Bachelor Of Powalgarh was 10 Feet 7 Inches Long and he was surviving for 4 days after getting shot on head by Jim Corbett. Bachelor of Powalgarh was not a Man-Eater but Jim Corbett killed him , Most of the people criticized Jim Corbett for killing Bachelor Of Powalgarh. Corbett Killed Bachelor when he was searching for a mate.

The Bachelor of Powalgarh was not a Man Eater at all. There was really no need to kill him. It's really sad to know that Mr. Jim Corbett who claimed to protect those tigers that were not Man Eaters, went back on his previous assurance of not killing them.

Sad to know that some people used to spend moments on hunting innocent beasts instead of protecting them. Anybody should have stopped such worst step as early as possible.

That was legendary tradition of hunting of innocent during ramayan and Mahabharata even prehistoric period for flesh .. hunting of lions tigers leopards can't be justified except man eaters .... drastically increasing population led to killing of innocent lives for the security of human being

This big innocent beast didn't deserve to die like this. One of a kind who survived a bullet in the head.

Easy to blame without knowing full facts...
The reason why he killed this magnificent specimen was to help a poor herder who had 25 buffaloes. Paraphrasing, the tiger was big enough to kill one buffalo per day and thus wipe out his entire cattle within 25 days.
It was more of a help to a poor man's income than his ambition to secure the trophy though i guess there would have been some.
Those who have lived in tiger infested jungles know the danger and the risk of losing cattles. Poor communication with no compensation for the loss of income.
Now some will say I have colonial mentality but credit must be given where it is due.
My observations are based on the facts of the books authored by the hunter. Whether those are true or not I don't know. But thinking from a herder's perspective, the tiger was a threat to his livelihood and therefore needed to be eliminated.
