leave the electrolytic capacitor out and it will desulfate the battery too as it is charging , the capacitor is removing the Ripple HZ that will desulfate a battery
Isn't it the sheer high current (until the electrolyte starts boiling, then let it cool off) that is desulfating the lead acid battery?

Reverse voltage protection is achieved by adding a (schottky) diode before the battery

Think you the video. I've made that battery charger. I got 18.04 Volt from the capacity, but when I wanted to charge the battery 12 Volt 75AH, the steam came out from the bridge. I changed the capacity with 4700µF 25V but the problem is not resulted. I don't know, may be my battery powerful.
Please, might you tell why.

The transformer is rated 2 amps only. You need a 6 or 8 amps. transformer to be able to charge your battery. The higher the uF the better, more steady output, say 16000uF.

Great video. I wish someone would do a good video on repairing Automotive Battery Chargers. Present You Tube Video’s on Automotive Battery Chargers are terrible. I have 2 Sears Craftsman Battery Chargers that need to be repaired and I can’t find any decent info on the net let alone “You Tube” to repair them. Would hate to throw them away in the garbage. It’s probably something simple to fix but without the knowledge i can’t do anything with them.
Do you know what's up with them?
Can you test the transformer yourself?
Maybe take a close up photo of the circuit board and zoom in and look for burns anywhere is usually a obvious giveaway of the problem.
Post a picture if you're not sure mate.

@@CreativeWorldPro May be not, because I tried to use a 4700µF 16V, and the device steamed and the capacity was damaged. Changing with a 2200µF 25V it still steamed at one alternative wire from the transformer. Could you explain it for comprehension, please.
Electrolytic capacitor not necessarily needed. 10 volts secondary voltage for 12 volts battery will give 14 volts peak.
