Logic Pro Latency Fix
Вставка
- Опубліковано 1 жов 2024
- Fix the latency issue of Logic Pro. Logic has this little known hidden away feature for recording latency. So if you have a plugin heavy session but even just want to record some simple midi or maybe guitar, its almost impossible ti keep your timing correct. You can simple adjust both the latency buffer system and the recording latency delay to suit your needs.

My latency just start messing up even at the lowest setting now
sameeee
Most human can't perceive latency under 10ms. But something is very weird with Logic latency management, it randomly increases and I need to restart the software.
Mate this really helped me out. I was actually out of sync recording live bass and guitar with a drum track and click. Thought I was losing it but this was what I needed to do. Thanks!
thank you so much. such an easy fix and it was bugging me so much!!!
I love a video like this that is straight to the point
You're a life saver. A great quick and straight to the point video. Liked and subscribed!
🙏 glad you got it sorted. Appreciate the support.
If this doesn't work do you ever do direct monitoring for vocals going in? Not the same without FX though.
my resulting latency is at 14.4ms and I followed your steps and nothing is happening. do you know what to do? It would great if you could help
Recording? General settings > Record > Low Latency Mode
TBH 14ms is fast id be surprised if you squeeze it much lower.
@@Unders thank you! low latency mode worked.
I need help - I did a ping and my recording delay is at 17,245 samples! My buffer was set at 32 when I did it, and the delay compensation only goes up to -5000 samples. I move the arrow to -5000 & it’s only helped just a little. I’m running a MOTU 8PreES. I thought I was running too much processing in my project at first, but I barely have any plugins, and my Mac has a lot of HD space & memory. And MOTU’s routing software doesn’t have any buffer settings, so I can’t adjust anything there. Anyone have any insight?
What an absolute hero 😂 I couldn’t figure out why my recording was a full second off
I think i was having hassle with midi being way off, its when stuff like this happens you think. Someone else will be having the same nightmare, Video to fix it 😆
This is really helpful! I watched several videos on the same subject but this one seems allowed me to get right on the beat. Thanks
Try going into audio/general and under plug-in latency tick the box for low latency monitoring mode
farrr for so long I just recorded instruments from the logic instrument software cos I couldn't figure out how to fix the latency from my rd 2000 audio when recording with other instruments. Was out of sync. Much appreciated
What if I am getting a latency from when I record, for example my mic is delayed?
🔥🔥🔥
UPDATE: The 2 full second delay has now been resolved. No where on the internet at this time that I know of has anyone addressed this issue, of which cannot actually be resolved. It turns out that the huge 2 second delay is caused by the Apple's Wireless Air Pods Max Headphones, or any wireless headphones for that matter. We must hard wire (tether) the headphones directly to the audio jack output on the computer. For whatever reason, wireless headphones are not compatible with Logic Pro or any other audio software that requires hearing the audio input live in real time. In a nut shell. Wireless headphone are not compatible for listening to real time (live) audio input. DO NOT BUY WIRELESS HEADPHONES if you require hearing your audio inputs in real time and you don't want to be tethered to a computer. Apple's AIR POD HEADPHONE description should alert consumers in the Air Pod's sales description that a headphone cord is required to hear external audio input in real time.
Your video might help others, but your video assumes everyone is dealing with minor latency problems like between 5.0 to as much as 30ms. Rather than a whopping two full seconds of delay. Turns out this is a widespread problem among millions of wireless headphone users, only that they will never notice it until they need to hear their audio live in real time for recording live tracks.
It would be pretty unrealistic to try an help with uncommon problems, Even more unrealistic to make a video troubleshooting M1 issues before M1 was even a thing.... None the less the issue your describing from what i've heard with others is usually a plugin that's unable to process in realtime and is likely not native an thus going through rosetta also exacerbating the issue. Disable everything, if it resolves then turn on one by one until we discover the culprit. Failing that test in another DAW to see if thats also got the issue. Then perhaps we can consider the firewire connection. Best of luck.

For whatever reason, wireless headphones are not compatible with Logic Pro or any other audio software that requires hearing the audio input live in real time. In a nut shell. Apple's top of the line wireless headphone are not compatible for listening to real time audio input. DO NOT BUY THEM if you require hearing your audio inputs in real time. OTHERWISE the headphones are just fine in real time for mixing and when using MIDI to trigger software instruments. The SOUND QUALITY is beyond awesome, and the low end in stunning, and incredibly clear. (I will make my own video for this once)
@@Unders - NOTE: This is an extremely common problem when using wireless headphones, of which millions of us do. This is not an M1 issue, this problem affects all computers when real time audio is required.
This really helped me, thank you! Also love how you get straight to the solution from the beginning of the video!
Glad it helped, Happy music making.
best type of video straight to the solution
Don’t get why my M2 macbook pro with a fresh logic plugins without any plugins gets 7.8ms latency on 32 buffer size when just a interface is plugged in.. seems like every video i see people have way older macs and they get way faster latency times. Is there something I’m doing wrong ?
7.8ms is incredibly fast still. Some dedicated hardware units like an MPC pressing the pad to the sound happens that we perceive as “instant” is 6-7ms
Many thanks! I thought I could not play in time anymore!
Unless it’s 4/4 I’m absolutely hopeless and latency just makes things worse 😂 glad it’s sorted, happy playing.
My latency is as high as 563ms and as low as 517ms. Can anyone tell me why mine is so high?
does this help with live looping? i use a rc505 with logic and my loops record a bit late which for looping is really bad lol. I know you said it fluctuates for live performances but does it still help at all?
yo so i just tested it and it works wonders! i knew i wasnt that off beat 😅. Damn bro big ups to you, you solved the biggest problem thats been holding me back! 😉
So just wanted to update that after a while looping like this i still notice latency especially when looping faster rhythms such as high hats. The buffer thing helps but i still get lag to my monitors to where its impossible to get a clean loop when doing overdubs. The only way i could see to work around this would be to either perform ahead of time which is dumb. You shouldnt have to do that. Or maybe monitoring straight from the rc505 would give u a less latent monitor? I will try this out later and report back how it goes. If not then the only option would probably have to be selling the rc505 and buying a newer faster macbook and learning how to loop using live loops in logic.
The issue is I’ve done all of this but it’s still laggy asf
when i use my wireless headphones i get like 225ms latency 😭😭 the worst part is that i cant find my aux cable
Yeah Bluetooth isn’t ideal for that regard. Video players compensate by delaying the video based on the Bluetooth connection. But a daw doesn’t work that way.
Finding this page has been a godsend. thank you so much. I've had this issue forever and kept getting the same BS solutions on you tube. Thanks again.
Happy music making 🤜🤛
Yay what a great fix
and the I yanked the bluetooth out of the amp and put the amp straight into the headphones IN of the mini mac. rookie mistakes..
perfect. liked and subscribed.
Excellent and straight to the point. Thank you.
The other thing that helped me was switching off all the mastering plugins on my stereo out.
HOW is your latency still so fast? I am using M1 MBPro, usb-c Motu M2. So confused...
I work at 44.1, If your working at higher bit rates. thats absolutely a factor.
I almost thought that was going to be the difference. But I am also running at 44.1 kHz. 😂💀@@Unders
great video, pat on yo back man
Didn’t totally fix latency but it helped so thanks 🙏🏼 Gonna just try to commit everything to audio. Idk why my vocal tracks aren’t being converted with their buss effects tho :/ I think I’d save much more CPU if vocals didn’t need any plugins at all.
🙏
Thank you so fffing much
smashed it.
I cannot thank you enough for this video ❤
I'm so glad!
Thank you! 🙂🙏
I've never had latency issues on Mac
Ok 👍 great news.
Running a new M1 Studio and I can not record because of this stupid latency problem. What is this 1992?
I also have the M1 Mac Studio. The latency is so severe of anywhere from a quarter of a second to a full two seconds making it impossible to use at all. Did you resolve this by chance? I’m beginning to wonder how widespread this problem is?
great tip
Thx for the hint ❤ ... Turned out mine issue was "low latency" switch was off 😊 now is ok
Glad I could help
Where is that locatee
@@lilahkstar Record -> Low Latency Monitoring Mode
Short and sweet man. Love it 👍
Thanks 👍I just to keep things concise while also explaining. As I personally dislike hearing an epic monologue for a tutorial. Cant always
idk but it doesnt work for me :(
Then something else is going on. Like a plugin with latency on your master bus.
Genius 👍
Thank you bro! So quick and simple!
Great 👍 video. Subscribed.
Welcome, Hope the Logic 11 videos help you out too later this month.
@@Unders Thank you. I’m looking forward to the Logic Pro update.
thank you!!! mine had a 12ms delay like what on earth 💀
Damn I know the pain. I have to work with about 24-48 when recording the screen at high quality. An it makes playing anything so hit an miss 😂
@@Unders 😂
Never had this problem with logic before this year. Shit is garbage now.
thank you very much!

Thanks for the sub!
what cpu does your pc run ?? greets from Germany

This didn't work for me for some reason. I still have a HUGE delay of 199 ms when I'm on 1024. When I bring the buffer size down to 32, it's a 154.1ms delay. Idk what else to do. I don't have an audio interface to plug my mic into. I only have a USB mic that I plug into the back of my computer. Help!!
this video was very helpful dude 💯
Can u please tell a good free DAW for Microsoft .
Reaper has a free to use for personal projects version I believe.
@@Unders thanks alot
Yes!!! Thank you!
🙏
this didn't work AT ALL lol
yeah fr
You saved the day. Thank you so much
Happy to help
THANK. YOU. =)
You're welcome!
:( Doesnt work. I change the buffer size, it changes the latency by less than a ms. I change the sample size, it changes nothing.
Thank you, fixed it.....
Glad I could help & thanks for subscribing
Thank you sir!
No worries!
Had zero effect.

really helpful, thanks man
Hope that helped

I already did that and I am getting latency, my buffer size is 64, and no plugins except an addictive keys instrument, what should i do?
Latency doing what though
@@Unders Latency when playing
@@sgeggbub1008 midi keyboard?
ugh it fixed it a bit but theres still some lag there..what else can i do??
dosen't do anything
Didn't work for me, no matter what I do, guitar playback is out of time. When I record it, it's perfect. Had enough, will switch to another DAW.
If its in time when recording it then its not latency. You have exactly give any info what so ever, But i'd guess you have follow / match tempo turned on.
@@Unders Thanks, will have a look at that.
@@Unders Okay, update and big thank you. Something was wrong, not sure could not find it BUT from your post advising it was not latency, I reset logic to its default setting. No latency, nothing all fixed. Would not of thought of this without your comment. Cheers!
Happy music making :)
try settings > audio > general : plug-in latency. Set it to "audio and software instrument tracks" while recording and back to "all" when mixing. Off works best if you "freeze" every track first so there's no plugins except on the one you're recording on.
Thank you sir! I gotta go back in my history and take some likes back now.
huh?
@@Unders I like someone's video that I thought helped me but didn't. I'm going back to get my like😅
@slowmotion421 😂 that’s so petty. And I feel it 😂😂😂
