When I was still in college, post mortem was sort of my favorite thing to watch when I got home. Now, DEBRIEF is giving me the same vibes. Also, solo investigations are awesome, Ryan's experience felt very authentic and raw.
22:31 - I'm a pastor's kid, so maybe I can shed some light on this. Usually there's studies/offices in a different part of church buildings where the pastor(s) and church workers are. In the church that we're at now, if you go in through the front doors, you have to walk all the way up to the front of the church, go through a door on the side, and through a hallway to get to the offices/classrooms, and the pastor's study connects to the chancel (front of the church where the altar is). In our old church, if you went in through the front doors, you had to go up stairs into the narthex (back of the church before you get to the sanctuary), to the left, and down the stairs into the basement, and that's where the pastor's study is. Pastors don't normally just hang out in the sanctuary lol
The amount of people who dump ashes at disneyland (and employees who have to vaccume it up) plus those that have died on rides, it's probably haunted if you believe in ghosts.
There is no way you are not doing more of these. They are way too good and way too loved by the people. Keep them rare to keep them special. Maybe 1 a year?
You guys should do Ghost files Alone investigations, one episode only Shane, and another episode only Ryan. You dont communicate with each other between the episodes on what happened and on what your experience was like, and only after both investigations are done, you compare and see what differences there are
This was an incredible feat, especially knowing the fear and discomfort you had to endure. I know it's a long shot, but even if you do one of these kinds of investigation per year, I think a lot of us would be overjoyed. This was a true dark baptism, and you came out stronger.
Regarding catballs. There is a tiny cylinder inside and when it makes contact at the bottom or top of its tube it lights up. So, if you place the ball with the cylinder vertically eventually the mechanism will give in to gravity and drop hence the "tick" of it dropping in the tube and making contact. The cylinder must be placed horizontally to get an actual reading. Many say, we haven't had those go off in ages. That's because the cylinder is horizontal. lol Break one open and see for yourself. They're about a dollar. No loss for debunking. Shane, crack one open.
Great episode and debrief, guys. Ryan - hearing you talk honestly about your inner experience during this solo investigation was so valuable. I would love to see more like this from both of you!
I would definitely watch a show of Ryan traveling to little-known places where he interviews someone on site. I agree with Shane in that was the most interesting part for me- learning the history of a place.
while I do love Shane's comedic input, PERSONALLY when I watch ghost hunting videos I prefer the "raw" and authentic style. It feels real, it feels like we are there with you, and when something profound does happen it immediately makes it 1000x more believable. It felt more engaging and I was excited for the next part to come out. Usually with ghost files I like to have it on in the background, but with Ryan's solo series I HAD to sit with my full attention on the video. And while it was a hassle for Ryan, I also THOUROUGHLY appreciate the setting up of cameras/devices all through out the house, because most people watch these videos to evaluate the possibility of ghosts existing. People that truly want to prove the existence of ghosts should go to the FULL extent, which is why I immediately feel distrustful towards social media ghost hunters that obviously have A LOT of money but only use 1-2 devices. I understand if Ryan never does a solo series again, but I just wanted to make it known that I, along with MANY other people, enjoyed and appreciated his sacrifice and would love more
If the goal is to find evidence, then the goal shouldn't also be "to make it more believable", right? It should be believable on its own merit, not because of the situation(i.e. Ryan being alone, you being alone, being scared and on edge, etc). That makes for good TV, but not good evidence because its slanted by the opinion of the viewer. I actually hated this from an evidence standpoint because EVERYTHING is heightened by Ryan's anxiety and inability to reason things out when things happen. Take the cat toys, for example. Another commenter pointed out that if those things sit in a specific angle, the toy can go off by itself, but since Ryan never covers the mechanics of the toy, he automatically jumps to "its a ghost" when one of them moves. That's the kind of stuff that makes this a hobby and not a search for evidence, because he's desperate for evidence and doesn't examine his tools to explain their function. In fact, that's the big problem with ALL ghost hunting equipment. At the same time, this was the most engaged I've been in a Ghost Files show in a while, waiting for the next Parts because of the seemingly low-budget presentation and nods to BFU.
For more consistency of Ghost Files: Alone there really should still be someone there in case something happens. I would totally watch a Shane Travel Vlog that includes a paranormal investigation. That would also be some good content
I was in an empty part of an office I work at and the cold CHILLS I got made me scared to leave through that dark hallway after watching the last episode!!! It was so good!!!
I loved the intimate aspect of the Alone series and the fact that you’re there for so long. I think even if you were to do it together just the less organized, more personal videos are worth it!! Even just one a season! Maybe it could be fun to have one where it’s just the two of them but Shane is actively trying to debunk all the scary things that are happening
Ryan bringing up the 3 being repeated made me think of angel numbers; seeing angel number 3333 signifies a strong message about embracing your true self, expressing your creativity, and fully tapping into your spiritual potential; it encourages you to trust your intuition, share your unique gifts with the world, and embark on a journey of personal growth and self-discovery, all while maintaining balance and positive energy across different aspects of your life. thats pretty cool that showed up on your solo investigation 👍🏼🙂↕️
I don’t even fully believe in the paranormal but I don’t think I could’ve done this just in case I’m wrong 😂 Ryan doesn’t realize how brave this was of him especially since he does fully believe. I aspire to be as brave 🙏
You battling your own fears and feeling confidence in yourself for accomplishing what you set out to do is absolutely wonderful! Thank you for taking us along for this journey ☺️ I think that Alone was definitely an interesting watch for sure, but I think that the most important thing about this short series is that you had never done something like this before. Doing it another time would be interesting, no doubt about it, but some of the inspiration and magic of watching you overcome those fears may not be as impactful as the first go around. You are a wonderful storyteller Ryan, and I appreciate all the hard work and effort you put into your craft--thank you!! 🩷
Yes pls Shane solo nxt!!!! I wanna see him putting "rational" funny reasoning in everything 😂 and maybe a rare case of him being scared would be caught in camera 🤣
utterly thrilled to see this come out when i’ve got free time!! i’ve been hooked on alone since the first episode came out and have really been looking forward to the debrief! i love ghost files and unsolved, but this is the best iteration of the concept so far. whether you do more of this style or if this becomes just a one-off, i enjoyed it greatly and will definitely be back to rewatch many times! props for pulling off such a difficult series, ryan, you did amazing!
More than the ghost hunting I absolutely love the emotional journey of the series. The vulnerability and rawness Ryan dares to show us is commendable. And makes for a really genuine feel. I also wanna shout out to Shane for this debrief cause that was an excellent interview.
20:58 I think that we associate daylight as a refuge from scary things (probably something that stems from our caveman brains idk) so to be in an environment like huanted/abandoned buildings in the day is very unsettling, it goes against the unspoken rule of "monsters/ghosts disappear when the sun rises" like we are told as children. So, to see the evidence suggesting the contrary is uncomfortable.
I loved Ghost Files Alone. Genuinely the best ghost hunting content I’ve ever seen. The raw simplicity of it was so refreshing. This is actually the closest I’ve come to believing in ghosts.
39:30 i'm crying watching this because i'm currently paralyzed cause of my anxiety, and i'm trying to beat it every time but nothing. you doing this to test your mental limit and you saying all this now, gave me a motivation to try again and then maybe i could finally beat the voices and be the person i want myself to be. thank you so much for doing this.
Hey there! I'm just an internet stranger, but I'm sincerely rooting for you. Anxiety sucks because it tells us we can't be the person we know we are meant to be. Never give in - you got this!
I'm sure it was way more terrifying and stressful doing that investigation alone. But it was really really great seeing you doing this alone, the interview everything was so amazing to see. Really hope you do more of these types of investigations 😊
this show feels way more authentic when ryan does everything alone, has way more soul in it. but this stuff takes 100 times more work to do alone and i appreciate ryans selfless sacrifice for us :)
I'm so super proud for you, Ryan. You can remember this experience in the future when your mental voice is being a bastard, and tell it you got through this, you can get through anything.
You guys should definitely do more of these, seeing Ghost Files: Alone just brought me back home to the good ol’ Buzzfeed Unsolved days. You guys kept that one eerie, and suspenseful. Loved that you guys brought that back with this one ❤
It would be cool to see a series of going to places that aren't well known and have 1 place that isn't haunted to see if Ryan can find evidence while having a dud place.
the alone series is exactly what your followers have been begging for! we love when it’s just raw and real. most of us come to the channel for you guys before the production quality!
Dude, I have been in and out of watching these types of vids since OG Ghosthunters in '05. Yeah, I'm old. The 24 hours alone was absolutely top notch. The genre started to get too polished, too many people on the investigation, staged, over hyped reactions, etc. This reminds me back in the amateur days when everything felt more genuine.
I like the idea of talking to people in the area. I remember watching you guys at the Sallie house ( both times) and seeing how close the houses were , what have they seen or heard.
I know this was not easy for Ryan to do. But it was such an amazing three part series to watch! I loved the filming style, it had a very nostalgic aspect to it. Ryan truly being alone and filming the whole time was really cool. I also loved that Ryan sat down with the owner and went over the history of the property.
I don't think there's much value in Shane doing this but I would LOVE to see Ryan do this again. I found it inspiring to hear him talk about overcoming his self doubt in such a tangible way.
Ryan, I appreciate how open you are about your struggles with your anxiety disorder. As someone with a generalized anxiety disorder, I get it! Not listening to that voice is so difficult at times, and I admire that you were able to push through and finish the investigation ♥️
This was the best series ryan please do more...😔. It felt like an old way of making content. It's also your passion. I enjoy watching what you love doing😁.
I've got to say, you don't give yourself enough credit, I think myself pretty stable minded, but half those sounds adding the atmosphere and the backstory. My mind would be going a thousand miles a minute. The fact you done this was insane and if it was me , Jesus. No I couldn't even comprehend attempting that. Your insane, well-done . Your right up there with franko 😂
When you’re in Gracie’s room, hearing the footsteps above… What is above you? If it is the bloody hallway, could it be the same ‘ghost’ causing the running footsteps we heard coming at you when talking to the doll?! Love the show!!
Oh yeah this was a banger. Having the crew there and Shayne’s skepticism is great but this was so genuinely dreadful to watch it really hit home that this was a scary ghost hunt
Something I've learned from old flooring be it peel n stick tiles, linoleum, or wooden floors. They have a fixed or affixed position over time. Old wood gets bent from being dry as does the glue on tiles. When you walk on them, wood shifts and tile re-adheres for a tad. Once you move away the glue will let loose again or wood flex back to it's natural position hence the "steps", where you were, seem to be following you. It's just the floor returning to where it was before. Same with ticks, clicks, or pops. It's most likely paint popping off and/or falling to the floor. Even when old wood floors are walked on/shifted it does affect walls and doorways and most doors that open on their own are wooden floors. I've never seen a door open that's on a concrete foundation. Food for thought regarding unfounded fear or debunking.

When I was still in college, post mortem was sort of my favorite thing to watch when I got home. Now, DEBRIEF is giving me the same vibes. Also, solo investigations are awesome, Ryan's experience felt very authentic and raw.
I would happily watch Shane sit alone in a house dismissing everything he hears and pissing off ghosts
I just think he would utterly refuse XD
Ghost files is such a great show! As someone who doesn’t believe in ghosts it’s a blast to watch, keep up the good work!
Ghost files is awesome especially Alone. I really love how they put Shane in for the debrief! Love you guys!
i understand if ryan would never want to do one of these again but just know we would LOVEEE it!!!
“Don’t like toenails, don’t like clothes.”-- my new personal mantra
😂😂
This structure of debrief is wonderful ! Just a normal chat between the two of you guys!! We need more of this
this is why i looove too many spirits
So looking forward to this debrief! Hoping Ryan still feels proud of himself, because he definitely should be - you absolute madman.
Honestly I'd watch a travel show of Ryan going to theme parks. I enjoy escapist media, so it'd be enjoyable for those of us that can't go.
The amount of people who dump ashes at disneyland (and employees who have to vaccume it up) plus those that have died on rides, it's probably haunted if you believe in ghosts.
Ryan asking "what's 2025 like?" is actually the scariest part of this whole thing
Ryan is braver than most people. It takes real bravery to face your fears.
There is no way you are not doing more of these. They are way too good and way too loved by the people. Keep them rare to keep them special. Maybe 1 a year?
You guys should do Ghost files Alone investigations, one episode only Shane, and another episode only Ryan. You dont communicate with each other between the episodes on what happened and on what your experience was like, and only after both investigations are done, you compare and see what differences there are
Love this
This was an incredible feat, especially knowing the fear and discomfort you had to endure.
Thanks for debunking those. #AlsoaShaniac
I've been waiting for this all week! We are so proud of you Ryan!! You did an amazing job and amazing evidence!!!
Yes i was refreshing my feed all evening .. shamed to say 😇
Alone was incredibly tense and satisfying to watch. Thank you for facing your fear and making this project. We're lucky!
if they bring they wives like a double date would be something i would 100% watch
OMG YES
Ghost Files Less Alone Than Usual

SHANE GIVE US MORE PUPPET HISTORY I SEE THAT MUG
while I do love Shane's comedic input, PERSONALLY when I watch ghost hunting videos I prefer the "raw" and authentic style.
I feel like this has been a great direction for your channel.
Happy January! It’s been AWFUL nation wide. We southerners did enjoy the snow! I hope all my LA and Cali folks are doing well🫶🫶🫶
alone definitely brought back that fear into ghost hunting! i couldn’t sleep at all after watching the first episode 😭
That is some true sh*#$t🙂
I was in an empty part of an office I work at and the cold CHILLS I got made me scared to leave through that dark hallway after watching the last episode!!! It was so good!!!
i wouldn’t watch the first investigation!! i knew i would be so scared and not sleep
You guys should do a Valentine's special with both your significant others!
Thank you for taking us along for this journey ☺️
I think that Alone was definitely an interesting watch for sure, but I think that the most important thing about this short series is that you had never done something like this before. Doing it another time would be interesting, no doubt about it, but some of the inspiration and magic of watching you overcome those fears may not be as impactful as the first go around.
You are a wonderful storyteller Ryan, and I appreciate all the hard work and effort you put into your craft--thank you!! 🩷
Petition for Shane to do ghost files alone 😌
Yes Shane would have made me watch the whole thing I’m sorry but he’s just funnier
the questions 😂
Why so u can watch him do a sleep over & say nothing is happening the whole time🤣
Yes pls Shane solo nxt!!!! I wanna see him putting "rational" funny reasoning in everything 😂 and maybe a rare case of him being scared would be caught in camera 🤣
It was a phenomenal mini-series, Ryan. I second that you should be very proud of yourself. I was engaged the entire multi-part series.
utterly thrilled to see this come out when i’ve got free time!! i’ve been hooked on alone since the first episode came out and have really been looking forward to the debrief! i love ghost files and unsolved, but this is the best iteration of the concept so far. whether you do more of this style or if this becomes just a one-off, i enjoyed it greatly and will definitely be back to rewatch many times! props for pulling off such a difficult series, ryan, you did amazing!
I really enjoyed this one of a kind short series. It really felt like a character growth storyline for Ryan. I'm so proud of him!
Ugh watching Gracie’s room gives me chills each time, I can’t imagine how horrifying it would be in person. And in the dark! No thank you
I'm sure it was way more terrifying and stressful doing that investigation alone. But it was really really great seeing you doing this alone, the interview everything was so amazing to see. Really hope you do more of these types of investigations 😊
3:48 the holy water gun tucked into Ryan’s jeans took me out💀 I genuinely thought he had a real gun for a second
The ghoul glock
this show feels way more authentic when ryan does everything alone, has way more soul in it. but this stuff takes 100 times more work to do alone and i appreciate ryans selfless sacrifice for us :)
I love shane interviewing you for the solo ghost files 🥰 but please do these again once in a while!
I'm so super proud for you, Ryan. You can remember this experience in the future when your mental voice is being a bastard, and tell it you got through this, you can get through anything.
Shane needs to do an alone! It would be hysterical!
You guys should definitely do more of these, seeing Ghost Files: Alone just brought me back home to the good ol’ Buzzfeed Unsolved days. You guys kept that one eerie, and suspenseful. Loved that you guys brought that back with this one ❤
man who thought there was gonna be a debrief on this one too? not me, thats for sure! so glad they did it though. much love
You guys are really helping me get through some tough times. We appreciate you guys and the hardwork you do . We know it's not easy.
It would be cool to see a series of going to places that aren't well known and have 1 place that isn't haunted to see if Ryan can find evidence while having a dud place.
Talking about facing your fears. Good on you Ryan doing this. Not many of us would face the fear.
Best episode ever. Please do more.
gosh, everything Ryan says about anxiety and adhd is so relatable. it's like having a constant tornado in your mind.
the alone series is exactly what your followers have been begging for! we love when it’s just raw and real. most of us come to the channel for you guys before the production quality!
I definitely want to see Shane do an alone investigation, or even both Ryan and Shane alone together!
Well done Ryan, great achievement. Shane you should have a Friday night talk show, great interviewer.
We just need more Shane and ryan
AGREEEEEEED
I like the idea of talking to people in the area. I remember watching you guys at the Sallie house ( both times) and seeing how close the houses were , what have they seen or heard.
So comforting so see Shane’s face again😭
Ryan... Never stop going. You realized no one can stand in your way but you.
I think it would still be pretty interesting to throw shane into one of these situations just to see what kind of interactions he would get 😹
Oh yeah this was a banger.
Concrete foundations shift over time too. That affects the entire structure including the walls and framing.
You guy's are great. I first saw you doing you're vids several years ago or more, and i got into paranomal vids on youtube, because of both of you,Thank you......... Also you guys are veryyyyyy funny. You should come to Spain, there are some very spooky places, castles like the famous Alhambra palace in the city of Granada, also ther are sooooo many moorish towers, especially in Andalucia......un abrazo from a British guy living in Spain....😊😊
What about you two stay in a haunted location for like a few days, pretending you’re living there or something?
Some people that say ghosts at haunted places take a while to start showing up or doing weird stuff (I agree since I lived in a haunted house)
I know Shane would feel tortured but I’d love to see that!!!
yes!! this ^^^
I would love to see Shane do this, the contrast between Ryan and him would be so entertaining.
