Q&A with Deke Sharon - the man behind the music in Pitch Perfect!

Hello awesome nerds, I'm Deke Sharon, the music director of the Pitch Perfect films, and in fact the person that the character Benji was based on. That's right, I am the biggest a cappella nerd.
I had to audition for my group three times, even though I was great musically, my auditions were awesome, but I was overzealous, and back in the middle of the 1980s a cappella was not a cool thing, and they did not understand why I wanted to be in the group so much, so I had to audition three times, and on the third time I knew if I can get in they wouldn't take me, so I just had to pretend like I didn't care, and then they took me, and here we are!

Kelley did a cappella(member of SoCal Vocals) so I assume Deke Sharon was referring to her as the experienced one, but wasn't Anna Kendrick in an all girls choir in high school while on broadway？
