Despite their efforts to focus more on unit-based meta, it is still mostly the same shit, dying to Production Orders, Bomber Mafia and Retribution, First Responders. Only new stuff is more archetype decks, which helps mid-range compete against Aggro and Ramp.
also. i can't stand bomber mafia, it's so annoying. love the tojo for that though, or the other 1 cost special that develops bombers. its too cheap imo
I managed to get to field marshal with a german/brit (which used to be a german/US) deck that is based around the Panzer II C buffing veterans units. After a bit of fine tuning it works pretty well, it has enough low cost removal to slow down jaggro and brit air. Besides veteran units (including a very useful 2/5 guard which is good at slowing jaggro and if left unchecked can wipe commandos) and removal, it has blitz doctrine, reich research and Maus, plus the HE219 which is again good against commandos and aggro. It doesn't really struggle with anything, but I'm not sure if I'd call it consistent
@@AKBplays Sure, here it is! I feel like the expansion made the meta very restrictive in terms of deck building, it was like them giving you a bunch of cards that clearly fit together (Throp or Shermans) so you could only play one type of unit based deck per nation. And also, if you weren’t super stacked with wildcards, you would out of luck and pretty much had to play an old deck so the meta ended up not really being unit based at all
Agreed, it sucks. I try to play some midrange decks and get jammed by aggro or ramp greed. Or I try to play something more complex and just lose because I drew terribly. Then I just play 5 games of jaggro, win all 5 and get bored.
yeah, meta feels like it's in a bit of a weird spot. not sure what to do about it. my salvage deck is honestly kind of struggling, because if they don't run a unit based deck, i can't do much mid to late. if i want to win early, it turns into a jaggro deck, which means i should just play jaggro. operation cost could be fun, but is an expensive deck to craft. shermans are good, but again you can easily lose to a jaggro deck, or commando spam with the instant death or 2 dmg elite, and then you have the OTK decks which become repetitive, and aren't too skill based, but require certain elites... we may need a shakeup sooner than later. which is sad considering this is post the big update.
@@AKBplays Yeah a balance patch is needed, who knows if we get one though. 3 op cost is fun, but if you don't draw 13th engineers by turn 3-4 you're in big trouble usually. I also do okay with brit/italian spirit of rome/kangaroo deck or US/italy, but they both rely on just outlasting the opponent. I think the self-damage soviet deck is actually fast and strong enough to win against a lot of things, I may go try that again. Unfortunately I think shermans are simply too slow and weak overall. calliopes with the +2/2 buffing infantry and some 164th infantry support are probably most of their strength and cheap. I really want to play a german deck just for rank ups but I can't seem to make anything work consistently for them, blitz doctrine mostly too slow and I'm not sure what else to do with them.
As a casual player hovering around rank 10 its decent, still face og players coming back whooping my ass with brit air or jaggro but I feel like theres more experimentation (prob bc not everyone has all the cards at rank 15-10)
what do you think about jaggro ? have you tried it? a lot of the kards are cheap and the elites/specials commonly found in the competitive jaggro decks can easily be replaced with lesser options
@@AKBplays I despise it, jap is by far my least played nation because I just hate jaggro so much I wont even play it, but when I do I almost always win. Its pretty stupid
eh the current meta is kinda stagnating. I am seeing way too many big soviet units. The sheer volume of big soviet tanks/guards is a bit ridiculous. It is very difficult to win a war of attrition with the soviets. My favorite deck US Brit still works quite decently in getting FM, but I had to adjust a few cards here and there. I am just not really sure how to counter the soviet without mirroring them
feels like 40 kards per deck almost isn't enough to deal with the wide range of possibilities. is this a good sign of a healthy meta? or an issue of specialized decks creating a rock paper scissors situation?
seems like the only thing that works consistently is a good ole jaggro or some commando spam. how are you guys feeling about the meta?
