Notes and corrections:
1) Fanatec’s v3 inverted pedals are not $1,000; I converted to Canadian and added delivery
2) the mic gate sounds are annoying, sorry about that; my (expensive) pre amp is dying and I refuse to let go
3) sorry for the messy hair, it gets windy in the studio some days
Thanks for watching!
Hi SR604, Spinelli here, can you PM me on Steam? Same username (account pic is the front view of a red cartoon F1 car). I'd like to ask you something but it's kind of private. Hope to hear from you.
@@Spinelli__ hi! You can reach me via email at mikesmithpm at gmail dot com
One thing that you forgot is another 20e in shipping costs for Europe, which totally turns down a big bunch of the customers.
I really appreciate your honesty regarding the price I was thinking the exact same thing. It shows your number one priority is your viewers.
Hey - thank you for that percentage of travel data. That, along with your eventual preference, helped me to make a more pointed decision on what to buy rather than buying two of each for testing. I am going with the single progressive for 20% more pedal travel. Thanks again!!!
I was having a hard time getting use to the CSL load cell brake until I got these 3drap using 2 progressive feel great now good quality parts love them
Great timing Mike, I just received my 3DRap kit today! I purchased (2) hybrid sets along with a pair of sim socks. I can't wait to try them out.
Good review, summed up my thoughts exactly. I bought the hybrid kit and ended up with the same setup as you, just using a single progressive elastomer.
The great thing about these pedals are the mod ability. I designed and sell a kit in the uk to upgrade the throttle and clutch to feel a lot better, and with that plus the progressive elastomer, these pedals punch well above their price range!
Link to your kits that you sell?
What kits are they that you design?
Good video Mike, I got the CSL DD on the first wave of pre orders then added the CSL pedals with LC some months afterwards. Really happy with it as standard but I think you can adjust to anything with some time. The less you change things the better your feel and muscle memory becomes.
Thanks for the review. It's very helpful!
In all fairness, if you buy 1 progressive and 1 linear, you have 3 different added travel options: 20% (progressive), 36% (linear), and 43% (hybrid) -I think that gives you a good variation of added travel in your brake pedal. I started with the hybrid combination and have now switched to the linear setup for a slightly reduced pedal travel :)
I've been eyeing these for a bit. Thanks for the review, I bought the 1x progressive elastomer. I've always wanted a bit more 'squish' ever since I got my LC.
Agree with you on the price.
Bought a linear and wish I had a progressive, but they're too expensive for me to fix that mistake.
Bought the hybrid set because I figure I can at least try 3 different combinations; they arrive tomorrow.
I just couldn't get on with how hard my brake pedal is, virtually no travel at all. I know LC is based on pressure, not travel, but a little travel wouldn't go amiss!
When I had T-LCM pedals, 3drap solution improved the feel so much. With stock red springs, which are the two hardest, it doesn't feel progressive and after a couple of week use, it's not good. If you buy 3drap solution for TLCM, and stack the elastomer, red spring and on top a couple of spacers (this is my finding), so that when they are fully released, loadcell is engaged at 10%, then you get really good progressive feel and it completely changes the brake feel. But T-LCM came out so long ago, I wouldn't recommend them anymore. Nowadays, there are a lot more pedal offerings.
If I judge from my 3drap + TLCM experience, I would guess it improves Fanatec LC feel. But if you buy Fana LC + 3drap elastomers + LC faceplates, then you are almost in the 400 price range where there are now a lot of different offerings, and you get much better customization from the start.
Yes, we’ll said. The total price really adds up quickly. And thanks for the story about the elastomer wearing out. I’ll definitely keep an eye out for that long term.
thanks for sharing this info, my load cell pedal is in the mail. i do agree this mod is a bit on the expensive side.
Great video Mike. I’m still confused why Fanatec themselves haven’t jumped on this bandwagon. And if they did I think they’d actually price replacement elastomers a lot more competitively. Can you imagine going to the hardware store for a tap washer for your sink and being asked to pay $30. Sim scene tax strikes again.
The upgrade is nice but i find with the linear i use about 90% of the load cell in non braking intensive games like dirt rally and in some thing like ACC im maxing it out ...did significantly increase my ability to trail brake tho. Overall i enjoy the pedal feel . Overpriced for what it is but it works well
I settled on 1x linear with stock elastomers. But your findings are the same as mine. I only purchased the hybrid set and the bushings. Two 3DRap elastomers was far too mushy.
Thanks for the video. I've found the existing CSL load cell brake to be too firm with my Next Level Racing 2.0 wheel stand while wearing socks. Do you think the modded breaks would be usable with a wheel stand, with a chair wheel cradle, while wearing just socks? Thanks again.
It depends on how rugged your feet are of course, but I think for most people it should be fine to use with socks
@@SimRacing604 Thanks. I appreciate your great work, podcast, and response! Cheers.
I have Thrustmaster T3PA pedals and the rubber conical brake mod has transformed my _big stop_ braking progression, having come from a pure potentiometer T300 base pedal set. This looks to do similar I suspect.
I hope you cover the throttle and clutch mods they are coming out with.
Thank you for the interest! I would love to try them. If 3DRap contacts me again I’ll make the request that they send those mods as well
Yes, I’m curious if the throttle mod would help. I always wear shoes when sim racing. If I’m dropping racks on sim gear for immersion it seems counterproductive to wear socks. I have a heavy foot so yeah, the throttle tends to get mashed to the point of spinning out from time to time.
I wanna print this by myself. Does anyone know what Strengh of Tpu they use? I guess it is around A80????
This should come with the pedal set. I ordered 2 progressive yesterday, total about $50. But the out of the box break is just horrible and very disappointing.
Will these pieces work with the cls elite first version
Don't know if you happen to know if the pedal plates for the older CSR Elite pedals would fit on the CSL Pedals?
Unfortunately I don’t. That’s a good question.
Hey, where'd you get that shirt?
It’s from a website called Blipshift. This particular shirt stopped selling in 2018, but they have newer, better ones
@@SimRacing604 damn... I really wanted that one lol. I'll ask them and keep an eye out, thank you!
Fanatec will probably fix this almost everyone got broken washers
a few years on and they are still really expensive...
I was an idiot and got the absolute base pedals fanatec offers they suck and slow me down lol.
You’re not an idiot at all! Those pedals are a great entry level set, and you can upgrade to an LC when you have the funds.
@@SimRacing604 true after a year of hearing myself rant about "lacking confidence in the brakes" it is time to upgrade for sure lol! I enjoy what you do for all of us cheers Mike!
The voodoo science of breaking crazy expensive. I would have another company modding my products shame on you fanatec.😂🇨🇦
"budget". No hate, just crying with my g27 😭
That definition is moving, for sure.
@nlp I got the AXC TrueBrake mod for my G27 pedals and love it. I currently am using my modded G27 pedals with a CSL DD I got in January.
Here's the Sim Racing Garage review of the mod. ua-cam.com/video/0N7Ntrsl3qA/v-deo.html
@@LorenWong626 dyou wanna share it maybe? 😂
I ran the Logitech pedals with the TrueBrake mod for a year before getting the CSL LC and it’s a great mod, as close to a LC as you can get. I love the CSL pedals but it’s not the night and day difference some would have you believe.
