If you are still enjoying it after these last two months go to an art supply store and buy some better paints for $30-50, and a pad of 100% cotton paper. You will be blown away by how much of a difference it makes!

But 2 weeeks ago I ordered some painting supply and wanted to give it a try while developing a skill set and also have a healthy hobby/past time. Your videos are absolute gem for beginners like me. I’m eager to start. The benefit of being in my 70s is that I finally have time to try new things that I have always wanted to explore.
1 - my daughter, a fine art major gifted me some water colors, brushes and paper while I have been recovering from a devastating shoulder injury (luckily, my left arm). Your samples are beautiful and I am looking forward to your instruction and creating art.
I've been looking for someone just like you, Chris. So many Beginner Watercolor tutorials are Not for the Extreme Beginners like me and so many other. I appreciate your style! I paid for a class and was taught light colors before dark (not a you must do it this way, but this was the technique taught) - going from acrylic to watercolor, this makes it easier to adjust! thank you

1. Thank you so much Chris for this. What really helped me was seeing which colours you combine to achieve so many different shades. I hope you continue with this type of video. I have a few different paints, and the one you used here is one of them. Just the simple act of removing them, and placing them in the proper order of hues makes such a difference. I did take your advice and buy Princeton brushes and am very happy with them. Thanks again! A Canadian fan!

I've been using blue painters tape that I stick to my pants a few times before holding and masking off my watercolor papers. So far it works in making it less sticky and less likely to tear my paper.

I just started exploring water colours. I am doing each painting 4 times on each page over a couple of days. It lets me see where I need to improve and what a great comparison between each one!

I’m 54, just bought Gambai Tambi watercolors, I’ve only played around with them so far getting the feel of the brushes, doing swatch sheets etc.

Using a common and inexpensive paint set to demo was incredibly helpful. It was way less intimidating than a palette of expensive or mysterious colors. I've painted with oils and acrylics for many years; I am just now branching into watercolors. I followed along and really enjoyed the painting. Thanks!

I love that he keeps the pallet in sight in the video and shows mixing the paints. As a beginner I have no idea how to mix the colors. Many videos just show a brush and an the paper.

Loved the video Chris! I started learning watercolors last year during lockdown but hadn't really picked up a daily or routine painting practice. This video, however, helped reinvigorate that interest and I'd definitely be interested in seeing more beginner, essential technique-type videos!

Hi Chris! 1! Yes, I'm a complete beginner / I know just about NOTHING about using watercolors properly. I'm almost an hour into your video and I have to say I'm really enjoying the way you teach - your low stress approach is SO helpful to such an intimidating process (an older sister was really good at this and I just never felt I could even pick up a brush!) and you make it feel easy with the steps you take us through.
