Rayman PSX - Candy Chateau & Ending

- The final challenge awaits Rayman.
Kind of an odd set of stages for a villain to have as his lair especially one called Mr. Dark, nevertheless all three of the stages provide a unique challenge.
The layout of each stage might be quite basic in appearance, but the challenge doesn't need to come from here.
The first you're riding a spoon over what appears to be cake, yes cake. You have to jump over holes and puddles of what looks like custard/jam.
The second stage you'll constantly be on the move as a Dark Rayman will follow you a few steps behind, if he touches you, you will die instantly. Just take it cautiously, particularly around the cakes with icing as they are slippery. If you find yourself cornered, you could always jump over him.
The third stage sees your left/right reversed for the bulk of the level. This is easy enough to adapt too, but like the previous level, slippery surfaces will be more troublesome. After you're about 2/3 of the way through the level your controls will be normalised. A few more steps and Mr. Dark will make you auto run to the right, so you have to keep jumping when necessary. This shouldn't prove a problem really as I regularly jump off much smaller ledges than on this stage throughout the walkthrough.
Now it's time for the boss(es). Dodge the flame walls and flame balls and grab the fist. The first boss is a combo of Mr. Stone and Mr. Skops. Stand so you're positioned on the symbol of Mr. Dark, over his left eye in fact. Jump just as he launches his claw and smack your fist out. As he retracts his claw, jump again and smack him again with your fist.
The second boss is a fusion of Space Mama and Moskito, duck near the middle and as they both approach the bottom, jump and launch your fist. You should jump over their dual shot, and hit the one you're facing. They may also occasionaly hit each other. Repeat until death.
The final boss....... a fusion of Mr. Sax, Moskito and Space Mama. You're also miniature, which is nice. Just keep running and jump up as this boss pounds the ground and smack it with your fist. Repeat until dead.
So you've beat the game, are treated to a firework display and some nice artwork during the credits, but what of Mr. Dark? Hopefully, he's finding a way to get rid of those Rabbids. - Ігри

If you think about it, you never actually kill Mister Dark. Just those weird boss-hybrid-abominations he throws at you. The sneaky fuck is still out there.
If you play Rayman Redemption then you actually get to kill the little twat for reals
Nor does he seem to pose a threat again despite the world being threatened by Hoodlums, rabbids, and robot pirates.
A bit of a disappointing end for such a viciously hard game...
it's not something that you think about once you get this far. just proud that you beat such a bitch of a game.

Mr.Dark was honestly really easy.
Just looking at this level gives me diabetes.
I's the perfect place for an villian to hide in, cause it's the last place you'd think a guy like 'Mr Dark' would be hiding at.
So this is where the Cosmic Clones in Super Mario Galaxy came from...
They probably took Dark Rayman as an inspiration
Back in 1997, I was with my mom at probably Circuit City in Kansas, when they were still around and I was saw this box for "Rayman." It said it ran on DOS/3.1 and that's what we had on my parents computer at home. This sales guy was getting grilled by my mom, she was asking him if it was "kid friendly" basically. He assured her it was and she actually bought the game for me.
Wow what an evil fucking game to get for your 8 year old son. This game was so horrifyingly frustrating and I played it on a keyboard for its entirety. I got to the end, but I don't think I ever beat it. Its probably the single hardest platformer I've ever played. It purposefully screws you over, the later boss fights are tough until you understand their patterns, the collision detection can be total BULLSHIT and the difficulty curve goes from easy to absolute train crash disaster like three or four levels in.

Wait .. THIS is the ending of the game i was addicted all my childhood? Just passed by 15 years later and I am disappointed haha.. just made it to the eraser pencil level..
Thankfully Rayman Redemption fixs that problem

i can see why they picked sweets and treats for last area,, its hansel and gretle.. the house of sweets to lure the victims. it lured rayman there . if you saw this place in the distance would you say no lol.
They need to remake this in hd

Damn that ghost Rayman kept getting me and I didnt realise u had to go backwards to spawn the floating gloves :'( never got past that bit!
At least there was no enemies in the bad rayman section such as the guys with the guns.

Personally I've never completed Rayman without abusing life-farming by using the Password system.
By far the coolest part of the game for me was the first encounter with skops, especially the music and the way you resist like a pest and make him raise the lava level just to get you. (Or is the cave actually collapsing?)
Why didn't ubi soft make candy Cautheu longer like 10 stages instead measly 4.

I noticed some versions have a picture of a sunbathing Space Mama in the "art-cube", which I assume got removed in other versions 'cause the series was a LOT more kid-friendly in the first game.
You'd think that stuff would be tolerable if it's put at the VERY end of a game that kids would never be able to beat until they hit 18 or so. Actually, there's an unused picture of Betilla having a cup of tea with a Hunter (The gun guy).
It's the last level of the blue mountains... I guess....

Thank god Redemption decide to add cutscenes inbetween fights with him and The Dark Chimera, and this time, after defeating The Dark Chimera, he fights rayman more personally.

Even though Rayman Redemption is longer, atleast it fixs the boss fight agaisnt Mr. Dark while adding a last encounter battle for Bad Rayman in a Doppelganger style side scroller fight

His boss fight in Redemption has been upgraded with The Dark Chimera being Phase 1 that is, until the second phase is where the real fight begins and in the last of his hp, he ACTUALLY uses the Great Protoons power
