Well done for pointing out the gag loop is not a sword hanger. Seems like some folk want to see historic items so much, that common sense goes out the window. Great video and congratulations on your half dime. Andy
Yeah I agree--and it's tough to correct all the old lore when it's all over the internet and people can find stuff that confirms their assumptions. Thanks for the kind words and above all I appreciate your viewership of my little channel. Best wishes for 2025 to you and yours.
You're talking 200 seated in 12yrs and 20 capped bust coins. Taken me 30yrs to find my first seated and first capped. Found both this year 1834 capped bust half dollar and a cc mint mark seated dime without a date unfortunately. Both of which are rare in my area but the capped is unheard of in south central Georgia. Nothing going on in the 1830s around here but it's in almost uncirculated condition so it had to be a much later drop out of somebody's collection or something.
Woah it sounds like you for one heck of a coin for your first! I've only ever dug 3-4 CC mint seated coins, even including the ones I dug in the 20 years of digging before I moved to Louisiana
Nice work!!! Another half dime……. Makes me crazy. Anyway, have you watched “Muddog Mandy” on UA-cam? He’s a detectorist from Vermont, hits a lot of old home sites in what I think is southeastern Vermont , he has at least 11 GW buttons dug, many on live digs. I throw up in my mouth every time I watch, but they are out there. Out of my group of diggin friends ( 7 of us) we only have 1, the big chicken version and we’re in a prime area for them. As to everything is civil war😂 I’ve stopped arguing with new diggers about the bullets with grease grooves being “3 ringers” no matter the caliber and every bent wire and gag loop being a sword hanger. Anyway, enough from me, keep at it and enjoy your “ cool” weather while you can!!
Haha I completely agree and very well said! I've been extremely lucky down here to have dug 3 GWs in Louisiana--and I have to say that I cant even stand the whole "civil war era" name which is given to everything it seems. Well, the civil war was 4 years so that's hardly an "era." How about just "mid 19th century" as a description? Oh, wait--that doesn't sound as grand as insinuating that #everythingiscivilwar 🤣 I appreciate you my friend. Keep fighting the good fight against misinformation.
