Mina got the nickname penguin because she waddles when she walks. It’s due to her many years of ballet. It’s the cutest thing ever. There are a lot of clips on UA-cam that show this. Mina can control her walk if she wants to but fans love her waddle. The talent and personality of Twice members is unmatched. They truly represent all that is good in the world. Also the love they have for each other is so endearing and unique in K-pop. They’re family in the best way possible.
@@someguy1363 you’re correct! It’s the walk!!! While the guide is fine it did miss out on a lot of things and was not truly helpful for a new fan. It would’ve been a good watch after watching TWICE’s other content beforehand so you could see the correlation. While a little dated, I’ve always maintained the stance that new fans should watch the guide by Cody and Wyatt (Gaypop) as it’s the one that hypes you up about how they were created and their impact on K-pop. Then I would tell them to watch all the content they could from the early years til present so the newer guides would make more sense. Same goes for TTT. It’s best to start from the beginning so you can see the progression of the series and the members. It’s nice to talk with someone that’s in the know. Thanks for your comment!

When Nayeon was crying on the phone with Sana, Sana had tested positive for covid in Japan, and because she isn't a Korean citizen and pcr tests can give positives for a long time, months in some cases, there was uncertainty about when she would be able to come back to Korea.
Chaeyoung is really an i don't care type of person and we love her for it. She had gone against mainstream a lot of times like getting tattoos (it's taboo in SK so she had to cover that up for most of the time since 2019 but at least now, they're letting her tattoos breath more) and also when she chopped off her hair in knock knock era without telling the company. She's so genuine and natural, and I really like her for that!

@@kimsstan if I'm gonna be honest, I didn't know the symbol. I came from a public school in PH and that part of the history is simply not taught and not accessible to most students from our country. I was able to learn about it and it was a learning experience reading about the symbol and its history. Those who crucified Chaeng for that has superiority complex. Not everyone had undergone the same education as they did and they could have just simply educated her (I read a lot of thread in twitter about that) instead of just shutting her off. It was actually quite ironic seeing people said that idols shouldn't be expected to be perfect, yet some of those people are the one's bashing her. Just my cents.

Yes, mina is an underrated main dancer, the position was given to her during Cheer Up era, not many know that mina is also a main dancer cause we don't see her in any solo dance
amazing video as always. dahyun is my bias and non-onces have this perception that she is really loud and extra, which she totally is at times. But most of the time she is actually very quiet, introspective, and mysterious!

Mina's strength as a dancer comes in precision and elegance, which is what the guide showcases, not perfectly. Mina is our Penguin/Minguin because she waddles like a penguin (when she forgets her elegant princess persona). JYP always tells her to stop that habit, but Onces love it alot. Mina mostly likes to stay at home in bed, Jihyo even gave her a small projector and screen for christmas to use in her bedroom, she is friends with Lisa though (They are born three days apart). Chaeyoung is friends with Chaeyoung (Rosie) as well, they had a dinner date a while ago. Dubu/Dahyun is indeed alot, like others pointed out, but only on camera. She is very active in talking to us on bubble though, almost every day even when they are busy. Both Jeongyeon and Mina had hiatuses due to mental health with prior injuries. As I understand it with Mina her knee injury made it impossible for her to practice as much as we felt she needed for their tour and so she felt growing anxiety because she felt she held the team back. Jeongyeon had long lasting problems with her neck and JYPE actually tried their best to help her. I'm so glad both of them were given a chance to rest, because now both of them have blossomed a lot since. Jeongyeon used to be "the boring one", but now she is hilarious at every turn. Mina is clearly happier and more confident. Wall of text, tl:dr - I LOVE TWICE.
I am not sure you could find many groups this popular and together this long that is more connected and get along as well as this one. They have done so many live events and tons of other on line content over too many years that people would have picked up on it by now if not a fact. Probably one of their greatest charms of this very charming group of women.

twice dorm system is complicated so initially they all was in a single dorm but then due to some fans who kept bothering them they moved out to 3 dorms, nayeon, momo and sana in the first jeongyeon, jihyo and mina in the second dahyun, chaeyoung and tzuyu in the last but now jeongyeon lives with her sister and sana moved out. there maybe some other members who moved out but that’s all we know.
Definitely agree that Mina's dance clips weren't the best examples, she's danced other choreos that fit her better. The "penguin" actually derives from her walking. Since she did ballet for a long time, her toes point outwards while walking and she looks like a penguin. Fans saw that trait of hers and started calling her "penguin", gifting her plushies, making memes etc... Idk why they just put clips of her with plushies instead of the reason why it's her nickname.
If you react to the Celebrate MV with lyrics you'll understand its significance. Celebrate was released after the news of all member's contract renewals as TWICE. Some of my fav Japanese Twice songs are: BDZ, Candy Pop, Celebrate, Kura Kura, Perfect World, Fake & True, Breakthrough, and Fanfare. TWICE is only of the rare groups that have a Japanese discography on the same level as their korean songs. Twice also has a large japanese fanbase.
One cannot choose between Nayeon's SOLO album and Japanese side of TWICE, but do which you want to do the most, that way you will enjoy it more while reacting!!! Looking forward to your next TWICE reaction!

This is Kiel Tutin from New Zealand, choreographer for "More & More" (Kiel Tutin and Lee Jung Lee), "I can't stop me" (Jonte' Moaning with Kiel Tutin and Lee Jung Lee), "Fancy" (Kiel Tutin and Lee Jung Lee) and more. In K-Pop often several choreographers work on a song, it is common that the company chooses parts of one choreographer's moves and parts of others for the finished dance. The TWICE members did a medley of their songs as a dance video with him.
Some of Twice still live together, Nayeon and Momo do, Dahyun and Tzuyu do (these two pairs also have dogs in their apartments and it's all very domestic haha), and last we heard Jeongyeon Jihyo and Mina do as well. But all of Twice are so ridiculously clingy, spending so much time together for seven years that whenever we get solo content from them a lot of it is just them missing the members. Being separated for two weeks in quarantine is the Twice equivalent of six months apart. 😭 And if one member is missing from a schedule you can trust the others to mention them at least ten or twenty times. You can really tell that for each of them, the other members are the center of their universe
Dahyun has piano covers and covers where she sings and plays piano (and one with guitar) on their channel, she also opened their Twiceland Tour by playing the Mission Impossible Theme on piano. She's really a talented musician, and she even has perfect pitch which is an extremely rare ability to have.
I agree that there could've been better clips to showcase Mina's dance talents and also show some more insight about her. She is an introvert and very quiet, but is still very caring and affectionate. For example she knit beanies and scarves for the members and also made phone straps for all 9 of them. Melody Projects and Performance Projects are one-off pieces that JYP has asked (but not ordered) the members to do in order to show off their performance capabilities beyond what they do in Twice. Melody Projects primarily highlight their vocal capabilities while the two Performance Projects (Momo's and Jihyo's) highlight their dance performance prowess. There's no set schedule and they'll come out as the members are moved to do one and have the time to get it done. In 2021, Onces were gifted with 4 of them throughout the year - two Melody Projects and two Performance Projects. There are also non-Melody Project videos of the members doing stuff just because they felt like it. Dahyun does this the most, putting out a couple of small pieces a year as gifts to Once.
As to the reality competition, 'SIXTEEN' they were asked to 'show who they are' through their performance. Dahyun at that time got viral for that Eagle dance so she showed that (sorry about my english) Sana's performance was she made vegetable rolls (?) and JYP was impressed becuase what she did showed her personality (again, sorry for the english)

Well done spotting Jimin in that Mina dance piece, Lisa Blackpink was also part of that performance. Dahyun did the eagle dance in the first performance on 16 and she got the best remarks of anyone from JYP, that was exactly what he was looking for (Sana making a spring roll and Somi doing martial arts were the other two he complimented not the singers). I think Nayeon was particularly emotional during Pop because it was a big deal for her, she wasn't used to being without the members and they were making the album, Celebrate and TTT at the same time too so she must have been exhausted.
I'm a bit late but anyways, Formula of Love album is the best choice for your next reaction, it has the songs that you really need to listen like "Real You" - it has a lot of dynamics and a mix of 70s vibe, "Cruel" - the one that you said you should write down the songs you wanted to listen to, "Icon" - (A little spoiler) Chaeyoung has a long rap line here along with a sick beats, "Cactus" - Jihyo wrote and composed this song for her dead cactus cause she's too busy. They also have 3 sub units in this album Push-and-pull, Hello & 1,3,2 which they performed on the world tour in US. That album makes me into kpop because of their wide range of genres. Melody Projects is their way to show their individual talents (only Jeongyeon still does not have Melody project, but she said she will this year) Japanese songs are also good to react next, there's also Eyes Wide Open and Taste of Love Album you can react, but Formula of Love should definitely be your next and I hope you do. You should definitely do both! If you do Japanese you definitely need to have Breakthrough, Doughnut, and Perfect World on your list. For Nayeon you should do a whole album tbh, there's not one I don't listen to
1) You are definetly not ready for their Japanese songs. Especially Perfect world. I suggest you also watch their BDZ performance at the Tokyo Dome (any other Tokyo performance, Dance The Night Away for example). It gives you goose bumps 2) If you want to have a good idea of who twice is, their two last TTT are a good examples. The "Y2K TDDONG show" is just them being loud af lol, and they are really funny in this episode. The most recent one is "TTT Healing december". They go camping and you see them relaxing in a remote place. They make you forget that there are cameras filming them. They are just pure natural and it's healing ahah. Lastly if you want to know a little more about them, this summer they did a series of dates between the members so they talked a bit more deeply. Don't want to pressure yourself so I'm going to stop here but I'm glad that you are getting curious and interested about Twice. You are the first person that does review that I watch. That can get confusing. Also, while I do want to see your reaction to their Japanese songs/content, I vote for you checking out Nayeon’s solo next. The Melody Project is what TWICE'S covers of other artists are called. Sana just released one on her birthday 12/29. She covered a CHEEZE song and it's beautiful. Similarly l, the Performance Project is a member choosing a dance heavy focus. So far Momo and Jihyo have done one. 21:29 is the first song written by all members and is their song for ONCE. They said they chose 21:29 because that was what time they finished it - ONCE say it's TWICE and ONCE time. To Once: To the 9... we're a cheesy fandom. The song was written in Manila after the TWICELIGHTS show there in 2019, right before Mina’s hiatus. It's pretty emotional for the soft among us. You'll learn more about Mina’s and Jeongyeon's hiatuses as you get further into TWICE. "Celebrate" is the most recent Japanese album, and they wrote the lyrics, and JYP helped and composed it. It was released at the same time news of their contract renewal dropped last summer (2022). Because of those two songs, all members now have writing credits, which is great.

TWICE are chaotic when they are together but when they are around strangers they are so shy (7 members are introverts ,Jihyo used to be introvert too but recently joined Sana the only extrovert in TW)They're loud & crazy together ,no one is normal in TW even the calm ones; Mina is the observer type but when u talk to her u will be amazed with her mind, she always think differently than others&most of times when she's with her members u can't even hear her because she has a soft voice & the others are loud esp Jihyo; Dahyun is a quiet&private person, she is a good listener, totally different from her character in shows, her crazy quirky side show when she hear exciting music or play games; Tzuyu is so innocent&cute, quiet with strangers & talkative around her unnies; Chaeyoung is a free spirit & a lovely baby;The oldest are the crazier/more childish members;Jeongyeon is the prankster mum, Sana is the super affectionate hyper sister(she's an only child so she really considers the 8 girls her real sisters),Momo is chill & used to be so naive (before meeting jeong&Nay hhh) maybe the shyest with strangers;Nayeon is just crazy! she has 2 sides, one super cool&one ..crazy side! 21:29 is a song that was written to Once, their fandom. I saw in either a vlive or an interview that they finished writing the song at 21:29, but I know that there's probably other meanings to it. As far as other TWICE stuff to watch...geez luckily there's so much. Definitely check out their Japanese stuff, especially Breaththrough, Perfect World, Good at Love (B-Side), Fake and True and Kura Kura, though all of their Japanese releases are great. Also, their 'Time to Twice' content is funny, heartwarming and sometimes calming. B-sides, B-sides, B-sides, and also Dance Practices, and Dance the Night Away...amazing song.

Mina's strength as a dancer comes in precision and elegance, which is what the guide showcases, not perfectly. Mina is our Penguin/Minguin because she waddles like a penguin (when she forgets her elegant princess persona). JYP always tells her to stop that habit, but Onces love it alot. Mina mostly likes to stay at home in bed, Jihyo even gave her a small projector and screen for christmas to use in her bedroom, she is friends with Lisa though (They are born three days apart). Chaeyoung is friends with Chaeyoung (Rosie) as well, they had a dinner date a while ago. Dubu/Dahyun is indeed alot, like others pointed out, but only on camera. She is very active in talking to us on bubble though, almost every day even when they are busy.
Both Jeongyeon and Mina had hiatuses due to mental health with prior injuries. As I understand it with Mina her knee injury made it impossible for her to practice as much as we felt she needed for their tour and so she felt growing anxiety because she felt she held the team back. Jeongyeon had long lasting problems with her neck and JYPE actually tried their best to help her. I'm so glad both of them were given a chance to rest, because now both of them have blossomed a lot since. Jeongyeon used to be "the boring one", but now she is hilarious at every turn. Mina is clearly happier and more confident. Wall of text, tl:dr - I LOVE TWICE.

I am not sure you could find many groups this popular and together this long that is more connected and get along as well as this one. They have done so many live events and tons of other on line content over too many years that people would have picked up on it by now if not a fact. Probably one of their greatest charms of this very charming group of women.

twice dorm system is complicated so initially they all was in a single dorm but then due to some fans who kept bothering them they moved out to 3 dorms, nayeon, momo and sana in the first jeongyeon, jihyo and mina in the second dahyun, chaeyoung and tzuyu in the last but now jeongyeon lives with her sister and sana moved out. there maybe some other members who moved out but that’s all we know.
Definitely agree that Mina's dance clips weren't the best examples, she's danced other choreos that fit her better.
The "penguin" actually derives from her walking. Since she did ballet for a long time, her toes point outwards while walking and she looks like a penguin. Fans saw that trait of hers and started calling her "penguin", gifting her plushies, making memes etc... Idk why they just put clips of her with plushies instead of the reason why it's her nickname.
They should've added the one at MAMA alongside Momo + another one with Momo as partners.

If you react to the Celebrate MV with lyrics you'll understand its significance. Celebrate was released after the news of all member's contract renewals as TWICE. Some of my fav Japanese Twice songs are: BDZ, Candy Pop, Celebrate, Kura Kura, Perfect World, Fake & True, Breakthrough, and Fanfare. TWICE is only of the rare groups that have a Japanese discography on the same level as their korean songs. Twice also has a large japanese fanbase.
Melody Project is them showcasing their vocals by covering songs. Another one is called Performance Project
One cannot choose between Nayeon's SOLO album and Japanese side of TWICE, but do which you want to do the most, that way you will enjoy it more while reacting!!! Looking forward to your next TWICE reaction!

This is Kiel Tutin from New Zealand, choreographer for "More & More" (Kiel Tutin and Lee Jung Lee), "I can't stop me" (Jonte' Moaning with Kiel Tutin and Lee Jung Lee), "Fancy" (Kiel Tutin and Lee Jung Lee) and more. In K-Pop often several choreographers work on a song, it is common that the company chooses parts of one choreographer's moves and parts of others for the finished dance. The TWICE members did a medley of their songs as a dance video with him.
Some of Twice still live together, Nayeon and Momo do, Dahyun and Tzuyu do (these two pairs also have dogs in their apartments and it's all very domestic haha), and last we heard Jeongyeon Jihyo and Mina do as well. But all of Twice are so ridiculously clingy, spending so much time together for seven years that whenever we get solo content from them a lot of it is just them missing the members. Being separated for two weeks in quarantine is the Twice equivalent of six months apart. 😭 And if one member is missing from a schedule you can trust the others to mention them at least ten or twenty times. You can really tell that for each of them, the other members are the center of their universe
Dahyun has piano covers and covers where she sings and plays piano (and one with guitar) on their channel, she also opened their Twiceland Tour by playing the Mission Impossible Theme on piano. She's really a talented musician, and she even has perfect pitch which is an extremely rare ability to have.
I agree that there could've been better clips to showcase Mina's dance talents and also show some more insight about her. She is an introvert and very quiet, but is still very caring and affectionate. For example she knit beanies and scarves for the members and also made phone straps for all 9 of them. She's also the maknae of the Japanese line, so Sana and Momo baby her a lot. And she's called penguin because she tends to walk with her feet out like a penguin.

Melody Projects and Performance Projects are one-off pieces that JYP has asked (but not ordered) the members to do in order to show off their performance capabilities beyond what they do in Twice. Melody Projects primarily highlight their vocal capabilities while the two Performance Projects (Momo's and Jihyo's) highlight their dance performance prowess. There's no set schedule and they'll come out as the members are moved to do one and have the time to get it done. In 2021, Onces were gifted with 4 of them throughout the year - two Melody Projects and two Performance Projects.
There are also non-Melody Project videos of the members doing stuff just because they felt like it. Dahyun does this the most, putting out a couple of small pieces a year as gifts to Once.

As to the reality competition, 'SIXTEEN' they were asked to 'show who they are' through their performance. Dahyun at that time got viral for that Eagle dance so she showed that (sorry about my english)

Dahyun did the eagle dance in the first performance on 16 and she got the best remarks of anyone from JYP, that was exactly what he was looking for (Sana making a spring roll and Somi doing martial arts were the other two he complimented not the singers).
I think Nayeon was particularly emotional during Pop because it was a big deal for her, she wasn't used to being without the members and they were making the album, Celebrate and TTT at the same time too so she must have been exhausted.

I'm a bit late but anyways, Formula of Love album is the best choice for your next reaction, it has the songs that you really need to listen like "Real You" - it has a lot of dynamics and a mix of 70s vibe, "Cruel" - the one that you said you should write down the songs you wanted to listen to, "Icon" - (A little spoiler) Chaeyoung has a long rap line here along with a sick beats, "Cactus" - Jihyo wrote and composed this song for her dead cactus cause she's too busy. They also have 3 sub units in this album Push-and-pull, Hello & 1,3,2 which they performed on the world tour in US. That album makes me into kpop because of their wide range of genres.
Melody Projects is their way to show their individual talents (only Jeongyeon still does not have Melody project, but she said she will this year)
Japanese songs are also good to react next, there's also Eyes Wide Open and Taste of Love Album you can react, but Formula of Love should definitely be your next and I hope you do. So take your time, I'll be waiting for your next reaction

And to answer your question about living arrangements, the last time i checked they live in groups of 3s: Nayeon, Momo, Sana / Jeongyeon, Jihyo, Mina / Dahyun, Chaeyoung, Tzuyu. Also don't worry Sana and Momo both initially thought Jihyo was older than them too!

I think check out some of their Japanese title tracks - my ults are Better, Celebrate and Breakthrough. They treat their Jap releases with the same care, craft and budget (lol) and have solidified their position in the market over there. The rap line is top tier and you'll fall more in love.
Other than that, my highly recommended Kor Ep is Taste of Love (everyone talks about Twice B-sides being completely legendary) and this EP is the epitome of that. And the album is so underrated.

For Nayeon you should do a whole album tbh, there's not one I don't listen to
1) You are definetly not ready for their Japanese songs. Especially Perfect world. I suggest you also watch their BDZ performance at the Tokyo Dome (any other Tokyo performance, Dance The Night Away for example). It gives you goose bumps
2) If you want to have a good idea of who twice is, their two last TTT are a good examples. The "Y2K TDDONG show" is just them being loud af lol, and they are really funny in this episode. The most recent one is "TTT Healing december". They go camping and you see them relaxing in a remote place. They make you forget that there are cameras filming them. They are just pure natural and it's healing ahah.
Lastly if you want to know a little more about them, this summer they did a series of dates between the members so they talked a bit more deeply. Don't want to pressure yourself so I'm going to stop here but I'm glad that you are getting curious and interested about Twice. You are the first person that does review that I watch. I normally don't like because people tend to overreact and you seem genuine :)

The Melody Project is what TWICE'S covers of other artists are called. Sana just released one on her birthday 12/29. She covered a CHEEZE song and it's beautiful. Similarly l, the Performance Project is a member choosing a dance heavy focus. So far Momo and Jihyo have done one.
21:29 is the first song written by all members and is their song for ONCE. They said they chose 21:29 because that was what time they finished it - ONCE say it's TWICE and ONCE time. To Once: To the 9... we're a cheesy fandom. The song was written in Manila after the TWICELIGHTS show there in 2019, right before Mina’s hiatus. It's pretty emotional for the soft among us. You'll learn more about Mina’s and Jeongyeon's hiatuses as you get further into TWICE.
"Celebrate" is the most recent Japanese album, and they wrote the lyrics, and JYP helped and composed it. It was released at the same time news of their contract renewal dropped last summer (2022). Because of those two songs, all members now have writing credits, which is great.
I vote for Nayeon's solo first because the songs on her album are solid.
