When I heard this, I thought, "Man...this person is really nine? Well this nine year old is a wise, wise, friend.
It is hard to accept the fact that everyone has their own lives, own problems to deal with. You ask them to take a little time out for you and probably think _how hard can it be?_ And when they don't, you may lash out, you may hold back tears, you may make jokes to hide that you feel hurt, or you may just feel hurt and go back to your room.
They tell you to understand their situation and you can't, or don't, or won't. Easier said than done. You start telling yourself to hold back then. They have a life, their own problems,this isn't under your control.
But the worst part comes, when you _do_ hold back, and succeed at it...until that one time comes when you fail. Maybe that _one time_ that person does take out time for you, and you let it fill you up with hope. Funny how one second can change the direction of the wind so quickly. But ofcourse the hope doesn't last long and you start from zero again.
It is hard to tell yourself to understand the other person's situation, to just be happy with what you've got, be satisfied, because if you have even one person who loves you, you've got it all. Crazy, how ambitious, violent, intelligent, strong and whatnot humans can be. But crumble because of love. Love is not everything, it is also not the only thing, but it definitely is the greatest thing of all. And its hard to tell yourself that that's enough.
However if you don't, then you start falling at night, you don't fly, you don't float, you fall, because you can't control the lives of your loved ones, and that's okay. Because otherwise, you fall, every single night.
