    I don't want a "gaming chair" but they are also one of the only desk/office chairs that still have non mesh backs. I've been using a falling apart chair for years cause I can't find a good chair without a mesh back and bottom (and solid arm rests). If I can't find one soon I might have to get a gaming chair that I don't like just because it's the only option

    I’m sitting on a kitchen chair that’s about 30-35 years old. While visiting a friend I tested his Aeron and it felt absolutely heavenly, like I was floating.
    Good chairs are worth the price.
    Can anyone explain the difference between the Rythm and the Sync fabric for the Embody?

    So what chair would you say provides the best back support while sitting upright? I want a chair that keeps me sitting upright at a 90° angle and doesn't lean back even a little, unless I release the tension obviously. Sick of these chairs that don't even touch my back if I'm sitting upright.

    What’s the point of having a recline feature without a high back/headrest? I like to recline every so often when I’m at my desk, and doing so in a chair without a high back or headrest just doesn’t feel right. Some of these ergonomic chairs need to add this if they’re going to add a reclining feature

    • @leyrua
      @leyrua 3 місяці тому +1

      Agreed. I have found several chairs that would almost be perfect if they didn't kill my neck due to a lack of neck support.
      Even the Herman Miller I use at work only has the neck support as an add-on feature, and while it is good for work, it's not something I would want to recline on for extended periods of time, such as to watch a movie. It's just a little too short for that.

    I have had my Secret Labs Titan for 4 years and it still looks and feels new. I also bought my Wife and Brother Secret Labs chairs because I was so impressed with their build quality and and quality of materials used. Steel construction, M5 stainless steel fine thread hardware and firm chair padding. I had owned 4 or 5 other brand chairs over the course of 10 years as a result of failure in the building materials or the gas cylinder dying. This Titan (rated for over 300lbs) hasn't failed anywhere in 4 years. 2 important things I would point out is they are firm like a Car seat. So if you are looking for a cushy padded chair this is not for you. The 2nd is they offer their chairs in a Fabric material, anyone that has owned a PU leather chair knows what a nightmare it is when it starts peeling not to mention how bad it looks. With Secret Labs chairs they offer the option to get it in Fabric which honestly was a big sales feature for me. With all of this said, they are not cheap, I paid $600 Canadian for this chair but if it is in your budget you will be getting something that will last a long time.

    • @btodtv
      @btodtv  5 місяців тому +4

      If you want something that is going to offer longevity, then don't get a racing chair. The Titan is the most well-built racer, but there are plenty of points of potential failure, which is probably why they only offer a 3-5-year warranty.
      Same with the car seat comparison. I think you are way off base here. My car seat is very comfortable, and it is soft in the seat and back. It has an open backrest design and doesn't feel like it is restrictive. Secret Lab chairs are hard. There is no other way to describe it. And the backrest frame is very restrictive compared to my car seat. The Secret Lab chairs look like car seats but they do not feel close to any car seat I have ever used. -Ryan

    Hello guys, I'm a gamer, and I've sat in 2 different gaming chairs since 2018 1 cheap 1 expensive, and the first one also used as a reference in the video was a gt racing chair, same color too! I used it for 2 years until it broke, it was relatively comfortable just a bit too stiff. it got to a point where I was just sitting on the frame then the whole left side came apart and I could tell it was made out of some cheap metal, and It was about 150$ to 200$. I would only recommend cheap gaming chairs to people who aren't going to sit in them long but the thing is your paying for comfort so you might as well get something good right? That goes to my next purchase a red 2020 mesh/puleather dxracer chair I still have it right now and have used it for 4 years and it's finally giving out after a long hard battle with my rear end! The mechanism that leans back on the right side starting giving out which isn't even really the chairs fault because I've been rough with her lately but I can easily replace the mechanism for 30 dollars on Amazon which I might do, but there's a couple ware and tear type issues that were bound to happen like scuffs on the leather where it show sued leather underneath. And because of my man spreading I've practically worn down the fluff on the side of the chair, but overall the chair is still booty worthy! I was contemplating buying a new chair which is why I'm here, but I'm going to ride or die with this chair till she gives out and also I love the mesh part of the chair it keeps you cool all day. I spent 350 bucks on that chair and do not regret it! One last thing to note is the chair I currently have is no longer available for purchase. It might have something to do with changing their style to fit competitors like secret labs, like if you look at dx racers drifting series chairs you'll see what I'm talking about. anyways happy sitting you guys!

    6:47 I'll repeat the comment I made on a similar video of you:
    A bucket seat design does not even make sense for a racing sim setup.
    This as the only major force you need to stop is the straight on braking and the turning of the force feedback wheel.
    The latter does not push you to the side much either, except in extreme cases of powerful wheelbases set at a high setting.
    Except when going all the way with a full five point harness, motion and/or such overpowered wheelbases, an office or normal ergonomic chair makes more sense.
    And in such extreme cases, you need a specialised sim racing seat, not a gaming chair which fakes the features you would actually need poorly.
    Currently my racing sim setup is just my desk with a wheelbase bolted to it and a block behind the rolling base to allow for braking.
    Which works fine with the lighter pedals and base I have, even the turning chair base is not a problem, but if I upgrade it I will need some custom build thing.
    Even then, I will simply bolt an old second-hand office chair to a self-made wooden frame, for the greater comfort, since I do not need the overly restrictive bolstering.
    Sim racing is a hobby for me, I do not care for scraping out the best times, I just enjoy slowly improving my control and awareness for the sake of it.
    If I ever do get a track car, only then will I accept such ergonomic compromises, in the usecase where they actually make sense and prevent much worse.

    Selecting a chair based on reviews is simply not the reality of getting chair comfort. Typically, opinions are dependent on individuals weight/height and more of an subjective opinion for personal comfort. I would argue that features is also fundamental for personal comfort. Mentioned in the video, but NOT available with the selected chairs is the flat back recline option. Due to the location of the connecting base to the chair. They could have modified the connection enabling more features with stronger support for little cost. At any rate they look good and likely better than most "gamming chairs"...mind you that's not hard to beat.

  • @JB-ol3xo
    @JB-ol3xo 3 місяці тому

    Kind of confused with this. Why would you want a chair to move while you're sitting in it? If I'm in a chair, weather leaning forward or back, I want the chair to be cushy, but, I don't want the actual frame of the thing to flex around. Maybe I'm just looking at this the wrong way, but whenever I'm just about to pull the trigger on one of the highly recommended office chairs I get completely turned off by how tiny and not padded they look. I must have had a Herman Miller Embody in my shooping cart a dozen times, but I'm turned off by the fact that I could not imagine leaning way back and curling up to read in so tiny a chair. I've read the argument about how they're "comfortable like a hammock", but I don't sleep in a hammock, I sleep on a mattress because its both firm and well padded. Do I think a "gaming" chair will be more comfortable, no, probably not, but I see these very small, slim, not padded office chairs suggested as most comfortable and I just cannot see it at all.

    This guy clearly doesn't understand how real people use chairs. The positions shown at 2:24 are what real gamers do. The movement he uses to test every chair (shown at 2:37) is not a movement I've ever done while using a chair for any purpose.
    If I need to stretch, I'll stand up for 2 seconds (gasp!) and then sit back down. Spending $1000 to avoid that, in favor of unnatural stretches while sitting down, is just dumb

    • @StardustLegacyFighter

      That's because those are movements office workers do with chairs that are literally designed to be loose and flexible.
      Garming chair habits are dumb and terrible for your back, and brands like Secretcrap promoting that behaviour is the problem.
      Gaming chairs shaped like racing seats makes no sense, because you're literally stationary at a desk, and are therefore at no risk of falling out.
      How often do gamers actually get up from their chairs and stretch their backs like you claim to do?

    You forgot to mention the most important fact, and that's that most of these "gaming" chairs are made in China and you can get them from the likes of AliExpress or AliBaba for the price as low as 40$ a piece. Then all you need to do is slap your brand sticker or ask them to engrave it, and you are good to go. Charge anywhere from 100$ to 500$ and you are golden. And don't forget to add "gaming" flash to your adds campaign. That's a free "start your own business" right there.

    Gaming chairs are made for looks, comfort is impossible when they all use metal plates you sit on through the very thin foam cushion. I notice videos like this ALWAYS look at lumbar support as the only real importance, but never take into consideration the actual seat. Mainly because the reviewers are all 150lbs and while not a comfortable truth, there are a lot of people who are more like 250lbs. Chair reviews by people who don't take into consideration all weight types are irrelevant IMO - no offense.

    Gamer chairs are designed to gouge money out of gamers by appealing to their lizard brains.
    Office chairs are designed for people to be able to sit in them all day and year long without wanting to jump out of their office window.
    Buy an office chair, something that actually allows air to reach your back and is built ergonomically.

    I bought 2 months ago my first ergonomic chair, and its not for me. I sold it yesterday and ordered again gaming chair.
    It better suits my needs.
    Ergonomic chairs force you to sit in right position which i never do. I like sometimes to put my feet on the chair,cant do that on mesh chair. In 2 months mesh got litle scufed from my jeans,belt and other hard clothes. I use my pc 99% for gaming,mostly almost lying in chair with controler in hands and legs up, which i couldnt do i ergonomic chair.
    Fixed hedrest was not good if i lay down.
    Ergonomic office chairs are only good for people that sit in right position, doing office work or play games in front of pc with mouse and keyboard.

      I mean, it seems like a you problem tbh.
      Not sitting properly on a chair is something that's going to harm you in the long term, and these gaming chairs promote poor seating habits all too well.
