This brings nice memories for Dawn and I, as she was a volunteer here and I was a warden at RSPB titchwell. She came over for a days volunteering at Titchwell and that's where we met 17 years ago. I was later interviewed twice for a warden's job at Freiston and failed on both occasions despite having a sneaky look at the questions before the first one while the panel were at lunch. The silly sods had left them on the interviewers chair and the office door wide open...what's a boy to do? Still, I didn't get the job so maybe there is such a thing as Karma. Cheers for this video Sean, looking forward to the next one, Paul
Again, totally new to me. It looks like you really enjoy making these videos and I certainly enjoy the detail and consistency of the content. We always look forward to our monthly instalment, thank you.
Sean, if you are not aware you can always go online and find out the warden of the church your are visiting and they will often meet you and unlock the church for you. Just a thought. Lovely Vlog. Thank you.
Hello Sean what another amazing fantastic interesting video. I never ever heard about anything about that place before. Its was interesting to know about it all. Well done. U must be so proud. Looking forward to more videos. Hope u r OK. Xxx
Blimey, that Freiston really has some history to it, funny to think that old ruined hotel would have once been a hive of activity, pity it went to ruin. Thankyou for another amazing film, seriously interesting scenery and stories twinned well together. Have you tried or been to the stretch of track, now a foot/cycle path between Skellingthorpe and Fledborough viaduct Sean, there is an old church or two near to the viaduct. Got to be some history you can learn there and some folk tales. I cycle it regularly its a nice stretch.
Brilliant work Sean, i grew up in Freiston spending 18 years there. I might be wrong, but i always assumed the spittle hill was at the top of Foxhole lane (a single track that leads off butterwick road). The lane always had a erie feel about it. There is also a tunnel leading from the church to the old priory.
Thank you, well yes i am sure you are right about Spittle Hill. I dont know the area i think I was on Spittal Hill Road. Thanks for the info, wish I had known about the tunnel👍
Thank you for another nice excursion! The countryside, former shore, and military ruins of Freiston are very cool, and the ancient church with its magnificent baptismal font is impressive. I'm envious of your cool weather as summer heat has come early to central Texas :( Looking forward to your next vid!
Thank you for joining me I am pleased you enjoyed the walk. Well, the weather here has got a lot warmer since I made the video but its still not warm enough for my liking. Please send some Texas weather my way :-) Thanks again.
Great work. I’ve been watching all your videos as I am moving to Lincolnshire and love folk history. Look forward to following in your footsteps on my bike and exploring my soon to be home county. Cheers!
Hi Sean! Have I told you yet that I really enjoy your videos? Keep making them. You seem like a down to earth person who would be fun to have as a friend.
Cheers Lyndon, the place has a lot of atmosphere, it would make a great setting for an M. R. James ghost story adaptation. Thanks again looking forward to your next adventure.👍
Hi Sean just wondering where you'd got to then you pop up with this little gem!! Brilliant video as always.. Thanks so much for taking the time to visit and post .....Well done!
Saturday my nephew told me he’d moved to Freiston. Never heard of it. Got home, your video was waiting. Is the place calling me? ‘He walks the track, with a sack on his back - an’ ‘is earhole painted green, I know!’ 👍
Hi Sean!! What a great tour today. I was just going to come on and look for the new videos and here you are. The Church and graveyard are magnificent, so happy they allowed you in. Thank you for a view into the past and the beautiful countryside. Much love from AZ. FYI enjoy your cool weather we are in the high 90s F today.
Thank you Kari, I am glad you enjoyed my meanderings. Well I never enjoy our cool weather. However, its a lot warmer now 22.c today, I wish it was in the 90s
Very interesting sean..the master of storytelling strikes again.🙂 please post more..I'm off work with covid and a chest infection and this is just the medicine I need.thank you.👍
You do get around Sean. That church ⛪ seemed rather large for such a small parish. Sadly i cannot see anyone other than a vagrant taking a holiday on that sea front nowadays. Thanks for taking us around. Cheers 😁
It was my pleasure Kelly. Yes, the church was once part of Freiston priory. Well i didn`t see any vagrants, but I met a nice couple called Tubbs and Edward. They were burying something suspiciously body-shaped on the marshes😁.
@@kellyshaw7271 Yes, I visited Hadfield when I worked a pantomime season at Stockport Plazza. it was quite a surreal experience walking around Royston Vasey.

I’m from Boston and I’ve enjoyed your content for quite a while, I was wondering if the information you’ve gathered were from folk lore tellers at pubs or have you done a lot of research yourself? I’m wondering because I love local history and folk lore and would like to learn more, thank you for posting this kind of content.
Hello my friend and thank you so much. Well, the best place to research local history is the department for local studies at the public library. Apart from books and old periodicals they should also have a newspaper archive. I have found a great many stories about ghosts and legends in old news paper articles. Yes, it can be very time-consuming, but its a good way to spend an otherwise boring afternoon. I hope this has helped a bit? Thanks again.👍
Hi Sean! Hope you are well! I've been looking forward to your new vid!! Brilliant as always! It almost reminds me of the Yorkshire Moors! You look like Heathcliff surveying the landscape!! On a less romantic note 🤣 How fantastic to see all the war buildings in tact and in such great condition. I thought straight away how refreshing it is to see no graffiti and vandalism!! Fab how preserved it is.. And what a lovely little Church! Love the Sheep! What a great idea. I could do with a couple in my garden 🤣 bless them. Look forward to the next one as always. XxX

Well, the only ghost that i know of is the grey lady who haunts Wainfleet library. The earliest known referance to the ghost was when she was seen by the headmaster in the 1930`s when the building was a grammar school. But she has not been seen for at least 20 years to my knowlege.👻👻
