I saw the tool you used to remove the aerator. I had the idea of using a butter knife and it worked.
My inner faucet screen broke off and it wont screw anymore with the key.
Do you know if there is anyway I could still take off the rusted inside faucet water screen?
I had a lot of trouble figuring out which of the four tools to use, so I pressed some plumbers putty flat against the aerator and used the impression to figure it out. Thanks for the video.
What if you don’t have that specific tool, how would you remove the aerator?
Thank you I just changed all my areators today 😮 they needed to be replaced
There has got to be a homemade hack way to open this without a specialized tool
Man this was the question I was looking for, but going off the answers, I might just order the specialized tool
@@mrgene8385 Yea I ended up just buying a set of them and now they're in my garage forever. Just buy em :D
My recessed aerator won’t come out AT ALL. It’s seized up in there. Any tips for getting a seized aerator out??? The key won’t budge it.
Thank you so much you saved me costs of a plumber
Do you sell the screen removal tools you used to remove the flush faucet screen. If so how much and how to order them. Prefer the set you had in your hand.
It's hard to do when I can't move the faucet upside down like you do. Any tips for doing this on an installed faucet? Thanks.
We have hard water in AZ. Even with a water softener system my Moen aerators were locked in with calcium. The tool broke off all the lugs on the aerators, leaving nothing for the tool engage. I had to replace the entire spout.
What if your aerator broke off and part is still in faucet
I love how you say the tool comes with the faucet, but hate how whoever installed it didn't keep the tool, or throw it in vanity drawer.
That was great man
What if you have a broken faucet due to tough tightness in the tap? How you can replace please?
Regards
Thanks! This is the answer I've been looking for!!
Thank you. This was a complete eye opener.
When the edges of the aerator are cut out like that, it's pretty straightforward finding the right tool. Simplistic really. It does make one LOOK LIKE a lifesaver... And, not all recessed aerators are that accessible, as I'm finding out. So, what is the expertise or tool needed to change out a pf aerator with a round, single surface edge? I am trying to hook up a waterpik-type dental accessory, and have all the needed parts, but have never met the recessed aerator before...
Let me know the diameter of your aerator, dime, nickel, quarter etc.... some of them make an extended adapter for devices like that
Thank you for the video. I have a Delta like the last one shown here. I have one question I want to purchase a washing machine which comes with an adaptor that does not hook up to this, how can I solve this issue is there another type of aerator that I can purchase to use?
I have a garden tub that was installed in 1990. The faucet leaks and there is no access panel without renoving the marble sides and cutting it open. So the faucet can't be replaced without demo to the tub. So I thought I would attach a handheld shower head with an on off button to contain the leak. There is a white plastic ring around the inside opening(no screen) so the thread is not visible to screw the handheld shower attachment in to place. What tool would I use to remove that plastic ring? Do you possibly have any other suggestions on how I could stop the leak without changing the faucet?
After I removed the aerator, there is another plastic insert inside the facet that I couldn’t remove. I need to remove that insert to install a faucet extension. Can you help me, or point me into the right direction? Thank you.
Thanks for the video, It put me on my way to the fix.
Just what I needed. (Now if only I can find a quarter or dime.)
The plastic part of the aerator that screwed into the faucet fell apart including the screen while I was using the special key to get it out. But the white plastic aerator itself is stuck in the faucet. It rumbles around when you put the water on. Any ideas on how to get it out?
Yes..good question. These are the kinds of questions they should be answering instead of brand new stuff.
You make it look easy, but .... most of the time the faucet is installed and it is VERY hard to fit the tool onto the aerator. Any suggestions.
It really shouldn't be that hard if you have the correct size tool. It should easily slide into the notches of the aerator.. there's not really a "trick" to it
If I tried to take it off with a wrench, did I break it?
Key wouldn't budge the aerator and kept slipping with force and stripped the tool. Tried tapping out aerator with screw driver but now broke the inner plastic ring that the tool's teeth go inside...now trying to grab it and turn with needlenose pliers. What a pain in the ass...hope to work it out somehow eventually, otherwise gonna need to replace whole faucet. Ridiculous.
I have a moen kitchen Faust 87162SRS it has 4 slots in the aerator in the Faust it’s the size of a nickel Been trying to find a removal tool Hoping you have one Thanks
Mine popped out on its own I threw away the yellow key fits but I can't get the yellow size aerator in.....help
The one on my faucet is very tight and hard to turn. Any tips?
This is so useful! Thanks man
Can we install an extension to moen bathroom faucet adler?
I have the first one that doesn’t need a tool but it just won’t spin
Nice demonstration 👍
What’s the name of the tool you used to remove the recessed aeretor? Please. Thanks again.
Thank you. The tools are linked in the description. Use a coin to measure diameter. We are running low on stock but we have a few left
Is it possible to attach a swivel faucet aerator to my recessed aerator tap, perhaps with a connector? If so, any recommendations? I cannot find any suitable
Yes it's possible, let us know which diameter aerator you have to see if we have an adapter
My recessed faucet aerator screen is a dime size. Does anyone know what size replacement that translates too I need to buy?
plumbingpartspro.com/products/neoperl-recessed-tom-thumb-cache-aerator
Would you be able to install an extended aerator on a faucet like this? I have a 4 year old that can’t reach to wash her hands?
@@PlumbingPartsPro kinda yeah! I have a moen 6801 with these stupid recessed aerators and the things you add on for toddlers to direct the water have nothing to stop them from just sliding off. I’d be just as happy with an extended aerator just so the whale doesn’t just slide off as well.
@@williamsmallwood8846 do you know the size you have? Dime nickel penny quarter?
How do I hook up my counter top water filter? I just replaced our faucet and the aerator is this new kind, scratching my head over here..🧐
Its definitely harder. What size do you have? I do stock an extender depending on the size. Measure with a coin dime nickel quarter etc....
I was replacing areator in my bathrooms. The first one came out easy but the second one wouldn" t come loose and eventually it came out but it look like a brass pipe broke loose from the part attach to aeator , Do I just replace the faucet.
Thanks a lot this was really helpful
I removed it, but the debris is inside the White filter.
How do I remove the white filter screen?
The debris is behind the white screen.
I stripped the notches while using the tool. I can’t get it out. How do I remove it without breaking the whole faucet ?
Make sure you are turning the correct direction. It's backward because it's inverted. I've found alot off people turn it the wrong way
I have a recessed screen which has fallen out and wont stay in. There is no thread on the outside so it doesn't screw in or out. What is supposed to hold it in? Thanks
It sounds like the threads have worn off? Or else it's a rectangle style with set screw. Send us a pic
I need the tool for
gooseneck kitchen faucet
What size is the quarter aerator? I need to replace it and I don’t have a key just want to buy the right one
It's called Standard usually Grey colored. We sell a lot that has all 4 sizes on our website
Do you have a aerator and tool that will fit my P99137LF-BN Peerless faucet? I am going crazy looking for the dang replacement part and tool
I attempting to remove my aerator using the tool when the some of the teeth on the aerator broke off. Any suggestion/ideas on how to remove the aerator now?
That may be difficult. Maybe a and tap it gently counterclockwise? Maybe a dremel and cut some grooves in plastic. I really don't have any tricks other than the tool
I , too, am using the tool that came with the faucet and on the verge of stripping the teeth because it won't budge. I don't have hard water so I don't know why it's so stuck. Did you find a solution? Thx
where do i get that tool that you used in video to remove areator?
If you want to attach a water filter with a diverter to the faucet. You need to remove the hidden aerator all together, correct? Then you twist in the new diverter with the right size adaptor on it?
Alot of faucets with the recessed aerator will not accommodate a screw on filter due to the recess. Most filters come with an assortment of adapters to fit the faucet however some are not long enough.
Thanks for sharing
How do you get a double threaded aerator out of a plastic hose? Lol
You charge for shipping and how long will it take?...I am planning on picking up one..thanks
Yes there is a minimal shipping usually less than $5 depending the shipping destination. You should be able to go to the website through the links in the description. We typically ship same day
Hi, looking for adapter for a tiny thump kitchen faucet for portable dishwasher farberware. Thank you
Helpful! Thanks
Thank you so much!
a great resource, thanks!
Thank you man😅
I got a question, you have the key to remove it, but the airator wont budge when you are twisting the key...now what ?
I, too, have the included plastic tool and it won't budge. Did you find a solution to loosening yours? Thx
What if you dont have a faucet tool is there another way to take it off??
Its very difficult to remove it without the tool. Some faucets are making a screwdriver slot in them however most need the tool. I have them on the website at a cheap cost
are there neoperl adapters for counter top water filters?
Yes we stock a few. Do you know the size you need? Emily us info@plumbingpartspro.com
There is a damn tool for everything lol😂
Great info.thanks!
Do they all screw out? Mines a Kohler and it blew it apart after the water company did some main line work in my neighborhood. Is it pretty much just these three sizes or are they manufacturer specific? I don’t really care how much I restrict it down but it’s just super high compared to what it was. I know the one I had looked like two layers of the metal screen blew out while the white plastic portion is still in there.
How do you change the rectangle aerator? Moen brand
I believe that one has an allen key set screw on the under back side of the spout and it comes out.
Thanks for the help !
You dont say how to clean the aerator after you remove it.
Most of them aren't cleanable. You can try but they will never be "like new" clean. With the micron size particles in the water most have to be replaced.
👍 great 👍
thank you so much man!
anyone found a solution for a broken inner aerator?
On the other hand what was wrong with the old external one for god sake 😃
I was using the tool and the aerator broke and screen fell out but now I can remove the inner part. any suggestions?
I have a Moen faucet with a recessed aerator that is literally impossible to remove. I have a tool like yours but it will not budge full stop. I feel like something will break and my fingers get sore lol
The water pressure is low so I'm trying to determine the cause but can't remove the aerator to check it.
I have same issue… soak in CLR or vinegar. I put cellophane then make a pocket. I put CLR in and sink the aerator in the liquid. Then I use and elastic to secure it so the aerator is soaking in the CLR.
Whomever put this in was Hercules I guess. I stripped my first key. Really pissed me off. - when you are looking at them it is standard left to loosen right to tighten. When you look from the top down it’s the opposite.
now leaking in the cabinet
what if u dont have that tool, far out
haha I had one and had no idea what that key was for
I have a rectangular aerator. Any idea how to get those off? It's made by jacuzzi but haven't come across any info how to remove it.
I have not seen a rectangular aerator, however I have seen rectangular shaped spouts, however most of those have a round recessed aerator. If you could take a picture of the underside of the spout and send it to info@plumbingpartspro.com I can help you.
i apologize for the delay getting back with you, The aerator as removed with an allen wrech key from the inside of the spout. However I do not have the replacement screen , you may be able to remove and rinse with water.
Where can I buy the remove tool?
you can purchase here. plumbingpartspro.com/collections/faucet-aerators/products/neoperl-cache-4-piece-aerator-key-set
Money making business, that tool should have came with all items necessary for that faucet to work,, especially when purchasing faucet,,, now you must buy item 🤯.
Title here is a little misleading. I can get the thing out but can't get it back on. About halfway and the little blue o-ring is pulled out sticking out the side. After an hour, I'm sorry I took it out. If I have to call a plumber, it will be to install a new non-Moen faucet with an "old time" aerator! And I have four bathrooms with these awful faucets!
Four your activiter
Idiot delta faucets with those 'need a special tool' to remove the aerator. What a shame they don't have a regular aerator that screws on by hand. Your video is just a tad deceptive, as removing that idiotic aerator with the special tool when the faucet is INSTALLED is pretty tricky, particularly if your hands are not as steady as a rock. Built in obsolescence. I'm sure there are unscrupulous plumbers who tell homeowners that the reason their faucet is not running well is because it needs replaced. Sigh...
Hello and thank you for commenting. I wouldn't consider the video deceptive just because it wasn't an "Installed" faucet, it's tye same principle in removing it. Most newer faucets, not just Delta, have these now because it gives the faucet a cleaner, more streamlined look. They do make different, heavier duty removal tools that help remove more difficult aerators however they are a considerable amount more in cost than the ones we stock.
Where is the how to?👎 Click-bait?
You apparently didn't watch the video. At minute 2:35 it shows how. Your comments are inaccurate
Not much value to this. Why do these people always show on brand new faucets and connections. Why not make videos in the real world??? (Calcified connections which are hard to unscrew?)
Words cannot express how delighted I was to find this video! I didn’t even need to finish it; just got to the spot where it explained the key!!!
Thank you!
