    5:12 I chuckled a little as I'd just been watching a previous video where the first thing you installed was a trampoline. I got one the same for my kids, and one thing I'd recommend is bringing any of the blue plastic bits that cover the poles or springs, indoors during the winter. I didn't and three years later the cold weather just disintegrated it, and now I have tiny bits of blue material everywhere. On the plus side the metal frame can be recycled into useful things for the garden.

    • @OffGridBruce
      @OffGridBruce  2 роки тому +1

      😂 I know after Cearbhuil had said that I was like ooops but I felt it needed to go in as food for thought. The kids have had that trampoline for about 5 years so far and it’s been used all year every year apart from our time living in the van. That blue stuff as you said has completely deteriorated now. It was very confronting to collect all the rubbish and seeing everything I have ever owned/used in my life so far dumped. Part of me would like to go full Mark Boyle and turn it all off and go to a more simple life

    • @banzy3

      @@OffGridBruce I'd say it was a worthy investment for your kids.
      I understand where you're coming from. We're a family of four (two youngish kids), we grow our own, cook on outdoor wood stoves, heat with wood and very rarely buy anything that isn't essential. It's easier to do when you have land, resources and experience, and not so easy if you're in a town or city. The simple life is not so simple in practice, but it does have its rewards. :)
      Like yourself, I have worries about what might happen if the money runs out, but I've been doing it for years now, and things seem to work themselves out. It does get easier, and after the initial outlays you can live on less.

    We’ve been clearing rubbish too, all week, but out of rental properties, 6 transit van loads over the weigh bridge, a lot of it is because people can’t be bothered to sort their rubbish properly, then their bins don’t get emptied, so it just accumulates in their back yards….
    To a certain extent the council’s are to blame as it’s so difficult for people to dispose of domestic waste properly these days and it’s so easy to fly tip or pay some guy off Facebook £20 to fly tip it for them!! - Rant over 😂

    But 40 + yrs back, I found myself with trash bag in hand walking the property along side of a dirt road that lead to 3 more holdings. Discovered the young folk still at home would toss out their beer & bottles, (plus empty bags of snack food,) hiding evidence from their parents, I would guess.
    Some people would have rather buried their rubbish than to go & pay for landfill. After a another 50 yrs or so, one could invite archeologists from the university to come & dig it.😊🤭😸

      I’d say you’re definitely right there. I think it’s accumulated over a few years

      Hi Conn. a lot of the rubbish will have been from back in the day when there was no dump to take it too and the rest I think was from fly tippers from when the house was empty for years

      I’m sure it’s not the last people who owned the place. I think it’s a mix of fly tipping

    Their dumping rubbish in all rural areas unfortunately, very very disgusting. In my property i removed years n years of nylon rope and netting that was dumped by a farmer. Type of rope nd stuff that holds bales of hay and sileage together. I mean it was buried under loads of stones and stuck to tree roots for a good 40 metres. Since i moved into the property ive removed as much as i can see and the farmer also saw me one day rooting it all out. Ive messed a small but with the river (small stream) nd mae quiet big pools that now holds about 40 or 50 trout. Its amazing the way all these fish have been breeding nd its beautiful to watch how a tiny shallow narrow river can now hold wild trout again.
