotional photograph of Nick Adams and three of the other actors doing the same pose.
And don't forget Burning Godzilla!
SHEEH
That was bizzare
And Thus began Brandon's journey to review every Godzilla film...
In the Japanese version, Tetsuo's invention is a *rape whistle* - which is the last thing I was expecting when I watched this film.
Huh the inventor was ahead of his time LoL
Japan has a bit of a history of it, so it was a shrewd business move.
I haven't watched this movie in a long time and i don't remember the exact wording but I remember the American version making it extremely clear that the invention was a rape whistle even if the word rape was never used.
Seriously!?!
@@michaelkrull3331 Nonsense! Don't believe this lol. 😂 It was never referred to as a rape whistle or associate with anything so lewd and vulgar. Some folks just spout misleading drivel to gain attention. The very assumption of this makes zero sense and frankly ludicrous since the invention was just a mindless gimmick to appeal to kids until later finding *real* use as it played a major role in immobilizing the antagonists forces.
A disc shaped electronic device that makes an obnoxious noise? Tetsuo invented the smoke detector!
Meanwhile fnaf fans are heading to the bunkers
It’s like Homer Simpson’s invention : The detector that keeps going off while everything is okay. It can’t be shut off, but fortunately the battery dies quickly.
So, so, SSOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, true
🤣🤣
But it's not as useful as a smoke detector :=)
Monster Zero is a really really good entry into the series. For one, the human subplots are so good and well-scripted, that you could remove all of the giant monster factors from the movie and it would play like a solid Sci Fi B-Movie. But it's all the better because in addition to a good human element, it has plenty of monster action. It's in my top 5 favorites.
This had three kind of monsters in it -- a Dragon ( King Ghidorah) a Radioactive Dinosaur (Godzilla)and a Mutant Pterodactyl (Rodan),and DEVO, how could you go wrong with this movie ?😎😎👍💪💪💪🐉🐉🐉🦖🦇😃
Out of all the Godzilla movies I've seen this has the best human characters. The characters are likeable and the dialog is pretty good. Acting is ok too.
We're any of the later movies a sequel to this one? Seeing as Ghidorah flew off the victor.
Didn't you just watch a video detailing the movie's numerous plot-holes?
It's fine if you like the film (I do, too), but let's be honest.
Plenty of monster action? Godzillas screentime in this movie is near it's all Time lowest being barely 5 minutes and a good chunk of it is stock footage
Being really dark is a fair explanation for why a planet is difficult to be discovered without modern technology. By not reflecting light, it does not appear as a 'moving star' like most planets do, so you'd need to discover it by noticing gravitational disturbances and such.
SgtHydra wow you sure are smart
Well a moving star is what it sounds like, a Star not a planet. However being in the same solar system and being technically a moon orbiting a big planet the light will eventually reflect off planet x. It will just be however long the rotation is.
There was a real planet X discovered. It was orbiting a distant star & was 99% "dark". That is 99% of the light from it's sun was absorbed.
The thing you’re talking about is called Albedo. Things such as snow/ice and clouds reflect a lot of light, while rocky planets don’t
It would be very noticeable when it transits in front of the very brightly reflective Jupiter. If it were in empty space and very dark, then it would be very hard to detect, but not orbiting a bright object like Jupiter.
But beside that point, this is a great old Godzilla flick! Lots of monster action, some decent story.
The victory dance must've been hell on earth for the guy in the suit
Anonymous Mouse “you jumped off time there”
It was actually three guys. two died during the production of the scene.
@@PHANTOMZ0NE .
Can't you tell it was done on a trampoline?
Apparently the guy in the suit did it on a whim and it wasn't scripted. They thought it was funny though so it made the cut.
“The aliens turn out to be bad guys”
What?!? You’re kidding! That never happens!
But aliens make our country vibrant.
This was Nick Adams last feature before dying from an accidental overdose. F for respects.
And the worst part is, it was accidentally

This was the *first* Godzilla movie, I ever saw. (Gojira vs. Hedorah, was the second one.)
I remember being amazed that the monsters were *NOT* created with the usual _Stop-Motion_ puppet effects, like in most American films, of the time. Being a kid, of about 6 years old, when I first saw *"Monster Zero"* I couldn't figure out (at the time) how they *did* this "miracle"! LOL! The most lasting memory, I have of this movie is, of course Godzilla jumping up and down, doing his Haiking dance!
....I remember thinking to myself: "That's a really *strange* thing for a dinosaur to do." _Heh!_
Sir, I'm gonna have to pull you over. That is too many commas.
Watching this again after seeing Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Good times.

Kumi Mizuno “this lady/clone alien” is so hot lol
Mmmm a whole planet of Kumi Mizunos.
How could anyone be a fan of THIS and not love the new "Godzilla: King of Monsters"? The plot wasn't any worse! XD
The problem is that it's more drab and boring. The kitschy quality is important.

14:42 I think Planet X pretended to be friendly, because they needed the humans to find Godzilla and Rhodan for them. That does not explain why they bothered with the monster fight, instead of immediately putting the monsters under their control though.
Rodan.
Becuse they were board
Maybe they needed them to be beaten first.
Al Bundy once scored 4 TDs in a high school football game. Legend has it Bundy did the Godzilla victory dance after all 4 TDs...

Well I did my part, I'll see myself out.
My Mom allowed me to stay up late on Friday nights in the early 70’s when I was in elementary school and watch Creature Feature. This was the first Godzilla movie I recall seeing. I’ve loved this film, and the big guy, ever since.

12:16 - 12:23 Lol, btw here's a fun fact, the suit actor almost got fired because of that, but when it ended up everyone liked this scene, they decided to forgive him and add it to the movie. Apparently, it was part of a japanese routine kind of based of an anime, and the suit actor(I think) wanted to do it, because he though it was "cute". "The kids will love it!", and they did!
You do understand that he is being sent back to a planet populated by replicas of the women he only got to "second base" with. Lol. So many more chances.
"Planet X is very dark..." Cassini and other astronomers legit lost one of the moons of Saturn the same way. Iapetus has a dark half Stephen King would drool over.
I just want to squeeze those alien spaceships and see if they squeak!
Ryan, that makes me dirty minded.

This was first released in the U.S. as a double-feature with The War of the Gargantuas. Could you maybe review that?
We Like to part by the Vengaboys
***** No Problem
He reviews bad movies though......War of the gargantuas is a good & an underrated movie
i didnt enjoy his review on Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla because that was an awsome movie & there wasn't good jokes for that one
+i cant think of a name i was forced to put one here And that's exactly why I wondered if he'd ever consider reviewing Gargantuas, since even good films tend to make their way onto his lists.
Yeah, I remember that. I was a little kid and saw the double bill advertised for the local drive-in, but my parents never went out to movies so I was disappointed (sob) LOL
That first line of dialogue from Nick Adams in this video at 2:55, that's the first time in my life I've heard his real voice. I've always watched this and Frankenstein vs Baragon in Japanese. It's not what I expected, AT ALL. I always imagined it like a deep news reporter
10:41 Did Godzilla do the Ali Shuffle?🤔
#godzillavictorydance
Godzilla's victory dance is friggin' epic!
Wow, Guile's theme DOES go with everything!
It's rumored that Nick and Kumi Mizuno(Mrs.Namikawa)had an off screen relationship.
Wouldn’t the aliens from Planet X look good in a Lost in Space episode?
Okay all joking aside you have to give the suit actor props for being able to do that dance in that suit at all
I should point out the astronauts landed on Planet X armed with pistols. This is completely inaccurate as we remember Neil Armstrong carried an M-16 on his Moon Landing. :)

I met Akira Takarada (Fuji) at GFEST 2012. Asked him what his favorite movie to act in was, and he said Monster Zero.
In my humble opinion, THE best Godzilla film ever made, outside of the first. AND, interestingly enough, the only one where Godzilla himself actually leaves the planet earth! Such a fantastic film.
And furthermore I like to consider the ending a win for King Ghidorah, a very rare event
Actually the aliens do travel into the future because they reappear as the aliens in Godzilla final wars.
***** if it's a different timeline how did the people know all of the monsters names most of them would have been new to that timeline.
Actually they probably time travel in the movie godzilla vs king ghidorah where they probably disguise themselves to look like humans from the future
Godzilla 2000 was pretty good actually
+wkeil1981 better than the 1998 one, that's for sure
+Victoria Hane That's a different timeline as well, the Showa (60's and 70's) films are a completely separate canon from the Hesei series ( 80's and 90's). Think of it like comparing different canons in comic books. Same thing with the 2000's series, none of the movies there are related to each other except for the two Mechagodzilla ones before Final Wars. However every Godzilla movie is related to the first movie.
"Tetsuo's Sound & The Magnetic Waves" Great band name.
The Devo snippets are brilliant - I had to laugh every time.. 😅
Loved the Victory Dance, classic.
15:59 Oh GOD no.....

Aliens: time to commit....ESCAPE! *blows up*
My dumb theory to explain sending Glen to Planet X as ambassador:
Glen returns to Planet X with a ship armed out the ass with nuclear bunker buster warheads. He negotiates a peace treaty with the remaining inhabitants. They will cease and permanently desist any and all plans for invading Earth. They will also use their technology to assist the human governments with capturing the kaiju of Earth and relocating them to Monster Land (or Monster Island?). In exchange, Glen will not use Planet X for nuclear target practice.
They will also send at least 50% of their remaining Kumi Mizuno clones to Earth immediately.

0:54 SCHWING!!! (Come on, with all the slobbering over Caroline Munro and young Jane Fonda you'd want at least something for the "other team"...)
13:33 your take on how they can call it even for killing so many people is exactly how I feel when they try to play the sympathy card (sure there's different continuities, but overall the taste of blood is on all godzillas in my eyes, no matter how much I enjoy the movies lol)
This happens a LOT in fiction TBH. Casualty counts are just number when they don't have characters in the casualties.
Monster movies, sarcasm, and Devo references? Yep my kinda youtube channel
Poor Nick Adams was on a downward spiral at this point, which would end with his drug overdose in 1968. How 'bout cutting the poor guy some slack?
As sad as that is? Most of the ribbing is being done in good fun and it's being directed towards the movie, it's not made to insult Nick Adams.

I became a subtitles purist almost as soon as I figured out they were usually an option in the DVD menu as a small child who couldn't get enough of these movies. The dialogue in the originals isn't necessarily good, but holy fuck is it better than the dubs.

Godzilla was only doing the Safety Dance. One of my favorite ending. Rodan picks up the G-Man, smash in to Ghidorah and they go down the mountain into the sea. How can you not live it?
I think the reason why they didn't transport Ghidora like Godzilla and Rodan is that he's awake and causing trouble, while the two other monsters are sleeping and unconscious of the transport.
Okay I know the real reason why they didn't do that to the three headed dragon is that they're using him, but I think they would explain that if someone asked.
Also, technically due to Xilien naming conventions Godzilla and Rodan are now Monster 1 and 2.
i love that this is your first Godzilla review. this is easily my favourite out of the showa series (obviously excluding gojira the original)
3:01 "Three doctorates and I still have to make the fuckin' coffee. I hate this era".

Just revisited this and it's such a great episode! It's really well written and edited. Also, even when I was little, I thought Nick Adams was totally annoying in this so I'm really happy you addressed his 1930's-man performance a number of times! And I love your cutaways after hearing Tetsuo's invention, and the great reel to reel bit! By the way, Godzilla's victory dance was based on a ridiculous manga character from 1964, Iyami of "Osomatsu-Kun", which started a trend of people making this pose across Japan!

Thank you for the review, which was quite entertaining. The detail about the history of these films, reused footage, and how this particular film Marked a change in evolution to a more kid friendly presentation. Despite all the quirks and plot holes these movies, even today remain entertaining for whatever reason. I specially like the 60s dialogue and catchphrases use throughout.
BRANDON, I was recently binge watching your episodes and found a hilarious simularity between the Da Da Da Dance from Infested and godzillas victory dance from godzilla vs monster zero. Im not sure if you ever looked at them side to side, but i was almost convinced it was an homage to the godzilla dance but made no real connections. Love your vids brother, keep it up. One reviewer to another, it is nice to have a funny down to earth critic rather than poorly read carbon copy of other peoples oppinions.
I'm getting some Godzillathon memories from this.
Xpzilla same.
This film is definitely my all time favorite Godzilla film from the Showa era
Did you know that the title music isn't actually the title music? It took the music from later in the movie where Godzilla and Rodan were collected
The Japanese version had the title music be the military march from the original Godzilla, named Monster Zero March
Hi! "the victory dance" was borrowed from popular cartoon in the '60 called "Osomatsu-kun". When you are very shocked, you scream "Sheeei!" with that pose. Every Japanese those days know it.
I think the aliens needed human help to find the monsters locations initially, and they obviously stole them because they didn't want any local competition (since Ghidora had been beaten by the two before) and having three giant monsters under your control is better than one.
I went to the club and did the Godzilla victory dance, all the girls ran away..
The 2019 box set of Godzilla coming in October is going to be a huge collectors item.
I just can't stop laughing at the DEVO moments!

Its a pity that Nick Adams [glen] died 3 years after this movie from a drug overdose
I wonder if the aliens had been planning their evil plan for decades in frustration as the human space programs stalled out, or just threw it all together at the last minute with an "Oh s***! They're here already!"
