Here in Canada when Vancouver got the winter Olympics, they kicked many poor people out of the area in Vancouver where the games were being held. Those people never managed to get the value of their properties back.

Luz Long was a true gentleman. He gave decisive technical advice to his opponent Jesse Owens in long jump, helping him defeat him.
The 1936 Berlin Olympic Games set the standard for all Olympic Games to be held in the World. That standard is still being held. The Berlin Stadium is considered one if not the most beautiful Olympic Stadium in the World and even though today it has a smaller seating capacity it is still one of the largest buildings to still stand in the World. Long may it stand.

I live in Eugene Oregon and when the track championship games happened this last summer the city went and moved all the homeless camps to the far side of town for a couple weeks and cleaned up the city around the university of Oregon. Then when everyone left they let the homeless back into the parks and allowing them to live on peoples front yards again.

I know it makes a great story but Germany, a country that lost a entire generation of men, had massive economic depression and over a decade of political instability, lost almost 1/3 of its territory and despite all this won almost twice as many medals as the 2 place country (USA). That is actually much more impressive story than the former
