BTW, I am currently writing my master's thesis, and I am also facing the issue of unbalanced panel data. I have a firm-level panel data from 2003 to 2021(total: 19 years). Y=output, L=number of labor, K=capital, A=R&D expenditure. I am not sure if it is appropriate to retain data for more than 15 years (in my case, max=19 years)? Thank you!
The min will define, if min is above or equal 19 it will tell that all cross sections have 19 years. If min is nearing 19 or average is above 19 you should go for dynamic panel data models
Hello. I have co2 as my dv and 4 independent variables. When I interpolate for the missing values, will I use the generated variables in the panel model xtreg y1 a1 b1 c1 d1 or I should use the original variables xtreg y a b c d ?
Use new names as it has the interpolated data
hello sir i hope ill get reply my study is on bonds where my dependent variable is yields on bonds so annual yields of bond for 11 years each year the dependent variable increases and the independent variables remains same for each dependent variable I have same independent variable data Im not getting how to start my analysis please suggest something my data is unbalanced my total bonds are 401 where for first year its only 4 then it goes on increasing year by year
You can estimate them seperately. If you want to estimate them together then you have to make proper panel data structure where even if the dependent variable data is not there its cross section and time identifier must be present.

Well if the data is high frequency then why dont you use timeseries analysis
Hello, i have panel data of 50 countries over 20 years time period each. I took 5 years average for every country. So now total obs are 200 each country contains 4 values. How can i declare this in stata bcz when i applied unit roots it gave me an error that my data is in gaps. Can u tell the command for this or how can i solve this isse.
No you need to name your years like 2000-05 2006-10 etc as they re average of 5 years. And then name the first year as 1 and second year as 2 then when you do the xtset it will not give error
