If you think about it, you never actually kill Mister Dark. Just those weird boss-hybrid-abominations he throws at you. The sneaky fuck is still out there.
Back in 1997, I was with my mom at probably Circuit City in Kansas, when they were still around and I was saw this box for "Rayman." It said it ran on DOS/3.1 and that's what we had on my parents computer at home. This sales guy was getting grilled by my mom, she was asking him if it was "kid friendly" basically. He assured her it was and she actually bought the game for me. Wow what an evil fucking game to get for your 8 year old son. This game was so horrifyingly frustrating and I played it on a keyboard for its entirety. I got to the end, but I don't think I ever beat it. Its probably the single hardest platformer I've ever played. It purposefully screws you over, the later boss fights are tough until you understand their patterns, the collision detection can be total BULLSHIT and the difficulty curve goes from easy to absolute train crash disaster like three or four levels in. (Thanks Mom. R.I.P)
@@AwesomeGuy2x Yes, but the difficulty of Rayman 1 is rubbish, the difficulty increases too quickly, the normal thing is that it increases as you pass the worlds, not that world 1 is easy and world 2 increases the difficulty a lot.
Wait .. THIS is the ending of the game i was addicted all my childhood? Just passed by 15 years later and I am disappointed haha.. just made it to the eraser pencil level..
i can see why they picked sweets and treats for last area,, its hansel and gretle.. the house of sweets to lure the victims. it lured rayman there . if you saw this place in the distance would you say no lol.
Just one thing; when I went through all that trouble, the art-work wasn't in a cube as shown here. Does that happen if you get through the game without using a continue? Edit: Nope. I was wrong.
I noticed some versions have a picture of a sunbathing Space Mama in the "art-cube", which I assume got removed in other versions 'cause the series was a LOT more kid-friendly in the first game.
You'd think that stuff would be tolerable if it's put at the VERY end of a game that kids would never be able to beat until they hit 18 or so. Actually, there's an unused picture of Betilla having a cup of tea with a Hunter (The gun guy).
Thank god Redemption decide to add cutscenes inbetween fights with him and The Dark Chimera, and this time, after defeating The Dark Chimera, he fights rayman more personally.
And your reward for saving the world are the ending credits! Haha... Personally I've never completed Rayman without abusing life-farming by using the Password system. By far the coolest part of the game for me was the first encounter with skops, especially the music and the way you resist like a pest and make him raise the lava level just to get you. (Or is the cave actually collapsing?)
Even though Rayman Redemption is longer, atleast it fixs the boss fight agaisnt Mr. Dark while adding a last encounter battle for Bad Rayman in a Doppelganger style side scroller fight
His boss fight in Redemption has been upgraded with The Dark Chimera being Phase 1 that is, until the second phase is where the real fight begins and in the last of his hp, he ACTUALLY uses the Great Protoons power
If you think about it, you never actually kill Mister Dark. Just those weird boss-hybrid-abominations he throws at you. The sneaky fuck is still out there.
If you play Rayman Redemption then you actually get to kill the little twat for reals
Nor does he seem to pose a threat again despite the world being threatened by Hoodlums, rabbids, and robot pirates.
Just looking at this level gives me diabetes.
A bit of a disappointing end for such a viciously hard game...
it's not something that you think about once you get this far. just proud that you beat such a bitch of a game.
Could of been worse...
doesnt make sense
Yes Ubi Soft Montpellier got lazy.
Mr.Dark was honestly really easy.
So this is where the Cosmic Clones in Super Mario Galaxy came from...
They probably took Dark Rayman as an inspiration
I's the perfect place for an villian to hide in, cause it's the last place you'd think a guy like 'Mr Dark' would be hiding at.

Wanna know what makes platformers fun?
The insane difficultly.
Rip to your mom man,
@@AwesomeGuy2x Yes, but the difficulty of Rayman 1 is rubbish, the difficulty increases too quickly, the normal thing is that it increases as you pass the worlds, not that world 1 is easy and world 2 increases the difficulty a lot.
What were they thinking while developing this game? Difficulty is completely insane

Thankfully Rayman Redemption fixs that problem
5:59 That's why you're forced to 100% the game before going to this level
Literally one cage was all we needed but noooooo we needed all 102 cages didn't we
Was getting every single one of the cages even necessary if only 2 ELECTOONS (usually the come with like 10 each cage) actually nedded to help rayman
This is a real blast from the past!
They need to remake this in hd
Rayman Redemption will come...
Edit : it's out now

Damn that ghost Rayman kept getting me and I didnt realise u had to go backwards to spawn the floating gloves :'( never got past that bit!
At least there was no enemies in the bad rayman section such as the guys with the guns.
i can see why they picked sweets and treats for last area,, its hansel and gretle.. the house of sweets to lure the victims. it lured rayman there . if you saw this place in the distance would you say no lol.
wow!
When Rayman looks at the side, he looks like a CUTE LITTLE KINDERGARTNER 😍😍😍😍😍
When he's looking at the 4th wall, 😕😕😕😕
When you see the picture guy it means no good cuz it gets real hard then
Lets admit it everyone... You got hungry after seeing this
5:59 why am i forced to 100% just for 2 electoons to actually help
Imagine Mr dark in cuphead
Why didn't ubi soft make candy Cautheu longer like 10 stages instead measly 4.
Because Designer
Matthias Rivadeneira "Not enough storage.
Just one question...Where Mr.Dark went while he fight with his minions ? Is he escaped ?! o.o
Likely so
Gosh I miss this game
Band land made my hands sweat!
By far the most brutal level i have ever played.
@MRtetri5 It is a bit unsatisfying for one the hardest games of my childhood.
they need to make a direct sequel to rayman 2
That was the whole point of Rayman Origins and Legends :)
@@SilverStrumer
They're nothing like Rayman 1 though.
Launchedbyfrogs yup they are better
@@invaderzim1842
That's subjective.
omg i used to play this game so much with my sister when i was younger but we never got till the end /;
Is this the PAL version?

@MRtetri5 Yeah, I thought it was rushed and recycled. You could've actually fought Mr. Dark but he just runs away. Why was that?
Kristanni20X6 because hes a coward.

It's the last level of the blue mountains... I guess....
Is it just me, or does the ps1 dark rayman look different from the pc dark rayman?
