Great video! My biggest problem with this generation is that with the added weight, any of the cvt models paired with the 148hp 2.0 engine feel VERY underpowered now vs last gen. The N-Line and Limited with the 1.6T are adequate, but still aren't "quick", especially since the 2023 was faster because weight reduction. But tech wise, they're pretty good. Also it definitely looks like robocop lmao
@@imnotusingmyrealname4566 Can be 2-400lbs heavier than the 2023, yes. It isn't necessarily THAT much slower, but considering the older ones aren't really enough (by today's car's standards at least), the added weight for me pushes it from "acceptable" to "too slow". Also keep in mind as Bern mentioned in the video, this Kona was designed with an EV first mindset, so they weren't really focusing on weight, since the Kona EV has plenty of power, and just stuffed the old engines in as an afterthought. Source: I've worked at a Hyundai dealer for almost 2 years so I drive these daily
This is my second kona I had a 2021 kona limited traded it in for a 2024 kona limited 4:15 I absolutely love it. Great bang for your buck. Oh by the way it does have hands free tailgate
I like the rounded look. It’s not bad. Hyundai engines and power train have mostly been underwhelming compared to competitors. Ain’t their forte. It’s why they’ve embraced ev the quickest of the big manufacturers
We get very few new cars in my neck of southern Ohio, so when I saw a bright green Kona at our Hyundai dealer I nearly broke my neck to look at it. I’m sure these look more normal in more urban areas where the average vehicle isn’t a 15 year old Toyota or Chevy, but in my county any new car is enough to catch a side eye. I wonder how well these will age 🤔
Theres one in my area with the 1.6 Turbo that keeps trying to race me and I keep winning with my 3.8 2006 Hyundai Azera 😂 he's not usually that far behind but he really trys. I'm really interested in buying a Kona but do these have the Hyundai - Kia plague of the blown engines?

Really, it's that much heavier?
Thank you! That's a shame! Yeah the choice of using the old engines was a meh move. Probably to push EV's LOL

@@BernonCars LOL yeah, probably! If I had it my way, every Kona is getting an 8 speed with a 2.5T of course :)
They alao have a naturally aspirated 2.5L they use in the Tuscon, right? That could be a candidate, cheap, because no turbos and more powerful.
Caught up on the vids and its wild. Ive been eyeing the kona for my next vehicle
Haha nice
