Adam я восхищен вашей прекрасной работой в телеграфе. Достичь таких хороших показателей в столь короткое время с 2020 года, это талант, не каждому дано. Подписался

Absolutely superb!.. If CW is not ‘your thing’ you will never know the pleasure to be had from being able to read ‘flowing’ CW
as in this video.. Thanks for sharing.. John..G4EIJ

Love your videos. It’s inspiring me to learn CW.
One suggestion: it would be helpful to have two lines of text for subtitles. One for the actual code and another translating the CW shorthand into English.

Thank you for your kind words. Although not relevant at these speeds where almost everyone at this level knows what the slang and format mean, but I might do a video on some more and less frequently encountered things you hear. One thing I learned last week was the use of ERE for HERE. Never heard that one before. Thanks for the idea! 73 de SQ5VCO

Are you using any device to help decode the Morse incoming signal from your contact or are you able to follow it without such a device? If you can follow by ear, how long did it take you to get to this point? The reason I ask: I feel pretty good about sending Morse, but it is very frustrating receiving Morse.

    • @AdamSQ5VCO
      @AdamSQ5VCO  Рік тому

I have never used decoding software. I got licensed in Feb 2020 (stared learning code in Nov 2019). First QSOs at 10-13wpm in March 2020, summer 2021 was 20wpm and 24-26wpm autumn 2021, where I stayed until recently (summer 2022), because there weren’t much ops to work faster. But one day I made a rag chew at 35wpm (I was sending 30) and it felt quite comfortable, so I decided to move to calling at 30wpm and I’m starting to stabilise my sending at that level, though I can copy faster. I recommend CW Academy, but the thing that got ne the most progress was the morsecode.ninja website and videos.

Be glad you don't have essential tremor ( ;-) ) Nice key work. I run Begali keys exclusively. Only keys my shaky paws will work. And even then, going iambic just won't work here. But you have it made, Adam. Stay safe & well. 73 de W8IJN

Thanks. I would love a Begali Signature and almost took the plunge, but at current currency exchange rates can't justify the purchase, I'd rather spend it on radio related stuff otherwise, but I'm sure I'll get one someday.

Yes, I'm pretty satisfied with it, although it's my first rig. I was looking to upgrade to FTDX10, but I don't know, if that would make much of a difference apart from being a nice thing to look at.

I'm licensed since February 2020, I started learning CW late February 2019 when learning for the exam. Reached 20wpm in summer 2021, stayed at 26wpm for a few months to get comfortable and this summer 2022 I moved to 30wpm sending (I can receive english at 35wpm, but it requires good focus). I can now ragchew at 30-wpm. Good luck with learning CW, it takes time, but if you practice most days in a week, even just a short while, like 10 minutes or 1 good QSO, it will come to you naturally. Keep at it, but don't push yourself too hard.

It boggles my mind someone can read and transmit code like this. I’m just starting my journey and recognize a few characters but the rest is just song to me.

Good luck with your progress. It might comfort you, that I'm only licensed since February 2020. Just practice every day, even if it's 5 minutes. Listen more than copy to paper of mill. I think that using apps to evaluate progress (or lack thereof) is stressful when learning the code in the beginning (you skip practice because you are afraid that you will do poorly on the scire). Read before you copy - meaning that you can't copy what you ca't recognize in your head, writing down is the next step and in the end for standard QSOs you will want to headcopy anyway). I would listen and don't care if you get it or not. Start with 25wpm characters and larger spacing. I love morsecode.ninja videos. Listen to his single character videos and progress from there. It made a huge difference for me. GL de SQ5VCO

Yes, learn to head copy - spend a few minutes a day, and don't be afraid to go a bit faster than you are comfortable with - before long you will get it - and it's so satisfying when you do! Also - clean, properly sent code, with proper timing and spacing makes copy SO much easier. I can copy this 26 wpm pretty well (I've been doing this a while) - it's nicely sent - while sometimes I can't copy 15 wpm when someone runs the letters and words together, or alters the dit/dah timing. Makes for more work than necessary. CW is a GREAT mode - please, keep it up and learn it - it is so much fun! After all, anyone can yack into a microphone....😁

Hello! Is there an automatic tool you use to create the Morse code subtitles or you do it manually syncing the letters with the audio?

      Manually :-)

@@AdamSQ5VCO Yours are very well synced and these subtitles make cw more attractive to non cw ops. I'd like to do this in my videos but syncing manually is painful hehe

@@ve2zdx @André Luiz Actually it's pretty fast. I just use the "Typewriter" affect in my editing software (Filmora X) and first I transcribe to a text editor, create a subtitle region spanning the transcribed section in the video software and insert text. I guess it works for well sent code by itself ;-)
