I think that the main point we are missing overall is that OW dedicated a lot more time into giving depth to their characters, actually if you search "overwatch hero lore compilation" or smth like that videos that are hours long will pop up. Even though you may argue that Valorant does have lore and a backstory it isn't as consistent, and most of the animations/easter eggs (like that one time they leaked Skye via an agent card) are usually destined to give little peaks about upcoming agents, maps or changes in the game. Overall I think Valorant approaches it's characters in a much more "serious" fashion than OW, with OW developers dedicating a lot more time to connect with the player and create a backstory and that's why OW characters will always be more recognizable.
