1. What CAD program did you first learn? 2. How many years have you been doing CAD? You’re an excellent teacher! Thank you for making the impossible possible, and the difficult simple. Have a great week!
So I originally come from 3D Design using imagine3D and went through a number of 3D packages including truespace, 3D Studio Max, and ended up learning Rhino3D along with some AutoCAD. And length of time, over 10 years collectively as have had breaks in between . Been with Freecad around 4 / 5 ish I believe. Thank you so much, very kind of you. Great to hear that I am helping people learn 😊😊😊
@@MangoJellySolutions I feel a little less embarrassed that you’re so good at this, thank you! :) I’ve been feverishly watching FreeCAD tutorials from everyone on UA-cam and you’re unquestionably the best. You know CAD, FreeCAD, how to teach, and clearly have years of experiencing doing CAD and teaching. It shows! I’m still at the noob stage of getting confused and stuck when things don’t work the way I expect. A little bit is FreeCAD bugs, more is FreeCAD quirks, but most is just a painful lack of general CAD competence on my part. :) It surprises me how much of CAD is projections and 2D in general. CAD feels like 2.5D instead of 3D. :) Before trying it myself my intuitive mental model for CAD was like OpenSCAD (i.e. writing code to make shapes) or something closer TinkerCAD (i.e. mostly solid 3D objects interacting as in the Part workbench). The latest weekly build of 0.22 has an annoying display bug that visually leaves (part of?) moved lines in their old location until a forced refresh. Other than that it’s been a HUGE improvement over 0.19 I had been using - I will never go back! Your videos have made it possible for me to imagine an object in my mind and then turn that into a real 3D object with my 3d printer using the spells and wizardry of FreeCAD - it feels magical! Thanks again for enriching the world by sharing your knowledge publicly.
Just had a quick look and then quickly looked at the previous episode. I like this. Fast, no basics. Please make a Play list with Mastering FreeCAD. Would like to be able to watch the series at another time when I have more time.
Thank you, I wanted to bring another dimension to the channel to help push the learning of freecad to another level to support the learning of intermediate and beginners at the same time. So yet another series lol. I have created a playlist, thank you for reminding me and be adding as I go along.
Wow, this is great video, very new to freecad and still awaiting arrival of my 3d printer, however want to do some molds and this video is bang on , I have just spent the last two days replaying & finally got my own model too work with this video, again thanks as I could not find any other video that show making mold with alignment markers
Great explained, thanks. Is there any way to make a mirror of some complex part with some padding, so that they fit into each other after printing? Something like a boolean cut with padding?
32:28 Hi Darren, when I try the ALT Drag of Fusion form LurePart into LureMould all I get is a FreeCAD Screen resize. If I just drag without the ALT it works but leaves the BoundingBox Sketch in LurePart in Error? As a safe workaround I'll try a copy of Fusion dragged to Lure Mould. These little inconsistencies are annoying. Hmmm just reloaded (from good saves) and seem to be back on track interesting I dont get the same Icons as you during drag but I'll press on. Again I think local system and Linux Distro issue? Wonder if my 10 ys plus computer is feeling the pace? I've come back to it today with a somewhat fresh head. I did the Lure Import via Select Fusion Tab & then Link button.
Quick question about deviation? Does the deviation number reflect on how accurate the model will print, or is it just how it looks in freecad? Great video, tons of great info here. Please keep it up. You are the best. Regards from Sweden.
The deviation does increase the output size when exporting to a format such as STL and when you import into say blender you can see the difference. I have yet to experiment with 3D prints to see if there is actually a noticeably difference. Glad your enjoying the videos.
Thanks for all, i'm luky because i love fc and fishing to. I try days ago to make a symetry of a solid but it's not so easy. It could be another solution for this project.
You will be happy to know I'm going to be doing some fishing lure builds as the shapes with plugs and spinners that are perfect for teaching as they require a number of different techniques.
@@MangoJellySolutions Effectively your this tuto was extremly rich. The more difficult for me is to find the python names (classes, members-property etc) because i found the c++ api but not python api ! The names are differents between the edit boxes in the gui, the python formulas and the c++ api. (ex : BoundingBox, BoundBox and BoundBox3) ! I to change the subject i hope you're leaving near the sea in cornwall (kayak, fishing etc) !
This video could be shortened by leaving out the modelling part. Could you maybe just focus on how to link files? I am sure people who use FreeCAD are able to model parts.
Redoing the exercise it all went to Hell late in the exercise. Q1. When we interrogate the BoundBox in the Console why are the Values different? i.e. "shp.BoundBox.XLength 63.89126880150304" but on Screen it says 66.51? Likewise "shp.BoundBox.YLength 191.53466604001986" vs 196.25? Why the diff? 53:16 "Clone:Edge12" Selected not the Vertex. At least I've learned enough to figure it out! Like you said at the Start an advanced exercise, I can see how using the Python Console Data can assist in Parametric connection of Objects. No doubt useful in complex designs. 59:01 As far as I can see my Cut worked ok? (that's a First!) lol.Sphere detail and Lure "Tail" Fillets all cut out quite nicely. Once again FreeCAD inconsistency at work? Geometry check as expected aok. Interesting you had problems? 1:01:59 Working back through I remember the original Fillet used Faces, Once again I presume these issues are probably Hardware/ Distro related. Generally my FreeCAD acts as per Yours or with Minor diffs (again however for a New Chum can be daunting).

Thank you for these more advanced videos. They are very interesting and I'm seeing how I may use the lessons in some projects that I have.
Thanks for the feedback, glad your enjoying.
Wow. Never ever i can do this be my self. Was great to follow the steps for learning. Thank you so much 🙂
You’re welcome 😊 it's great to have such a supportive community who watch these videos . Thank you 👍
A lot going on in there, but very informative. Thanks again for your excellent presentation. 😊👏🏻
Glad you enjoyed it 😊👍

Great to hear your enjoying and it was what you was looking for. Good luck with your 3D printing.
Excellent!
Glad you liked it!

Would it be better/possible to create the bounding box sketch in the LureMold file rather than the WormLurePart?
Great explained, thanks.

Salut, je m'appelle Darren, vraiment content que vous ayez apprécié les vidéos 👍😊
@@MangoJellySolutions Bonjour Darren, moi c'est Loïc, super je vois que tu parles aussi le français 👍
