    I also cover the gator locks. I guess you could say it is a bonus towards the end of the video.

    is it possible to pump from a ditch which is 150ft away if I have a PVC 1" pipe 150 in front of my 1 inch water pump or would it burn out. The ditch is 5 feet deep and I have 150ft of neighbor land in between my garden and the ditch. Is it possible to prime 150ft of 1 inch pipe or would it simply drain into the ditch.

    • @ArizonaHotHomestead
      @ArizonaHotHomestead  4 роки тому +1

      each pump should have in the specs info you are looking for. some pumps need to be primed others do not. i think what you are wanting to do it is possible just need to find the right pump.

  • @kingmcr.2773
    @kingmcr.2773 7 років тому +4

    Wait a second you said at the beginning the tank was 5000 gallons the tank was not full so how could you be over 5000 gallons in that tank the Overflow pipe is nearly at the top of these tanks ( I should know I have 4 of them) and that's at 5000 gallons your water line was like a quarter of the way to the top so you're nowhere near or over 5,000 gallons in that tank. P.s. the max gallons for that tank( for safety and pressure is 5,050 gallons I own 4 of them this is how I know.
    P.s. You should think about getting a small pond pump and having it in your tank so it circulates air through your water so that your water doesn't get stagnated and bacterial growth doesn't grow in the tank its called aerating your water
    I usually put a cap of bleach in each one of my takes every 2 months and I leave the pond pump running so it circulates the water and the bleach killing any and everything that's in the water so that my cattle do not get stomach viruses.

    • @ArizonaHotHomestead
      @ArizonaHotHomestead  7 років тому +3

      good point on the bleach. the water is treated with hydrogenperoxide and i have put some bleach in after it sits for a while. i thought of the circulating pump just dont want to use up the power from by batteries.

    I would install a 2 inch threaded 90 on the inlet pointing down on the 5000 gallon tank then the cam lock fitting. I’ve been told that it puts less wear and stress on the rubber o ring in the cam lock fitting.

    Are most of these pumps rated for potable water? Are you sure something from HF is good enough for drinking water? I'm about to do exactly what you're doing now- but I find many hoses and pumps are not potable water rated. When you find them, they're pricey.

    • @ArizonaHotHomestead
      @ArizonaHotHomestead  5 років тому

      i think what makes them potable or not is if the inside is coated with something to keep it from rusting, maybe the oils that are used from the factory or maybe some other legal thing that has to be done to it to make it potable. if i use the pump only for this purpose and the water i store i filter and treat it i am not worried about it. if i find that the pump inside is really rusty and a lot of it is getting into my water i might do something to change but right now i do flush the pump out before i pump into my storage tank. i guess its best to have a potable pump but temporary i go with this one. lol.

    Looks like you are really coming a long. It's hard w/ water to keep it clean and useable. Must be nice though to have that many gallons storage. I go thru my 30 gal so fast, so I wonder how much value that would be if the water hook up ever went down for long. Usually it goes down just for a day, so the stored water has me covered.

    • @ArizonaHotHomestead

      at some point maybe utilize a water tote on a trailer and have someone or maybe you use it as back up water supply. It will be tall enough to gravity feed into your trailer .

    With the large inlet valve at the pump intake, is there danger of damaging the pump if it is running and you close off the water intake to the pump???

    • @ArizonaHotHomestead
      @ArizonaHotHomestead  3 роки тому

      by closing off the intake you cut off the water starving the pump and it will destroy the pump. some pumps can run for a short period with out water but it will create a vacuum with no oxygen or water which will more likely damage the pump.
