    Great video, thanks! This went incredibly smooth. I heated the heck out of the back cover with a hair dryer and it came off way easier than it did in the video, basically pulled it off lol. Hardest part for me was lining that black cover back on before you put the screws back in...take your time and make sure it's perfectly lined up. I heated the back of phone and back cover before putting rear cover back on and it looks like I never opened it. Smooth as butter baby! Keeping my phone alive instead of buying a new one.

      I was able to just pick up the back cover with my fingernails also, and slowly worked it off without any tools. The battery was the most time consuming part, because there isn't much access to get lifting forces. The iSesame tool worked well from the bottom of the battery, and it eventually started lifting up.

    To remove the back cover I used an hoteplate at 80 degrees Celsius for 4 minutes and the back cover comes out easily. I think 4 minutes was too much. I suggested 3 minutes. To remove the battery I use hoteplate at 80 degrees Celsius for 1 minutes (three times). Last time I used a drop of isopropyl alcohol. It's not complicated but it's not very easy. The battery is well glued, you have to use heat to loosen the adhesive.

      @dubmob151 9 місяців тому

      I'd normally pick user replaceable over all three of the others, but glad for the waterproof, from the time it fell out of my pocket straight into the toilet. Luckily freshly flushed 😅. It survived thanks to that waterproofness.
      I'm figuring on sacrificing some of that waterproofness for now, having just reused the old adhesive for the replacement.
      I might consider applying a bead of sealant or PDR hot glue on the outside edge perimeter. Appearance doesn't matter since I use a case with it anyway.

  • @Winastwan
    @Winastwan 3 роки тому +4

    Why the waterproofing will not work anymore even after replacing the glue with the original adhesive?

    • @iDocEN
      @iDocEN  3 роки тому +13

      Hi Galih,
      there are 2 main reasons for this: On the one hand, Water protection is not made for eternity. Small cracks in the adhesive frame can occur due to falls, but also due to daily use. Therefore, you always have to ask yourself whether the phone was even waterproof before the repair.
      On the other hand, the adhesive frame is applied by certain pressure under certain heat. You cannot be sure if you can reproduce this 1:1 during a repair.
      Best
      Sabine

    • @AndyMitchellUK26
      @AndyMitchellUK26 2 роки тому +1

      It probably will be but they must state this to cover themselves should your phone later die of water damage. There is no guarantee that the adhesive will be applied to the same specifications and pressures as was done in the factory.

    • @dubmob151
      @dubmob151 9 місяців тому

      There's an app to check water resistance that uses the internal barometric sensor to measure the pressure increase when you press on the phone face. That's a reasonable way to see if you restored the seal okay.

      Hi Daniel,
      a phone isn't 100% waterproof after repair (also not necessarily before repair 😅) There are some features that provide water protection, including a correctly placed adhesive frame and small pads on openings. During daily use, small cracks can appear, which reduce the protection. Even after the repair, no one can guarantee that you have attached the adhesive frame 100% correctly again.
