- Back with my final video on the Haval H2 2020 Lux Auto.
This vehicle is not actually new to the world but new to us in South Africa, it is actually the H2 blue label as it is referred to in China.
A bit of a background on the labels, red and blue, the one we call 2020 is actually a blue label, the aim was that its styling is more focused on the youth and red label (the one we refer to as pre-face lift) is focused on older customers due to its more sensible
styling. This car was launched in 2016 but came here late 2019 with less “luxury”
features to keep the price as low as possible.
So from the box, what do you get?
5 Year 100 000km Warranty.
5 Year 60 000km Service plan (15000 service intervals).
5 Year Unlimited Roadside Assistance.
Safety Features
- Standard 6 Airbags - Including front, side and curtain (Covering all the way to the
back)
- ESC - This is something you can never know
- Disc Brakes front (Ventilated) and Back - I have to say I am not impressed with the
stopping power however I just got used to it.
- (HBA) Hill brake assist - Need to get used to it, as sometimes you may feel like it is
refusing to go up as it is locked but in actual fact that is how it works. Just a tap on the accelerator then it will be released.
- DSR (Downhill speed regulation).
NCAP Rating
5 Stars (Tested in Australia 2015 - What Impressed me on the report is the protection via side impact, it scored 86,75% on front impact for the driver and 100% on head protection and for the rest of the body it was given 100% due to the policy adopted).

As for the yellow fog lights they do a better job and improving visibility in rainy/foggy conditions, white light might refract a bit more and reduce it in heavy rain or foggy conditions

Another neat trick with the H2 lux variant is the ability to close the sunroof using your key when your outside the car. Just simply press and hold the lock button on the key to close the sunroof.

True. Thanks a lot Kabelo. Somehow, I totally forgot that. It would have been better if it closed windows too as I started seeing this with like the 2013 Audi(s)/VW(s). Sometimes I can leave it tilted over night in the garage then I find it closed in the morning. They said it can sense the rain and close but not sure why it closes if kept open for too long.

@@mashudugereda5480 petrol is expensive and the car doesn't do justice too. I. Mean its a Turbo🤷♀️. In a month i use R2200 and tgats just me going from home to work.

@@sebuwam I got the car neh, let’s talk the aircon, can one switch it completely off coz I feel even when you press off there’s still some air coming through
@@mashudugereda5480 Hi Mashudu. Congratulations, I hope you get many happy Kilometers with it. 🙂. On the aircon issue, aircons in cars are designed in a way that they keep the temp where you left it even if its off and when you drive (especially when you go faster) it will blow in the cold/hot air depending on where you left it. Then there is a story of the fan, which is air coming in as you drive even when the aircon is off. On manual aircon its easy to see as all you do is put the fan control on 1 or 2 or 3 without pressing the a/c button then it will blow in the air. These two situations are applicable even in a car with auto a/c. For the former situation, you need to keep your aircon temp in between hot/cold, say around 22-23 degrees (depending on whats hot or cold to you) then turn it off and close all the vents in front of you. For the latter, just make sure you pressed the off button so it does not turn the fan on even when A/C appears to be off.

Hi Yusuf. The mode button is supposed to change it. The car resets everytime you turn the ignition off. Therefore you need to always change it after starting the car. If the button does not make changes while the vehicle is in motion then something is wrong and you need to take it back for inspection.
Noted, thanks. Downside is you have to change it every time you start the car.
@@mrpeery1 True. You always have to change it. I hardly use that when driving, my only issue is that economic holds gears for longer and to me I don't see much difference in fuel consumption compared to standard.
Hi there does the car have hill assist? Does the automatic do well going up hills? Is it tricky?
Hi there, yes it does, it can hold you while you stationary on the hill so you can easily go up. It also has auto brake which is holding the car in any position automatically (made for tiring traffic gems). The automatic is doing well going up the hill but you can feel it is working a little harder especially with 4 passengers and bags on the hills, say on the highway, it can go up doing 140km/h or just above. For hills in town, it is doing well as you not driving fast anyway. One thing though it is a heavy drinker (fuel-wise) on the hills.

Pleasure bro. Thanks a lot. It has a 55 litre tank, so usually if its empty we spend around R750-R800 depending on the fuel price. I guess the increase today may take it to just above R800. For consumption, I wanted to see how far can it go if I keep driving around 120km/h and not going beyond. I managed to do 580km (500 of those done on the long distance and 80 in town driving) with the gauge saying it can still do 190km. I guess it can give you +/-700km on one full tank if you are easy on it but if you drive at high speeds it returns around 550-620km on one full tank.

@@mashudugereda5480 🤣, hold on a bit on that, it gets better with time. When its new it does actually chow to a worrying point but it gets better as the car gets used to the road. It gets way better with time but the best solution is to go easy on the accelerator because how you pull up at traffic lights, keeping constant speeds at highways helps. Otherwise the more fun you have on the accelerator the more fuel it burns.

Hi, the button will show "A" on the instrument cluster once you press it. What will happen is that when you stop in traffic it will make the "beep" sound to show that its engaged and indicate on the screen as well. Once you leave everything it will hold it and when you go back to the accelerator it will release the car. Don't press the accelerator too hard. Just tap to release then drive. It feels like its locked when engaged on auto brake, don't be tempted to press the accelerator hard to release it because you can fly into the car in front of you.

@@mashudugereda5480 🤣. Worry not, I got you. So when you press the "A" next to the parking brake. It will be activated. Then when you do a lot of stop and go in traffic it will hold the car for you. It helps with resting your feet, you don't need to put your foot on the brake in traffic. Once you stop the car it will engage and you can leave everything then the car will be just hold itself (while the brake light at the back is on). When its time to move again you press the accelerator and thats it. Be careful when going back to the accelerator, press it softly as it can jump to the next car when releasing.

Hi Daniel, thanks a lot. So far we've experienced no mechanical issues, though I am a little worried about the brakes, they are already making noise. It might be down to the type of pads fit to the car, if they are worn out, I will be very worried as it is too early. Will check this on the 15000km service.

@@darrelshamdutt8199 Hi Daniel, Yes. They said its the dirt caused by the brakes when wearing or dust. I did experience this issue with my Ford Fiesta because but it gets better after cleaning them with a compressor for the tyres at the petrol station of I just pour water. I thought they were worn off as the noise was quite high pitched than the one I experience on the Ford but they are still fine.

Hi John, that is automatically set in the initial settings. I will check for you though if there are settings for that in the system

@@johby46 Hi John, apologies for coming back so late and still not having a solution. I think its best if you take it back for them to check if they can reset the mirror controls. I experience things like these usually if the battery was dead and the car resets some of the things. I have a Ford Fiesta which does that but as its been around for quite some time I found information on how to reset it. This one unfortunately I don't know how to.

How’s your H2 Lux now ... would like to know
Hi, so far we have done like +/-15500km on it and it has been holding up like a well oiled machine. Took it for service last week, no issues identified. I asked them to check the brakes as they tend to get noisy but they said they only needed cleaning. So far the noise is gone but I know it is likely to come back mostly when it gathers dust or the dust from normal wearing of brake pads.

@@zimcoder because it’s really good, there’s really nothing bad about it, it’s able to get things done properly.
