I’m in trouble with EVE!

- I Hope it’s not the bearings, that would be a major issue and I would have to see a repair shop asap in Iran. But what else would it be? I was hoping i would stay out of motorcycle problems here because it’s all very difficult for me to manage because of the language barrier and organizing parts. Other than that, charging was a big deal today, popping fuses all the time! I guess now the real adventure begins, it’ll be alright🤙🏼

Thanks guys 🤙🏼
Hotel looked great. Hoping the bearing holds out a little longer. Doesn’t sound great, but you've got us all tuning into the next episode to find out. Good luck 👍
Fingers crossed 🤞🏼
Marc, to❤day I made the decision, I will ride my bike from the Mexican border to the most northern point in North America! Leaving at the end of May 24, taking off at least two months or what ever it takes. That is because of you! I should have done all this when I was your age. 35 years later, I'm ready!! Living in the moment!
Awesome man, I love this comment so much and I wish you a fantastic journey 🙌🏼
When you see trouble ahead - the fear of something is always worse than the reality. Good people will always help you find a solution.
Yeah I’m sure it‘ll be alright
@@MarcTravelsHi Marc, Wish you always be alright
I like to know your idea about our county food , Which of Iranian food is your favorite?
3 days ago UA-cam suggested your videos to me! I dont know why , maybe because I come from Iran 😅.
I am so thanksful from you to show my country calture, nature, historical place and ... to all people around the world.
That's one hell of a challenge. From your travels there's a lot to learn.
Yeah many more challenges ahead 🙌🏼
That's the bearing the "Zero" said the grease/oil leaking from it was normal. If that's the problem Zero will have the bearing dimensions. There nothing special about bearings, in larger cities you may be able to secure a replacement and have mechanic change it out. It appears it's easy to access. I'll give you credit, Marc, the stress of finding the next electrical outlet would drive me crazy.
Haha yeah that leak was definitely not normal 😅 the seal was broken but fixed in Berlin. Let’s see what the problem is tomorrow 🤙🏼
thats the way
Hello Marc,
I am and Iranian exile for almost 40 years. I loved your journey though Iran.
I am a member of your channel now with a monthly contribution of $6.00.
Thank you so much 🤙🏼
You are the man of dealing with whatever coming for the first time. 👍
Yeah it’s a real challenge here in Iran for sure 🙌🏼
Hope you safety at first. You may need to order some parts online. Hence, you should be in country that international posting system delivers fast. but I think that your bearings can be replaced if you see a mechanic in a capital or relatively large city. For example in Iran you can find any size of bearing in Tehran if you need to replace. Ride safe Marc@@MarcTravels
I love the part when you were running with those Hondas!
Me too 🤩
Marc, you sure know how to keep us on a knife edge. I do hope this turns out to be something small. Keep us posted.
Yeah fingers crossed 🤞🏼
It does sound like it could be the bearing, but it also could be a loose pulley (for the belt). If you feel adventurous, loosen the belt and see if you feel any play in the shaft and/or the pulley. If you can pull the cover off the besting, maybe pushing some bearing grease will lessen the noise (won’ fix if worn, but it will slow down the wear). If the pulley is loose, try tightening the bolts.
Alright thanks for the tips 🤙🏼
Hi Marc.
I am Iranian. I am very happy that you are in my country.
To charge a motorcycle or an electric car in Iran with regular city electricity, you should usually set the charger to a maximum of 10 to 12 amps. While fast charging stations recommend 12 amps to 20 amps, you should not set the motor charger to more than 10 amps in Iran's urban electricity.
Okay thanks 👍🏼
I hope Marc had numbered the videos sequentially and mention the country and town names
Statistically, you are more likely to have an accident close to home because you are close to home more often than anywhere else. Sounds like you have lost a bearing. Another great video Marc.
That makes sense 👍🏼👍🏼
13:47 riding behind a truck is the most stressful thing 😂😂 even watching that from a video
Especially because they go so fast in Iran 🫣
Dear Marc, I had driven over 60,000 km with my DSR before the bearing on my engine sounded exactly like this. I drove another 5000km with the noisy bearing and then bought the new DSR/X. I sold my old DSR with the bearing damage and the new owner is still driving it as far as I know...
I've also had days like this where charging the motorcycle was really difficult because there were only a few charging stations and they didn't work...
My thoughts are with you, don't give up, your path always continues somehow! And no one can take away what you have experienced so far! Big hug from a distance.
Alright, thanks man🤙🏼
Hard to diagnose the noise from a video but could just be a small rock between the pulley and the motor bearing. If a bearing is going bad I think the noise would be there all the time. Sounds like it comes and goes??? Good Luck Marc!
It’s all the time at least under pressure that is now
@@MarcTravelsif its at the same place in the pulleys rotation.. itll likely be the case hardening in the inner or outter bearing race.. if its at different points of the pulley rotation itll be one or maybe two of the bearings balls chipping breaking up.. just hope its the former.. once the balls go the bearing will collapse so be VERY vigilent with watching its progress.. .. cheers NZ
Bearing are amasing engineering.. we don't think about until they talk to us.. then we don't want to think about them.. even more
4:42 Man I love your art!!😍😍😍😍
It is really a mindset to travel on an electric motorcycle, let's face it: not many riders want to deal with the hassle of charging, especially when you have to lower down to 10A. Still, you're an inspiration to many 👍I hope that bearing issue is not too bad
Thanks man, I will get it sorted in the next video 😊
Keep going, Marc, you are amazing ;)
Will do 🤗🤙🏼
Don’t be too discouraged. It’ll work out.
It always does 👍🏼
Wishing luck for you and your bearing Marc
Thanks 😊
You will make it to your final destination, you are doing great and I am impressed about your performance. Many thanks for the great videos!!
Thanks for watching 🤩
Hi Marc, I hope you had a good trip and the difficulty of this trip will be a memory for you. Subhan from iran
Marc you are in a place in the world where the people always figure out how to fix everything for their self, ask the other motorist guys at the street they for sure help you to finds the bearings or to fix it
Ride safe and thanks again for sharing your trip 👍✊🏻
It‘ll be Fine 🤙🏼

Thanks mate ❤️
I’ve seen a few travel vlogs, and each one that goes Iran -> Pakistan, they’ve all said it’s a shock coming from the very open friendly Iranians, to only being able to travel with police escort in Pakistan… don’t know if that’s changed, but be ready! Also, noticed the passenger not giving a “thumbs up” on the motorbike - might want to find out if thumbs up means something different in Iran 😅
It has not changed😅
Police escort is only given when u enter from iran to Pakistan , when u reach Quetta city then ur on ur own 😁 .. well people in Pakistan are so hospitable so dont worry u wont face any difficulty over here in sha Allah .. stay blessed bro
@@Kiyani-vlogs well, I guess we’ll see about that👮🏻♂️. But yes people are very friendly in Pakistan as well
@@MarcTravels Hello, I think it might be a bit late to say this, but in some places in Iran, showing the thumbs-up sign is considered bad (to the extent of being an insult). I think it's really too late to tell Marc this, but try to show this sign less in Iran. However, on the contrary, when you put the palm of your hand on your chest to thank someone, or when you feel like showing a thumbs-up from a distance, it's good to just show the palm of your hand forward with your elbow bent, the other person will be very happy. I was surprised that you didn't visit Shiraz, Marc. I wish you had explored more around there, you missed many amazing historical sights.
Peace be upon you. There are skilled lathes and engine builders in Iran, if you ask the hotel staff, they will help you. Wishing you success
Yes, that’s a great idea…they’ll help 👍🏼
Wünsche ich dir viel Spaß und hoffe es fühlst du dich im Iran wohl 👌🌹
Vielen Dank 🤗
I love vlogs from Iran plus motor vlog makes it perfect
Wow! Rough day! Sorry for that. But, as always, you met some friendly people and were able to discuss Eve’s battery and motor 😊
Fingers crossed it’s not a broken bearing. But I’m afraid that’s likely what it is…
Thanks for sharing, Marc!
Ride safe.
Ride smart.
Have fun!
We‘ll find out 🤗
You came to my city Bardsir, Kerman, that's so cool.👍
As you know Marc I am loving your adventure and I always look forward to the next instalment. Just keep having fun and I’ll keep liking every single thing that you post.
Awesome 🤩
Stay strong and safe Marc! we are worried about you🧡
No need to worry 🤗
I think your overdue some good luck, hope you can resolve the bearing issue sooner than later, hopefully someone will see your vid and be in a position to help out. Ride safe
It’ll be fine 🤗
Well done man!
Good things come with positive thinking and hard work.
KEEP GOING and I hope one day you will be riding EVE on the roads of New Zealand!
I can’t wait 🤩
Great video thank you very well done.
Thanks Bruce 🤙🏼
Another amazing video Marc, thank you fkr sharing.
Eve certainly the star of the day, wow so much attention you do brilliantly coping with it all. Just amazing!
Hopefully Eve is not too poorly and its nothing too serious. Talk about 'edge of your seat' viewing. 👍🏻
Stay safe mate and we all are crossing our fingers for you 🤞🏻
Thanks mate 🤙🏼
your videos always make my day
That’s awesome 🤩
Keep going man i wish you the best luck❤
Thanks man, will always keep going 🤗
Might you consider a partial sheepskin cover for your bike seat? I find them quite comfortable. Keep up the great moto-journalism
Thanks for the tip!
That was the best video Marc.......riding at night is very adventurous
Yeah and scary too 😅
Slippery roads like in the northern part of Krete (horrifying). For getting more comfotz try to get a Gel-Pad (Saddle-Pad for horses) for your seat. I "pimped" my lowerded DR BIG seat with a
gel pad since more then ten years, still working finest.
Awesome, great idea! Thanks man 🤙🏼
Great video, keep going bearing or not you'll do it.
For sure 💪🏼
I know that these days have passed, but I hope that you will successfully overcome the upcoming challenges
As an iranian, I would like to know your opinion about Iran and I hope you can see the sights and other parts of Iran in the future because you only visited the desert parts of Iran but I know that's because you can't visited the cities and you wanted to be in the roads.
your vlogs are great 💥💥💥
Thanks 🤙🏼
have a safe adventure 😍 😍 love from Iran
Thanks 🤙🏼
If I were in your situation I would take the belt off and see how the front pulley feels. It may just be lose, but with the belt off it will give you a better feel.
Fingers crossed it keeps you travelling. Never forget there's over 50000 of us keeping you in our thoughts and wanting you to keep going.
Thanks Eddie 🤙🏼
Omg traveling around with an electric bike. Good job man ❤
Can’t wait to get charging stations back 🫣
Great pictures!
I understand that it annoys you when things don't go well on some days.
I don't think it's the bearing. It may be that the pulley is no longer firmly attached to the motor shaft. sometimes it comes loose and then the pinion wears out.
but the problem is not easier to solve. I hope you get help and a solution to the problem.
You might be on to something 👍🏼👍🏼
As always 🤟🔥🤘
Love from Mizoram
Cheers mate 🤙🏼
Good job Marc
Cheers mate 🤙🏼
Just for the information in Iran's main language: Persian: Germany is Alman, German is Almani. In Pakistan's main language: Urdu: it's exactly the same as in English: Germany/German. Historically Iran had more French influence and Pakistan, British influence. Also in Iran, they use the same word as in German for Motorway: Autobahn (pronounced Otobahn). In Pakistan: same as in England: Motorway! Enjoy your trip!
From your replies to the comments seems like everything is looking good and your bike is still up and running.
Yes 👍🏼 it was never not up and running 🤗
Maybe the bearings just dried out. I think i saw on the video a little rust on the shaft (sorry english is my secondary language and maybe its not called like that) anyway try to find some silicone spray for lubrication ideally for higer temperatures at least 250 degrees celsius (or what ever you find) and try to spray it near the shaft and maybe lubricate the balls in the bearing. Good luck!
Okay 👌🏼
Cheers 🤙🏼
Mate I don't know how you cope with the constant attention and same questions, it would make my head explode. Well done 👍🏼
It was a bit unfortunate with the big bus having a break for an hour and me charging at the toilets 😅
With all that sand around I would think some may have worked into the bearing maybe flush it out. I hope it lasts until you get out of the country.🤞🤞 Keep up the great adventure.
I hope so too🤞🏼
Sounds like a pulley loose on the shaft. Take off the belt and check if you feel loose on the pulley bo making side to side and in and out movements.
Sounds like you’re on to something 👍🏼
The BEST content on UA-cam. You’re doing what I’d love to do but to be honest my balls aren’t big enough. I doubt I’ll ever go to Iran but you have taken me there. I’ve been following since the early Honda vids and the production quality is always fantastic. Stay safe, let’s do this!
Hey @zeromotorcycleseurope help this guy out!!
That’s awesome man 🤩
We need someone to send a Bearing to yo for EVE, is here somebody in the community who has a Zero Shop or knows somebody?
maybe a bigger town can help with finding a similar bearing. thats the way i would do. and for further problems buy two
It‘s all good man, I’ll sort it out ❤️
Hello Marc, I hope you have a good and safe trip in my country, Iran, of course I'm sure you will. Regarding the food, I must say that in Iran they don't take money for food in advance and you have to pay for it for each child, I hope that the misunderstanding will be resolved.be safe buddy😊
Yeah I paid for it after dinner but it doesn’t matter, mix ups happen anywhere especially with the language barrier 😉 all good 👍🏼
@@MarcTravelsgood luck bud👍
Thank you for the videos،I hope you don't get into trouble with Eve
It‘ll be Fine 🤗
Awesome trip man. Stressful situation with the bearing. Perhaps you have already resolved this matter, but in this situation i would have relaxed the belt tension a bit until I could find a good mechanic. Relaxed belt would mean more wear on the belt, but less on the bearing. Since you have spare belts that should be no problem.
Alright good tip! I always have it way under what the manufacturer suggested, I think it’s way to tight otherwise. Will sort it out in the next video 💪🏼
Bearing job is simple
Fingers crossed 🤞
Okay cool 👍🏼
Don't worry about the bike👍👍👍
It’s hard not to worry when it’s all you‘ve got🫣
Oh marc i think your next target is Zahedan wich is near to my home(zabol)
If you listen to me, please don't pass through the cities of Iranshahr, Khash Saravan and... because they are very dangerous, there are sometimes terrorist attacks there not to center of the city but near the border of iran and Pakistan to Turrets. Be safe my friend❤
And I wish you best and glad to see you in iran❤❤
Thanks for the tips 🤙🏼
Yeah let’s see, it‘ll be alright 🤗
Hi I'm from Iran..i saw your video .. just a heads up.. don't leave your bike or your stuff alone.. good luck
I won’t 👍🏼
dont forget to check out isfahan its a big city with a lot of Antiquities
Alright 🤙🏼
Hope it will be ok for you, I cross m'y fingers !
Thanks man🤙🏼
It's nothing, put some grease on the bearing, maybe it's dry or the bumps on the road have made it abnormal, however, it won't cause any special technical problem for you, Mark.
Alright 👍🏼
Full power strip plugged into an extension cord? Sure you can fast charge off that...😮😅.
fingers crossed for loose bolt instead of worn bearing...I just went and looked a vid of the drive bearing on a Zero. I don't know what model it was, but I really hope yours and all other Zeros now come with a better- sealed bearing there than circlip and one rubber cover.
Stay Strong😎❤
Will do🤙🏼
I think you bought a lemon.🏍️
Yeah I definitely did, battery is also the second one already 🫣
You always find a solution , you have a lot a perseverance , keep on riding you can find a solution , maybe zero can offer assistance , they are aware of your travel... Alain & Yellow
Yeah they all watch the videos, I know😅
Haha the phantom fuse popper, you'll have your picture pasted every where. 'WANTED' THE PHANTOM FUSE POPPER' 😂
Here in Malta plugs are rated 13 amp. So if it is the same there, then over 10 amp, one is risking it. Great stuff Marc. Hope the knocking noise is sorted. Hope it's something simple. Having said that, bearings are compatible world wide also.
Alrighty mate 🤗🤙🏼
Dang that's a clunky sounding bearing, come on eve just a bit farther!
It wasn’t the bearing…next episode😉
Green Chile Adventure gear makes straps with rubber inline. It keeps a more constant tension on a 'shrinking' load. One could probably put a couple of short bungees inline with a strap to try it..
I've seen so many videos of Pakistani recycling/rebuilding I feel confident you will make it to Nepal. At least you're not starting a fire...
It‘ll be alright for. Sure 👍🏼
Hey! Greetings from Frankfurt!
I'm from Iran, but I currently reside in Germany. I really liked your videos, focused most of the time on the road and the challenges. I wish you had the time to visit the islands of Iran, especially Kish Island, Hormoz Island, and the Persian Gulf, but since you are in a hurry to go to Pakistan, I can recommend visiting Chabahar (a city in the south near the Pakistan border), which has lovely scenery and a beautiful beach. I hope you enjoy Iran and have fun!
I enjoy it very much ❤️
Chabahar isn't that good. I went there you just keep your planned schedule. Those motorcycle guys at Gas station in 11:00 they say you are German you are Aryan 👍
from iran love you man❤
Cheers 🤗
Du machst das was ich mit dem LKW gemacht habe und gerne mit dem Motorrad machen würde...schaue dir echt gerne über die Schulter...
Schön zu hören 🤗

Hello marc
Come to Shiraz, I will be happy to show you Shiraz, Shiraz is one of the most beautiful cities in Iran
keine sorge Markus , Du kannst in Tehran oder Mashhad dein bike reparieren , wenn es gebrauch ist
Also Ich vermisse dich und deine videos In iran . Du machst mein wünsch "Reisen mit einem Bike" ist immer meine wünsch
Viel erfolg Markus
Danke 🤩
Interesting ride, looks like a nice place to stay. Now you can find out (with help of Zero) what the noise could be. You probable want to know before taking that 6-700km ride to Pakistan. Keeping fingers crossed.
Yeah I will sort it out beforehand 👍🏼🤙🏼
I hope you can make a motorcycle,
good luck❤❤❤
❤❤❤❤
It‘ll be alright 👍🏼
Hi man, about the bearing it's wise to change it before it get worse and risking the rotor to hit the stator in the engine.
I bet at a random mechanic it's fairly easy to change it. Good luck!
Thanks for the tips!
I admire you. For accepting the risk of traveling with an electric motorcycle. Although I am not a fan of electric cars and I don't like them, but your work is great. Travel to unknown countries and challenges in your journey
Yeah it’s about the challenge! It’s exciting 🤗
I would also stay put if you can at that hotel ad 20 a night and be easy to get stuff shiped there if you need too m8
Eve got annoying noise, seems the old honda smiling right now.
Anyway, good luck for your next trip! 💪🏻
Haha 😂
It must be Friday. In Iran, there is an unwritten law that people can ride their unregistered big bikes during the weekend, which is Friday.
Alright that explains it
I found this on an electric motorcycle forum... does it help??
"I had nearly the exact same sound on my 2013 FX. Harlan at Hollywood Electrics suggested it might be a loose front pulley, and he was spot on! I loosened the belt tension, slipped the belt off the rear pulley, and could feel the play in the drive pulley with my hand."
"To fix it, I eased the belt tension, slipped the belt off the rear and front pulleys, removed the mounting bolts for the motor, removed the drive pulley setscrew and mounting bolt (yes, it was loose), and removed the pulley and its key. I applied a liberal amount of Loctite red (no, I never plan to disassemble this) to the motor shaft and keyway, reassembled it, and applied some Loctite red to the pulley bolt threads and setscrew threads, and tightened it all according to spec. Re-bolted the motor in, put the drive belt around the pulleys, re-tensioned the belt, and test-wheelied the bike. All good!"
Yes, i read that. Might be the same, will do that tomorrow 🤙🏼
20:50 that's how my first (and hopyfully only) accident happened. Last left turn to my home and a cat came out behind a bus on the other lane and I couldn't brake fast enough and fell. Broken pinky :( Bike was repaired! Thanks insurance! Maybe I was too silent...
That could have happened to anyone. Good everything worked out 🤙🏼
I just looked at the instruction to remove the motor from the bike on the service manual, and it's huge, but there is no published procedure to bearing replacement.
The manufacturer's policy on that is to send the whole motor back in California an get a new one.
The nearest Zero dealer to your position is in Abu Dhabi.
That would be a hell of a detour!
Yeah that would be a hell of a detour 🫣
Hi buddy. I'm Martin from Iran and live in Sweden. We'll come to our country. Just ask me if you need any information. Try to visit SHIRAZ, ESFAHAN and KISH. I think you're going to like it. How wonderful time.
Have**
Thanks 🤙🏼
even if it is bearing, you can find almost any type of bearings here (mostly in tehran)
Slippery roads, maybe all those cars like to shed some oil? 😊
And diesel for sure 😉
Hi. Maybe some bicycle padded shorts?
Yeah that might help 👍🏼
To my little eye, your front drive looks like a standard automotive cambelt/timing belt pulley z cost is less than £25/€30 in euroland(the bearing comes standard with a cambelt pulley)
If you can't get one from ZERO, any decent size auto spare shop in Iran should have one in stock, you may be able to get one with the exact same tooth count so gearing remains unchanged. If i were you I'd start finding out how to lock the motor to enable you to loosen the big fastnening bolt to remove the pulley and dont throw the old bolt away as it's probably a left hand thread, add some mefium strength loctite woukd be my advice)
Alright, thanks mate 🤙🏼
