8th grade.. Walked in to a Fred meyers and found myself looking at this CD Just because the album art. Dial up connection, bad grades and no outlet. Bought this CD without knowing anything about this artist. Went home, tossed this in my ps2 and I lost my shit. Been a fan Ever since. The next month? Bought the battle chest set of Diablo 2 and this CD was that games soundtrack for Many years to come. Thank god for music. This is all too nostalgic right now.
I am at a bit loss for words. I was in around the same grade and bought this album from Frey Meyer as well based solely on the cover artwork. Being a tech person even back then, I was interested in what kind of sounds this album would produce. Just recently got into electronic music at the time. Definitely nostalgic feels and enjoying revisiting those albums that first got me inspired down the electronic journey of self discovery and openness.
Just a Everyday Jungleist till the day I die... Then I'll be in the booth in nirvana, thrown' down the "classics"... Jungleism is a state of mind! P.L.U.R.
This is the future of music. The first time i heard him live my brain wasn't able to make out any of the drums it was like white noise turned up to 11! That was 98'. Were witnessing what our children's children will idolize one day!
This album was a spiritual awakening for me. I will forever regard this abulm as a breakthrough in my life's journey. I love this work of art forever and always.
I emailed him and told him that. I told him this speed up galactic beat shit sucks. He was not happy with me. And told me that I can stop listening to him..I did!!
Yeah it kind of went downhill from there but the man was and still is a working DJ. To some degree he has to evolve with the genre if he wants to get booked. I just had to realize that the popular sound of drum and bass had moved away from what I enjoyed.
I was fortunate enough that my buddy owned a "warehouse" in and around 1998. We had a number of great dnb guys come through. But my two favorites were Diesel Boy, and Kenny Ken. 8 double 18" sub bins (jbl drivers), 6 mid driver / high cabs, and (jbl) 4 monitors. All crown macrotech powered. It was one of the loudest underground parties in Baltimore... Had great great processing (dbx xovers). Those were the days! My job was not to let the amplifiers overheat and operate a tank of some kind of gas that made you laugh 😋. Not sure what it was. But it sure was a fun time. Oh yeah, we mounted the dj platforms so the needle didn't skip too. The police were familiar with the parties. But they never really bothered us. The worst were some parking tickets and them coming in and just asking if we could turn it down a little lol...
This is when we opened glow sticks up & covered our bodies. Dieselboy was unstoppable back in them days!! Hail to the SOLDIER BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dieselboy, Dara, Ak1200, Bad Boy Bill, this is what I cut my teeth on, and it’s teleporting me right back to when I found them!!!! Chills do not define the feeling, it’s euphoria
Damn…. 23 years later and this album is still easily top 20 dnb albums of all time. I remember hearing this live in Philly when he dropped it…. Was off the fucking hook. Always loved DB’s work even from the earlier days, but this one here might just be the best out of them all. Philly dnb scene was just nasty all around from ~95-05 (might still be… that’s just when I moved out lol) Love it!!
Even though I have the CD for this, I have to listen to it on youtube because Ive literally played it 1000 times and its no longer readable. This is a classic.
+Marc Fellerman Same boat here! I had all his tunes and over time its been stolen or damaged and now I have to goto youtube just to listen to my favorite jams.... such as this one! Old Dieselboy is the boss sauce! The new stuff I can't get into really its kind of too metal headish...
Fun fact, since I have most of these records from when I spun DNB in the day. At 37:06 he plays the A side of the Descent (original mix) until 38:09, then quickly in the bridge breakdown flips the record over to the B side (Decoder Remix) and brings it back in at 39:02. I loved this album when it came out, but had 80% of the tracks on white labels for about 3 months already so it was old hat already, lol. Still have a signed copy of Descent from the Diesel, funny story I waited outside the DJ booth for him at a rave, walked on in when the last DJ left and just stood there, Damien walked in and we looked exactly the same, except I was about 5 inches taller, I think security thought I was him and didnt even question it. He walked in and looked puzzled, I asked if he could sign the record and he was like "yeah, mix this track to start me off while I find a sharpie". And thats the story of how I started a Dieselboy set in Philly. Good times....
how did you manage to hear that? Coz that's when Side Effects' still playing and Descent kicks in at 39:02. I also think he should have played Descent a bit longer because the best part of it is mixed along with the next track and you miss out on that wobbly bassline.
BEST DRUM & BASS collaboration there is.💯 I used 2 listen 2 this when I was just a cub, but NOW that I've EVOLVED & have a HIGHER LEVEL of CONSCIOUSNESS, I UNDERSTAND the COMPLEXITY of it & the TOTALITY of what it can PRODUCE, ONLY through ULTRASONIC SOUND.
That number 6 Dom n Roland can't punish me was a f..king monster, I still put the record on my techs to clean up around house also the dillinja remix of ultrasonic sound, straight monster. Dillinja of course I mean how many DJs had 1 or more multiple dillinja records in thier sets. Dillinja a friggin food group of every Jungle DJ diet for their sets back in the day for sure. Straight monster
Maaan... that’s so familiar... just when BSE album “Driving insane” was playing in my headphones. I cleaned the whole apartment in less than 10 minutes
Good Lord. The first Track is still the best track on the album. The fact that Ed Rush and Optical put TWO Ram Trilogy tracks together to make the most crushing and sinister tracks produced in HISTORY is still resonating within me. If that track were p[layed out in its entirety today, people would ask for a rewind every time.
I've seen this man so many times that it's not even funny but I'm getting a little older now LOL I am 39 years old and I have seen him probably at least 20 times or better! I started in 99 and followed him from Florida New Jersey... In one weekend! And I got to see him at Ultra in 2004 which was pretty Kick-Ass but he wasn't on the main stage and that did not bother me at all! But now I'm sure he will blow up that mainstage if you would just come back to Ultra and I will only go if he comes! He is my absolute favorite DJ in this entire world! I love that man! No homo LOL
When I first gripped this CD and was playing it in my bedroom my older brother came in and said " what the fuck is this?Sounds like music someone would sacrifice virgins to." I agreed.

TRACK 11 BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OLD SCHOOL 4 LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DIESEL BOY, DJ FOUNDATION TO D'n'B!! DUBSTEP = TAKE A HIKE!
I'm working on a system for my house. 8 15" double bins, and 4 15" doubles with 2" horns. I got a pile of amplifiers that I'm going to test. It's all about cooling. I'm probably going to water cool the amplifiers. We'll see if I can reach 160db... I would pay for diesel boy to come and test out the system.
"Listen. I am connected to a vast Network that has been beyond your reach and experience. To humans, it is like staring at the sun, a blinding brightness that conceals a source of great power. D2 remastered my friend; Time to listen again.
Kids today: what's a CD?
I use to love the jungle rooms at party's back in the day they always seemed darker and a few degrees cooler than the rest of the party.
I remember Philly when he was a resident DJ at Fluid back in the day
DnB is both darker and cooler than trance/house/whatever the main room genre was ;)
Yep, got to see this sumbitch spin!!! I'll call it front row....but there was no front row
Just a Everyday Jungleist till the day I die... Then I'll be in the booth in nirvana, thrown' down the "classics"... Jungleism is a state of mind! P.L.U.R.
So true. None of my friends would go with me into the early jungle rooms. Actually they still won’t
