The Heythrop and its members / supporters make me sick. I think they should be made to suffer the same fate as the poor foxes they are decimating our countryside of. I've lived in the countryside all my life and was brought up on a farm, horse riding from a tot but also had a healthy respect for nature. We never lost livestock to foxes but they certainly kept the rat & mouse population down in the barns. Unfortunately, too much fox hunting still goes on :(

Monitors do not interfere with their so called trail hunting. They simply film hunts from public rights of way. If hunts were really 'trail' hunting then why would they make such a fuss when people record them? Actually, vixens lactating are supposed to produce no scent. It's a useful survival mechanism. Hounds, therefore (supposedly) cannot hunt a lactating vixen. Cubs dying because their mother is killed also happens with shooting etc. It happens all the time in the wild, parents are often killed and for a variety of reasons.

Well-connected people who can afford horses hunt because they enjoy it. Anyone else can eff off. Until recently (north Cotswolds in particular - where I grew up) anyone who wanted to buy farm land would be approached by the local hunt and asked for permission to ride over the fields in question if the sale went ahead. If the answer was in the negative, the hunt would make sure that the prospective buyer was outbid at auction. That has to be social control. (No. I'm not giving any names out.)
Why doesn,t the person buying the land say yes on someone's behalf and when the real owner turns up he should he had no authority to give you permission to let the hunt cross this land!

I 100% support hunting, an I am not racist in any way (I despise racism in any form). But a lot of older people who live in the countryside are racist, not out of nastiness but ignorance. We can send the hounds flying in the opposite direction to Charlie with ease. "Leave it!!" I've sabbed more hunts than you've had hot dinners, and usually we can wreck a day's illegal hunting, so they rarely get near Charlie. Expert sabs can really stuff a hunt up.

Short life of a few months? A short life is the fate of many cubs and wild animals as a whole. Hunting is just one small risk. 425,000 cubs are born per year. About 200,000 don't make it. People from all social backgrounds hunt, one does not have to be connected. It is understandable that they would want someone who allows them to hunt on their land to get the farm. Short life of a few months? A short life is the fate of many cubs and wild animals as a whole. Hunting is just one small risk. 425,000 cubs are born per year. About 200,000 don't make it. Life in the wild is short, and hard. I'm not using this to justify hunting-I'm just saying that the cub you describe had a high chance of living just a few months anyway. It's nature.

It is understandable that they would want someone who allows them to hunt on their land to get the farm. But that is not hunting as a method of control, but influencing things so that those who own the land are more likely to allow them to hunt. The hunting is the ends, not the means.
