  • Despite attempts made by the Fiji Police to stop our campaign for Justice march to "Abolish the UK Visa Fee's Policy" at the very last minute, we still managed to deliver our 115 signed petition letter to the British High Commissioner, Mr Christopher George Edger.
Team CNV did all we could to make sure we followed what was asked of us from all government departments in Fiji we were advised to approach to get approval prior to the protest march.
Public announcements were paid and advertised in the local newspapers, Road Authority gave their permission for the demonstration to take place and other local authorities informed.
However, Police Headquarters handed us our decline notice to march, at the 11th hour of the day before our march.
They even turned up at the assembling point in Sukuna Park, to stop our veterans from gathering in large numbers which was very sad to see baring in mind that the Fiji sevens coach, Gareth Baber, was live on Facebook yesterday afternoon filming children playing seven's.
The police officers informed us that we were not allowed more than 3 people to gather in public, yet the public are allowed to watch rugby tournaments almost every weekend!!!
We were not disheartened and we continued true and dedicated to our commitments we were on the day and as a result we achieved our end goal.
Big thank you to all those veterans, families and supporters who turned up at Sukuna park, Suva last night, Fiji time (Wed 30th September) and was told to return home.
Your support and belief in us meant a great deal. You put yourselves at risk regardless and we commend you all for your bravery.
Thank you Isei Vono for leading our team and for not giving up despite the numerous hurdles you've had to overcome. Plan A-C well executed.
Thank you Mrs Ratucaucau for being there and for speaking up for your son, Taitusi Ratucaucau.
Last but not least, vinaka vakalevu Mr. Romanu Naceva MBE for turning up like a true soldier that you are. Heart wrenching moment when you insisted on joining us at our campaign even though you weren't feeling too well. Spoken like a true patriot, "Once a gunner always a gunner"
Eighty year old Mr Romanu Naceva MBE, 26 Field Regiment Royal Artillery was recruited in Fiji in Nov 1961. One of the first 212 Fijian men to be recruited in the British army in the 1960's.
Mr Naceva confirmed that he along with his fellow colleagues didn't pay a single penny towards getting their citizenship after coming out of the army. He served 22 years in the British army.
We at team CNV are the leading advocates for justice and fair treatment of our armed forces community. We will not give up that easily and we will continue to be on the frontline of this whole campaign.
