For those interested in the technical side of things, each side ( both bottles connected per one side) would give you around 4.9kilograms of buoyancy. So fitted as both sides gives you 9.8 kilo of total buoyancy.

I like your idea and I have added to it to see if it will work on my wilderness sit in 120. what i have done is added 6" of pvc in between the T and the bottles and placed a union to put the bottles into. Than i cut a piece of what I call a noodle or pool float to fit in between the bottles and tie wrapped it to the pvc. I used a flag pole support to the other end and connected it to the kayak with an aluminum plate inside to support it. It can be raised up or down to fit your needs.

Thanks for the video! I need one of these for my sit on top for fishing to stand up, so will this let me stand up?

    Hi,
I went shopping today and grabbed the items outlined in your vid and am going to have a go at making them. I found though that 2L pepsi bottles won't fit into the Tpeice regardless of filing etc.
Did you choose the 2.25 coke bottles because of the cap size ? I figure theyre all the same size but I could be wrong? did you try other sizes for fit ?
    cheers

I live in Florida and have just purchased a yak like this, and would like to try your outrigger, but I did not see the test video of you using the yak you modified. Could you send that to me, or post it here? Also I see that you have modified the biminis for something with a star in it, can you advise?

The bimini mounts are from the local boat shop .. however I've since found these ones to be not as stable as they should be.. if you can get mounts with locking star wheels they are much better.

Nice simple design... Why not use PVC glue like they use for sprinkler systems to seal joints verses silicone? Also, grey PVC electrical conduit is thicker walled and a stronger substitute for the white PVC tube. Marine expanding foam will do nothing for buoyancy. Air is what floats, the more the better. What it may do is add a little durability preventing the plastic bottle from denting.

@ozemedia yea, i can stand on it but it is REALLY wobbly and you have to focus all on staying straight and you cant focus on fishing. Thanks for your reply, its helped quite a bit

I'm surprised you can't stand up on your SOT.. usually they won't tip - but I guess you do need good balance to do so..

wont work on sea, bottles will come off unless you coat them with fiberglass
