    Awesome interview and legendary guest ! Indeed the Golden Age, as this takes me back. I hope more people will become aware of your channel. You got a true passion in this Shawn, and recording important history. Super interesting on many levels.

      I hope I can build the numbers a bit because it helps convince guests to trade their time to speak on the channel. But I also love the small, like minded and positive community that's building here, so maybe there's a happy medium number. My stuff is pretty niche within a largely apathetic bodybuilding subculture, so I probably don't have to worry about "sudden exponential growth" anytime soon 😂. Thanks always for the kind comments mate

    Hello Ed.
    Sam Cupac here.
    One of your 2 full time Gold's gym managers(myself and Kent Kuhn) from 1978-1980(Ken and Marion Sprague 1978 and you and Pete and Denny Doyle[then Tim and Barb Kimber] shortly there after).
    Just wanted to say hello and good to see you are happy and doing well.

    This was an incredibly entertaining and informative interview. I love the topics and questions you brought up, from Bob Paris and Mike Mentzer and Lou Ferrigno and things like how Mike was poisoned and Ray committed suiside. I never knew this. Even with why Dallas mcarver trained. Ed Connors has had an amazing life and knows so much about so many bodybuilders and the industry itself. Also what you said about today's body-building scene is exactly how I feel. The Olympia isn't what it use to be. It's like something is missing compared to when Haney, Dorian and Coleman were on top. I respect and admire the guys today but I just don't get excited like I use to throughout the eighties and nineties. Keep up the amazing work, you never dissapoint..

      Yes it was a relevation to me about Mentzer as well. Does that mean he was murdered or was it accidental?

      Hey Stefan. Thanks mate. I'm always very critical of my interviews and cringe every time I play them back, but finally I can say I was happy with this one. Ed helped by keeping a good tempo with his answers, balancing the stories without being overly long winded. Thanks for noticing the quality of the questions because I try to go deep and from a different angle without being overly sensationalistic

    An amazing interview. Very enlightening. Seems like Craig Titus was trouble from the start and it's not surprising where he ended up. When a venerable man such as Ed Connors describes the sorry state of current Bodybuilding, you know it is in a moribund condition. Greed seems to be at the heart of its corruption.

    That's news to me that Mentzer died of a drugs overdose, but that doesn't surprise me. I saved up as a teenager to buy that workout DVD with mike training that German bodybuilder. I was shocked how bad Mike looked for someone under 50 and how he seemed to smoke one ciggie after another. I also felt let down how they filmed it. They were claiming the bodybuilder Markus someone or other was training only once every seven or eight days but they included behind the scenes footage which clearly showed they filmed the whole thing over a few days. Funnily enough this didn't stop me training HIT i just started buying Ellington Darden's books. But it took buying a few of his books for me to realize once you've read one you've read them all. He's a very good story teller though and I don't think he promotes HIT anymore.
    As for Elon Musk he's a complete charlatan. Common sense skeptic has gone a decent job of exposing him. Nothing is clear cut with apple either. DARPA developed Siri. I've got bodybuilding to thank for making me look at things beyond face value.

      @carvedouttastone  8 місяців тому +1

      Great comment mate. Ellington Darden has just released a new book I see, lol. Maybe I should interview him because he spent a lot of time with Jones and the big names of the day. Not a Musk fan? I read the recent biography on him and enjoyed it. What's your thoughts for disliking Musk - i don't know much about him beyond the books I've read

    • @DH-zp7bc
      @DH-zp7bc 8 місяців тому +1

      @@carvedouttastone Yes, get Darden on if he'll agree to it. His stories about Arthur Jones are always interesting.
      Musk manipulates the share price of Tesla. Common sense skeptic has gone into this in some detail. He didn't invent tesla but bought off co founders. He's not autistic but narcissistic. There's no evidence of an autism diagnosis. His truck is a a complete flop. Rumour is that lesbian that tried to ruin Johnny Depp freezed her eggs when she was with Musk - she's since has kids. That creepy UA-camr lex someone or other is basically paid to be pro musk. X is a flop. He's a second grade engineer. He has inherited wealth. His cars self combust it's never ending. At least with Nautilus Arthur Jones didn't invent them and the equipment is still seen as still some of the best now after all this time. Dorian Yates bought MedX. They showcased nautilus equipment in one of those bill and ted movies.
