That blues driver is soooo versatile.
Thank you Robert another great pedal shootout.
Started guitar in 1994. My first pedal given to me as a Christmas gift was the DS-2. Had no idea how to set it correctly for about two years and then boom! Once I got a Boss footswitch for it, it was really fun!
I just used the settings you had on the distortion side of my os-2. Finally got a tone I like on that setting. Nice MC riffs.
Howdy Pardner cheers from NY! I own an old Blues Driver, love the heck outta that pedal. Good vid Robert, much appreciated! :-)
Nice shoot out....
The turbo distortion and the blues driver are my favourite of them. The BD 2 is also a great clean boost for a really high gain amp.
Great demo. I've owned many of these Boss pedals. I like the Blues Driver and the Turbo Distortion the most. The riffs you were playing around 9:20 with the TD 2 on boost mode sounded terrific, and reminiscent of the sort of distortion Mick had on that song. It's amazing what the right pedal can do.
Still using my DS-2 on my board. Works great for what I am doing.
Cool demo Robert. I still like the Boss Blues Driver over the rest of the pedals here. Less harsh sounding. I've owned the Turbo Distortion and the Overdrive/Distortion many years ago. Wish I had kept the overdrive/distortion
I've had the super feedbacker since new & find that with just a quarter drive & half volume on it, it has a really gutsy sound ( malcom young style), doesn't seem to be as loud as the others tested here though. each to their own i guess.
Ten Seconds To Love!!!!!
my question is for rock music i play either ds1 or st 2 any advice tips ext for choosing? the sound im going for is bassy/ballsy highish juicy/sustain gain tone that you can hear clearly comming from a clean amp
I like the ST-2 myself.
does the overdrive/distortion pedal actually have the same circuits as the OD-1 and DS-1 combined into one? or is it some other way of doing both overdrive and distortion in the same pedal? i swear they never sound the same as the original pedals on their own sound.
I’m not sure, but I don’t think so because it doesn’t sound like either of those pedals. I’m pretty sure it’s its own thing.
REACH FOR THE SKY PARTNER!
Opening question,,,,nope but imagine being a 15 year old kid in '72 and reading about Firebird V....say What? Got on.
Not a Boss pedal fan. HM-2 was sorta fun but I don't miss it (given away).
Few years later, I ordered a Super Shifter from a local shop. Harmonist was great, this should be too. Nope. Suk'd.
No refund which was expected. DS-1 and a MicroCube for trade. Love the amp, DS-1, last in line.
Gary Moore apparently used this with a Strat and Marshall for Corridors Of Power. Great album.
I'm looking for an overdrive to go with the DSL100h I bought a couple months ago. I'm going to watch this again later on the good speakers. I've been looking at the Boss Super Overdrive. Mostly because its only $50.
SD1 is a classic for a reason
@@davidjameschamberlain All the videos I watched seem to lead back to that pedal. have you ever tried the 'overdrive' on a floor processor? For example I have a RP1. Does that work the same way? I've been to busy to try lately.
Ten seconds to love. Classic riff! DS 1 sounds best I think.
Are there any differences in the shades of orange used on the pedals?
Yep, slight differences in shades of orange. To my knowledge, Boss has never used the same shade of a color twice!
Robert's Guitar Dungeon I suspected as much. Clever chaps!
Ahem. Robert... what about BLACK?
Still different. Put a Metal Zone, HM-2, and a Power Stack right up against each other. They are all different shades of black. (The Metal Zone is actually almost a really dark grey.)
So, what do you get when you turned them all on?
Boss go BRRRRRRRRRR…….
The DS1 has and always been a great pedal. Some of those sound like mud...I suppose the blues drivers ok😁
The Blues pedal always sound good at 12:00.
That PW2 pedal rocks. Too bad its rare and hard to find.
Yep, it’s an oddball. Sounds like an oddball, too. LOL
BD-2 = clarity
DS-2 (mode 2) = Strongest, in a good way
I'd like to know your thoughts on Boss ST-2 Power Stack, if you are not going to make a video of it. Great video!!!
That one actually will be featured in a video soon, but not until next month. I’m waiting on another pedal to arrive for the same video.
Dude. The power stack is awesome
@@mikerevis6439 I noticed that too. As a bedroom guitar player who has very limited resources, I also need to know what trick (or pedal) can enhance the tone in the most versatile way.
For me it's a 3 or 4 band parametric (not graphic) eq in the fx loop...
@@mikerevis6439 Thank you. I'll keep that in mind (parametric).
Came here expecting to like the DF-2 the most but the DS-2 really surprised me. Really full tones out of that thing. Leagues better than the DS-1. What a terrible pedal, unforgivingly shrill.
