hi charlie. i came up with an idea of fitting all those components into an old gutted computer tower fitted with wheels and with enough cabling to allow it to be pulled out from under the baseboard should any modification or repairs be needed doing
What a brilliant idea. And, you could use the fan to provide additional cooling. Regards Charlie
You could also build a drawer and mount the components in there. In either case, be certain to spend the time on cable management - a bunble now saves a rats nest later. Also secure that bbundle on both ends with zip/cable ties, velcro, something to take strain off connectors.
My Audio Rack/PC is connected to my desk/keyboard/monitor/etc. in this manner. Leave extra length. Good luck.
An idea for the span of cables then from the layout to the case or Charlie’s draw is to use something called Copex. It’s a flexible conduit that has glands on either end and dose a good job of protecting the wires
@@scottmarsden1643 yes there are 3 types , all steel or steel coated with plastic or all plastic, i would go for the steel plastic coating because it does not split with time with diameters of 20mm ( 3/4") or 25mm (1")
@@ChadwickModelRailway hi charlie actually i was thinking of putting 2 fans in one on either side of the divided tower.
There is of course a big advantage to being a ‘butterfly’ modeller - we get a brilliantly unpredictable series of fascinating videos from you, Charlie!
That’s very kind of you to say so David.
"Let's put a line in the sand, no more" [butterfly modelling] followed shortly thereafter by "this is now on hold and we move on to a different project". All with a straight face!
Yes but I didn’t advance the non track projects. Regards Charlie
Visits to other layouts are always appreciated.
Thanks Gary, I have one in mind already.
Great job.
There is a book called, Eat that frog. It basically says, if you have to eat some frogs, pick the biggest and ugliness one to eat first. In the modelling world, make a list of tasks, do the worst one first, like you just did, after that, its a lot easier and more fun.
Excellent comment Simon and one hopefully I shall remember. Regards Charlie
Such a relief to finally know my affliction - I'm a butterfly modeller! I feel so much better now that I know I'm not alone 🙂
🦋 should be banned! Regards Charlie.
The level of complexity for your wiring astounds me. I don't think I could contemplate finishing a project that big, a single line around the garden is proving complex enough for me.
Come on CMJ, it’s just a couple of wires!
Hi Charlie, 10 out of 10! I am a total devotee of, work smarter not harder. Working upside down on a layout has big knobs on it! This is where a Modular Baseboard has the game by the shorts. Your roll out concept is a winner.
Thanks Peter, I’m so pleased that you enjoyed it
Yep..gotta agree butterfly person here. Your comment about losing your mojo...again happens reguarly till i watch you. Then, get enthused again!
Thanks Charlie.
What a heartwarming comment mate.
I agree with almost every other commenter - we're all guilty of butterfly modelling. However, as you are also a "UA-camr" (or You potato!), I think you have to be more prone to it or you may lose your audience by the 26th week of track laying with not a wall built or a tree planted. I think you've got the balance just about right to keep us all tuning in (so to speak).
You are of course right Davie. I need to put more effort into tracklaying off-camera, and catch up with the layouts progress. Regards Charlie
@@ChadwickModelRailway It's all good Charlie and winter is definitely a good time to get stuff done. I don't film anyhting and I struggle enough! Cheers.
@@ChadwickModelRailway Some other channels, fast forward parts which they have created between videos, then showing the final result.
I’m not a fan of that technique, as one misses so much explanation in the actual building process.
I think you have the mix just right.
Hear hear
Somedays......I think I'll forever be at the caterpillar stage! It's always good when you get a niggly job out of the way, though there's usually another waiting in the wings ;-)
Sometimes you just have to face up to these niggling little tasks mate. Regards Charlie
Hi Charlie...... I've always tried to not be a 'butterfly' by sticking to the job in hand but there is always something
that requires attention before the job in hand can progress. It just happens to be in the nature of model railroading,
so hands up those who can say 'I'm no butterfly?
Cheers Charlie and followers.
A truthful admission IDVW.
I definitely wouldn't have thought of the sliding draw. Now that is thinking out of the box...well done Charlie..
Thanks Graham, I’m so pleased that you like the idea.
I think you’re right about us all being “butterfly builders”. All my track is down, but not ballasted. (because it’s tedious) The bus wires are not connected fully and I’m building buildings, platforms, painting scenes etc. Happy days! 🤪🤪
Keep on flitting!
Greetings from Canada 🇨🇦 Charlie. Morning coffee and a new Chadwick video…👍
Thanks for sharing!
I do hope you enjoy it mate, regards Charlie
Re the electronics board. Considering the old pithy Moltke statement, “no plan survives contact with the enemy”, perhaps a modelers version of it would be, "no plan survives contact with imagination".
But this is what I find attractive about the hobby. Nothing is permanent - and the model is the better for it.
Great comment Don, regards Charlie
Hi Charlie. I really enjoy your visits to other layouts so yes please do more. Thanks
I’m so pleased you enjoy these visits, and there is another one in the pipeline. Regards Charlie
I just build model kits but find model railway channels fascinating to watch even when there is a lot of electronic content it is still interesting. Sometimes you get a complex model kit that can go on for ages because there are tons of details to do before you can progress. At times like that a small simple kit is a nice break. Almost the opposite of the butterfly scenario! As someone mentioned for channel content you have an excuse but as a consumer of your output I appreciate the effort you put in and I am always pleased to see a new vid regardless of the subject.
That’s very kind of you to say so Glen. Regards Charlie
Mojo, a very important point. If you are not in the mood, leave it alone! I have made a real pig's ear of some parts of my layout because I was not in the right frame of mind. Sadly, for me, I can't just knuckle down and get on with it. I have to be in the mood. Creating my layout is meant to be a pleasure and if it turns into a chore then I stop. Does the pressure of producing videos take away the pleasure Charlie? I hope not as we all look forward to your posts.
Yes, the YT pressure is enormous even at 1 vid every 2 weeks.
Time management and planning is absolutely essential.
Hi Charlie ,another superb video. Unfortunately for some years following a serious illness I suffer with Peripheral Neuropathy which has started to become extremely painful and growing in its intensity.
I had to give up modelling some years ago but watching vicariously through you and the many other excellent men and women on the Tube , makes model railways fun and interesting again for me and I have no doubt many other like minded people.
The purpose of this long winded comment is not to gain sympathy but to tell you in person what a wonderful job you ,and all the other contributors
What a heartwarming comment Ian and very much appreciated.
Thanks Charlie - you have just solved my power and control location issues which have held me back for nearly a year.
That’s great news David regards Charlie
Couldn't agree more Charlie. Most of us adopt the butterfly modeling method. It just seems to happen.
I imagine that it’s inevitable Peter.
I think my wife would call me a butterfly house remodeller!
My wife is just the same. I know the jobs that need doing and I don’t need reminding every six months to do so.
Losing the mojo happens from time to time. Electronics and trackwork seem to be the main reasons. Keep up the great work Charlie.
Thanks Peter, regards Charlie
I’m definitely guilty of moving onto other projects when I get bored with what I’m currently working on. Thanks for the motivation to get stuck into some outstanding tasks. Brilliant work as always Charlie.
Thanks Chris, regards Charlie
Another fantastic video Charlie I'm in total awe of your layout learning so much from your channel thank you so much Charlie 😎👍
Thank you Mark, for such a heartwarming comment. Regards, Charlie
It is so nice to see that im not the only one how builds something only to take it to pieces a few months later. Its the comments from the trouble and strife like didnt you just build that or you do know thats a good shirt your wearing. Most enjoyable Charlie.
It’s the pressure of married life Peter!
Great video Charlie. Of course if you leave little bits of projects unfinished it does put off the dreaded day when you will have to say “The layouts finished.” 😳
Yes that would be a shocking idea David.
I cringed at how close your fingers were to the drill, Charlie.
I love your videos.
Best wishes
Deep breaths Michael. I didn’t notice!
Procrastination is the enemy of many a good project but it is also human nature. Particularly when you have invested time in something that you now realise is not the 'ideal solution' you thought it was. All power to your elbow Charlie for admitting to flitting around for "flit's" sake...! The biggest upside is that you (should) now have a better view of your planning...
Thanks Tim, very true, regards Charlie.
You are absolutly right, most, maybe all of us are butterfly modelers, Im for sure am.
We need to own our faults CHL.
Same here Charlie , It take's a few days and encourage myself before doing something drastic on my layout . Greetings from the Netherlands.
I think you’re dead right Burt, we will shy away from the more important task.
Guilty as charged! :D I'm a true butterfly modeller. I can't finish anything without being distracted by something new.
Good man, welcome to the club!
Thanks Charlie. Love your videos. I still have my Hornby 3-Rail from childhood in storage - am getting inspiration to get it running again. From Brisbane Australia.
Come on John, rekindle it over Christmas.
Hi Charlie
Another hit. Thanks
Love the idea of visiting other layouts.
Also your analysis of us modellers!
Got me in one.
Stay safe
Howard
I’m so pleased that you enjoyed it Howard.
A benefit of your 'butterfly modelling' is the wide variety of videos we get from you!
Enjoyable as ever Charlie. Thank you
Thanks Lennon, regards Charlie
I do the same thing Charlie flit from one thing to another and I was thinking the other day { no comments please Charlie } I got to change my mindset so I have drawn a line in the sand. But that said I must say that its ok starting something on your layout so long as you have every thing ready at hand to complete the project and on a lot of occasions in my case it doesn't because there a spanner in the works because you though had all the stuff you need if you get what i mean. Great video Charlie thank you.
I know what you mean exactly Tony.
Invariably we start a certain project, then have to stop and await the arrival of the bits we forgot to order in the first place. Regards Charlie
I don't really see it as butterfly. More that there is always more than one thing to do. I've been pulling my hair out trying to get a hinged walk-through section of baseboard to line up nicely. This was getting frustrating, so I had a go at making some card buildings, then while I had my paints out to detail them, started to weather a couple of wagons. For me, working on more than one part of the project at a time prevents the whole thing from stagnating and keeps me interested. Also just been to my first exhibition since before lockdown, which was really enjoyable.
Good point Matt but I was deliberately avoiding an important but arduous task.
So now we have a new club. The Model Railway Modeller Butterfly Club to which I joined today. I have so many unfinished 3D printed models that I am running out of space and yes today I have just started to 3D print a ruined stone cottage and shed. It will take about m13 hours and 15 minutes to print and then it will join the queue for painting etc. Martin. (Thailand)
🦋 should be banned! Regards Charlie.
So, no more butterfly modelling, eh? That little hillside with the tarmac road - temporary asphalt, let's move on to something else. Not two minutes between those two ideas. Don't change, Charlie. We love you flitting about.
It’s a deal Andy.
Some great comments on here Charlie. I quite agree that we all seem to have a bit of butterfly in us. I’m currently two thirds of the way through wiring up all my points and won’t do anything else till that’s finished. However, I do have several things to go back to once I’ve done that which I started a while ago. Love what you did with that trolley. Genius. Roy.
Thanks Roy, I’m so pleased that you found a video interesting. Regards Charlie
Great work Charlie. I like the term "Butterfly Modeller", in my family we talk about "being distracted by shiny objects" when rather than doing what you are supposed to do some other activity gets in the way. And at work there was "spending all day sharpening the pencils" - spending lots of time preparing to do some work but not actually doing anything productive.
Sometimes you have to give yourself a push to buckle down and do the task that you've been trying to ignore.
Of course there is value in mixing up the tasks so that you progress different aspects in parallel and give yourself a break from the usual routine every now and again.
I’m so pleased to hear that I’m the only one who suffers from this terrible distraction. Right, let’s get Track Laying. Regards Charlie
Another cracking video Charlie thank you👍 My butterfly habits drive my poor wife to distraction as she always finishes the current task before starting the next 🤣
Women have some dreadful habits.
Charlie, I always say that videos are inspirational but I think you’ve excelled with this one. Thoroughly enjoyable, electronics with psychology thrown in. Please keep them coming because you certainly help to sustain the mojo of your subscribers. Tony
What a heartwarming comment Tony.
Regards Charlie.
I am that butterfly Charlie… If I could just concentrate on one job and finish it!!! On my third layout now in 4 years and not finished one yet. Enjoyable update and great content as always…Chris
A great admission Chris. As along as we enjoy what we do.
I am also a butterfly modeller which is why railway modelling is such a good hobby for me, because it allows for this behaviour.
🦋 should be banned! Regards Charlie.
I don’t anticipate having little nippers crawling around und any lay out I may have. Sorry couldn’t resist writing the comment. Another enjoyable episode.
Thanks Ken, regards Charlie
I can relate to what a butterfly Modeller does especially with electrics I have always enjoyed your videos.
It’s great to have you on board mate. Regards Charlie
Yes, more layout visits, please. I enjoy seeing the model railway efforts of others. As my father used to say, there is always the danger I might learn something new. Thanks for your efforts and cheers from Wisconsin!
I’m so pleased that you enjoy the channel Andrew.
Glad I'm not the only one! I eventually got around to getting under the boards and finish installing the point motors and making a control board, well worth biting the bullet and getting on with it.
Perhaps 🦋 should be banned! Regards Charlie.
Hi Charlie, excellent update and I completely agree with you about butterfly modelling. I’ve been very good for a whole year, building baseboards, laying track, learning how to solder and do the wiring. But after completing the double track circuit and having trains running I lost my mojo a bit and I have been distracted by building a scratch built warehouse whereas I should have been getting with the return loop and storage on the lower deck. Also having read another comment below I did have in mind my UA-cam views thinking I’d lose loads out of boredom of watching me lay track.
Well I think you’re the tonic I needed, I shall get on with more tracklaying, cheers Charlie, helpful in many ways!, John
Great comment John and good luck mate.
Love the term butterfly modeller and I also likr your new clock on the shelf . Thanks once again for an interesting video
Thanks John, I’m so pleased that you enjoyed it.
Hi Charlie, another cracking video. I do the butterly thing 50% of the time, but it is a good thing. I think its a subconscious thing that there is a better outcome deep in the grey matter. At some point, usually after a few beers there is a lightbulb moment and the project end up brilliant rather than good enough. My friend calls it "Giving it a few coats of looking at".
An excellent outlook. Regards Charlie
Well Charlie another great video, yes you're right about being butterfly modelers, I especially tend to put of things I should have done yesterday, like yourself I have had to rewire my entire layout because of being a little distracted and no forward thinking, but alls good at least for now, many thanks for your inspiration, our summer is here and it's hot, just keep safe and well
I’m so pleased that you found it interesting Jed. Regards Charlie
Charlie, quite simply thank you. I'm forever putting the undesirable tasks off. Thoroughly enjoyed as usual. Looking forward to your next update, Kind regards Nathan.
Thanks Nathan, do the crappy jobs first mate.
Hi Charlie, I'm one of the butterfly modeller. Nice to know I'm not the only one. Good video.
Welcome to the flock Michael, regards Charlie
So true Charlie! Face up to your fears and hit them full on! Well done, super video and superb life lesson! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
What a heartwarming comment mate.
Regards Charlie.
Thanks Charlie...not! You have now forced me to confront the "elephant" in my own railway room! Seriously, this is so true in all sorts of other parts of our lives.
I can guarantee my problems are worse than yours! Regards Charlie
Yes Charlie, I too, am a butterfly modeller. I am in the process of building a new (small) layout and I need to make servo mounts for all my point work. I keep putting it off and doing something else, but soon I will have to knuckle down and make them so I can complete the track laying proper
I know what you mean Bruce, but it’s hard to do all the difficult jobs first. Regards Charlie
Nice video Charlie. I see your point about the "Butterfly Modeller" that's me to a tee! My old Grandad (a Blacksmith) would say about having "Too many Irons in the fire my lad", I never did quite understand what he meant, but I do now! Keep up the good work Charlie. Cheers... Les.
Thanks Les, keep on flitting!
Hello Charlie,
Just wanted to say that I am really enjoying the videos. Thanks, Seán.
Thanks Sean, it’s great to have you onboard
Butterfly modeler? That is a new one on me. At least you are not a "Rubber Gauger." I was talking to the wife of a recently deceased model railroader and she was talking about all the stuff she had found that her husband had squirreled away. She accused him of being a Rubber Gauger. I had to ask her to explain that. Apparently he couldn't model one gauge. He had many railroad model gauges that he had been "bouncing" around, from one to the other, modeling at the same time.
Glad to see you got it back together and running again. I recently changed my track plan for my O-16.5 (1/48th scale) model railroad in mid-build. I had trains running when the wife start talking about "moving" some day. I looked at what I had built and I realized that what I had built would have to be demolished if we did move. That thought did not sit well with me. However, I was at that point where I could start over again. So, I tore it all down. I built a much simpler layout, recycling the wood I had invested and built a better layout that is four modules that are bolted together. Even the 2"x2" hardwood legs are bolted on. It can be unbolted into 4 sections, carried out the door, to be put in a moving truck. I would not claim it is portable as it is not designed to go to shows. I will claim it is moveable. It is still the "elephant" in the room. I also built it taller.
Good video Charlie!
Great comment DKA, and great planning too. Regards Charlie.
Haha, don’t worry Charlie, I think we all reach a point where we think something along the lines of “Why the bloody hell did I start this poxy thing? Why couldn’t I just enjoy needlecraft or watching films?” 😣 I have been seduced by the Dark Side of Distraction on numerous occasions so I do know how easy it is to lose yourself in a distraction! 😜
The movable trolley thing is an excellent idea. It keeps everything together but at the same time provides a practical solution to keep the system stored out of sight but easily accessible 👍 And a good idea to ‘future-proof’ the project by leaving space for extra components that might spring from new ideas🤔
As for the layiut amendments: I’d say that often “less is more” so by simplifying the track you can actually make it work better 😉
Great to see another video Charlie. Good on you for tackling the bit you weren’t looking forward to and it’s good to know you are going to tackle the next bit of the fiddle yard in due course 😎
All the best, look forward to the next update 👍🍀🍻
What a heartwarming comment Tim that’s very much appreciated.
Another entertaining video Charlie. You talk about butterfly modeling and go on to make a butterfly video, flitting from one subject to another. As a craftsman I was taught to do everything in a logical, methodical order. You do seem to go from track to landscape, wiring to maintenance and because of the way you work, we are still yet to see any trains running. Maybe thats what makes your video`s so fascinating and informative?
An excellent observation Andrew, regards Charlie
I like the analogy of 'butterfly modelling' & recognise this as a characteristic or habit I have generally, but I'm afraid I'm still at the planning stage with much renovation in the house before I even start my loft railway modelling, so I'm firmly at the caterpillar stage and looking forward to the opportunity to flit between projects and individual aspects of a layout. As always, a good way to spend 20 odd minutes of a Friday. I always come away more relaxed than I arrived and that in itself is a reason to visit. Thanks.
What a heartwarming comment LTP and good luck with your project.
Hey there Charlie
I just wanted to say hello,,and thank you for your amazing videos.Im a car enthusiast,i restore 1/1 cars on my channel, and also work on cars for a living.I am also deeply into the RC world...So..Lately i have been going down the rabbithole of model railways,,,as ive always been a massive "train" fan.My grandfather worked at the railroad just after the war..and i reckon ive got some "train interest" from him.Eitherway....i have really been watching alot of videos regarding model railroad..and your channel is one of my favourites..and they really inspire to go ahead and getting into the hobby here aswell. And when i do, i really want to make a Norwegian themed railroad, as i do have a massive softspot for the NOHAB Di3 locos,so at least i have some plans ready :)Sorry for a long " story and rant"..but i just had to tell you my background,,so that my "words" regarding your channel, would have some more weight to them :) So ..Again,.thank you for amazing videos,,and now..let me keep on watching this latest vid :) I hope you are doing well. Greetings from Norway,Stefan :)

Nice one Charlie.... spot on at the end about losing your "mojo". Thanks for another excellent video. cheers Nick

However what a great result

Evening Charlie. You do make work for yourself but it makes fantastic viewing 👍🏻 It's a fantastic improvement and I'm sure it'll be a real mojo starter now 😀 Cheers Stevie.
Thanks Stevie, your support is most welcome.
Charlie, as you obviously adjust your plan while installing it, butterflying seems to be your forte to help you find your appropriate solution. Planning of course is a good thing, don’t wanna discount that, however, it’s also good to account for our ‘weaknesses’ to either find a new strong point, or to acknowledge that indeed going back and forth may be a self-teaching method. Also, trial and error can’t be avoided, even with planning and more thorough planning. Especially when we’re one man railroad ‘tycoons’. The charm also can be found in the display of our adjustments/mistakes/tweaks. Plus, over time we increase our skills, whatever we do, which often means the first method will be surpassed by second, which in term will be surpassed by third one and consecutive ones.
Otherwise said, distraction isn’t just avoidance, it’s also a tool to amp ourselves up, to regain confidence and to become inspired, anew or once more.
What a brilliant comment Vincent, it’s great to have you onboard.
that was lovely. freud would have been with you all the way.
Thanks Kevin, you’re too kind mate.
Thanks for sharing. I know what you mean jumping from one job too another. I do that the same because I am waiting for glue or paint drying but I get them finished in time.
Excellent point Ian, regards Charlie
Hi Charlie, most importantly is doing what you enjoy and are comfortable with at the time and recognising that can change too! The electronics trolley is a great idea (easier than a draw) and see it works for you. I always fit either Hollingsworth crimps or boot lace crimps to my wire ends, it only takes a stray strand on a stripped wire end being in the wrong place to cause problems if you can't see the connection clearly. Pushing a finished crimped pin in is easy to check its in OK. For cable protection look up spira band cable protection (benefit is can be retrofitted) or megamide sleeving (have to thread cables into as you wire). Yes am with you on sometimes losing your mojo (yep got the tee shirt too), there are times when having a break and coming back fresh to something you are better for it in many ways. Cheers Stephen
A great comment Stephen. Regards Charlie
Charlie , what about a new segment called "Ask Charlie"? I'm sure your counsel and in sight would be a great feature for those with questions. Always enjoy your video.
Now there’s an interesting point, I will certainly consider it.
Im glad you are a "butterfly 🦋 modeller" endless videos on track laying and wiring over the last year would have been rather tedious. Movi g from one project area to another keeps it fresh.
Nice project update video

Just a FYI. Meanwell make a plastic cover strip for their power supplies. TBC-07 is the part for the power supply you linked to. There are more in the range to suit other units - the last two digits denote the number of terminals that it covers.
Thanks Craig but disappointing that they are sold separately.
Hi Charlie, very interesting video, I'm more of a butterfly modeller myself and I tend to pick a corner for the day and stick to it. Susannah
A good idea Susannah. Regards Charlie.
Butterflies rule the world !
I think we all suffer from this issue, but it does relieve the boredom. Regards Charlie
Charlie - your a real tonic ! One thing - invest in a kneeling pad ( get them in garden centres). It will save your old knees plus it's great to be able scoot around the floor without having to get up and down if you are working on the low level in different parts of the room. Always a joy to watch your video's 👍 cheers Euan
An excellent point Euan. Surprisingly, I already have some I just need to track them down. Regards Charlie

Great update Charlie! I have a confession to make; I am a complete butterfly! Not a single piece of my layout is complete, if I don’t have the time, finances or products are unavailable I move onto something else. In a perfect world I would do everything step by step but the world is definitely not perfect. Keep up the good work, all the best.

Hi Charlie. Love seeing your wiring. It's incredibly neat and well done. An absolute inspiration to watch.

Yep every once a while we need to recharge our batteries to tackle something like that again.
Never a truer word mate.
Hi Charlie. Intresting update. I think we are all guilty of Butterfly modelling I do it from time to time myself I guess it is one of those things that happns when building a railway. Look forward to the next one. - Nicholas.
I’m so pleased that you can relate to my dilemma mate.
I'm quite happy to be labelled as slap dash, chaotic, creative, disorganised or unfocused, as long as I can keep trains running on my layout (at least some of it!), for days I want to "play trains" I love your approach it's to me more fun although there is the risk of never finishing anything, but I'm quite happy to run that risk. I applaud those who have the determination to proceed in an orderly manner, like a fellow commentator on here I think your channel really does benefit from your approach, thank for the quality entertainment your channel provides.

I was /am the same. But I decided I need to complete at least my main track work so I can run trains. And finish off the sidings etc later on .. but getting a full running circuit is now my priority thanks for another great video

@@ChadwickModelRailway u can start a new movement
Hi Charlie, another really enjoyable video and it's nice to see you own up to mistakes you make as we all do them and hopefully we can learn from yours. I see myself as a butterfly modeller although never looked inward at myself in that way before. It will be really nice when all of the trackwork has been completed.
I’m pleased that you enjoyed it Simon, and yes it does pay dividends to occasionally look at ourselves! Regards Charlie
Hi Charlie brilliant video I’m the same as you were stuck in a rut and tomorrow I’ve decided to just get on with a few things on my own railway thank you for the kick up the arse 😆 all the best
Go get ‘em Craig
I like the little bridge you've put in on the freightliner depot incline, its a really nice touch
Thanks Tez, I’m so pleased that you like it
I thought I was the master of avoidance techniques! As for your woodworking skills, always remember that form follows function. Another great video as always.
I’m so pleased that you enjoyed it Rich, despite my woodworking wobbles! Regards Charlie
I’m so pleased that you enjoyed it Rick, despite my woodworking wobbles! Regards Charlie
Yes Chas I'd like to see other layouts please , another great vid from yourself keep up the good work .
I might just have another layout in my back pocket John. Regards Charlie
Charlie,
Thank you again for a great video.
The old 80:20 rule has another side to it. It only takes 20% of the time to get 80% done. The devil is in the detail of getting the last 20% done.
It might not be butterfly, it might be: "What have I bitten off?.
However, it is oftern good to take that break, and truely think through the process to get the last 20% done. I often "sleep on the problem", and get a much nicer solution that what I had first thought up.
Keep us inspired, and mojo flowing.
Cheers, and keep safe. Michael
What a heartwarming comment Michael.
Regards Charlie.
Great update Charlie.. and something we're probably all familiar with!
Too true jonty
Butterflies are beautiful creatures! And despite their somewhat chaotic flight they reach their goal in life.
I personally like building modules, laying track, understanding dcc issues and technically renovating modules (Fremo standards) so they become more reliable. Fortunately people around me like doing scenery.
Apart from that, a friend of me calls me a beginner: nearly always starting a new project before the current one is (sometimes far from) finished. :-)
So Charlie, nothing to worry about as far as I see it. ;-)
Regards,
Jelle

Thanks Charlie, another very interesting session. I am still learning from your videos. Thank you.
I’m so pleased that you find the channel interesting mate.
You're a trooper Charlie! This project just gets bigger and more ambitious every video 😅 A layout we can all dream to emulate 👍
Stay with me Edward, it’s gonna be a rough ride.
Thanks for this update Charlie!!! Cheers Onno.
You’re most welcome Onno.
