  • In this episode of Networking End to End, Stephanie Wong goes over how to connect your VPCs without setting up a mountain of VPNs. Stay tuned to find out how to set up VPC Peering to deploy different VPCs across different regions.

    If both networks can't have overlapping subnets thats not an overhead in management?, I mean imagine multiple projects connecting to the same "host project" to access the on-premise server. Each one of the child projects can't overlap their subnets?, Do I need to keep track of all my subnet ranges on all my projects or am I missing something?

    Can we do peering between 2 networks, each network defined in different projects?

      Hi Ram, Yes you can peer between 2 projects' VPCs. Check out some of the architectures here: cloud.google.com/vpc/docs/vpc-peering#networking-features-scenarios

    Hey it's a nice video. I have a doubt here. I am having a Private ip vm in project A with vpc N1 and in project B a vpc N2. Both are peered and I am trying to connect to the private ip vm from project B through app engine standard using a serverless vpc connector. But i not able to connect. If I go with flex and mention the peered network N2 of project B am able to connect. Why? Any thoughts on it

      Have you made sure you enabled the right Firewall rules to allow traffic from your App Engine instance in VPC N2 to the Private IP in VPC N1?

      @@stephaniewong142 yeah firewall is Configured properly. I need to know whether serverless vpc connector supports a peered network? I have tried all possible cases it's not working

    This is SUPER OVERVIEW but not how you actually do it.

    Great video, but it doesn't cover routing from the peered network back to the on-prem network, which is what I'm having issues with. I've enabled custom route import/export on both peered networks. The routes appear on each network. I've also added a custom advertisement in the cloud router which allows the on-prem network to see the route. The VPC in the peered network (not in the same region as the network with the VPN tunnet) still doesn't have the route back to the on-prem network. We don't want to use static routes as they are too much overhead management.

      This article I wrote on Cloud Router set up might help you set up dynamic routes between 2 isolated networks: medium.com/google-cloud/dynamic-routing-with-cloud-router-9ff5c362d833?_branch_match_id=555136178235434060

    Hi Team, is it possible to create a VPC peering between two different gcp accounts ? if it is possible, kindly share the documentation.

    Thanks' a lot for this video, it's very usefull. Just a confirm: We cannot use VPC Shared in this scenario, 'cos we have to link resources 'in the same project', don't we? We could use VPC Shared if the resources was in different project in the same Organization, can't we? Thanks for you eventual reply

    Hello Respected Team,
    I wanted to know whether using VPC peering can we perform the following:-
    Connect Cloud SQL instance in one project to Dataproc cluster in different project to store hive table metadata on cloud SQL instance from the hive tables on Dataproc cluster.

    Very clear and passionate. There is an overlap control before the VPC Peering creation ?

    What if instead of a vm-mysql you are using cloud-sql ?

    • @stephaniewong142
      @stephaniewong142 4 роки тому

      Hey Renan you can use private IPs with Cloud SQL which uses VPC Peering: cloud.google.com/sql/docs/mysql/private-ip
