These guys just had hit after hit after hit. Takes me back to being a kid in my mum's V8 Kingswood yelling along with Doc at the top of our lungs. Their music never ages...it just rides alongside us as we take that ride called life
RIP Doc, He was one of a kind, I've seen the Angels live over 20 times since 1979, I've clinked glasses with Doc at after party's downing Whiskey's, head banged in front of the speakers at many concerts, He was a legend as was the band
@@littlejohnsbrewing9199 1st CD I got (just bought a TEAC unit complete with CD - about the first in the area I reckon) and it was Liveline - Double album bonus :)
Bands these days are lucky to put out one decent album. These guys put out five brilliant albums in a row the last of those being Night Attack . There were plenty more to follow probably not as brilliant but still bloody good. They truly were a magnificent band .
Great Song. Pivotal point for the Angels was when they left Albert Music and signed with Epic. In hindsight it cost the Band as opposed to the Songwriters hip pockets. The politics and resultant band line up changes perhaps could have been avoided had they have stuck with Albert. The rest is history. Possibly far more original than ac/dc but lacked the opportunities to go to the highest level. The best live act ever!!!
Jeffrey, they are known to Australians as The Angels. In the US, they were known as Angel City. Many Australian bands were badly mismanaged when they signed international contracts and went to the US, most (unfairly)failed due to bad management. They were named Angel City to avoid any issues with glam rockers, Angel, who were signed with Casablanca records. Many Angels albums released in the US are compilations of their Australian albums, ie, songs from different albums all got chucked on one. You mention 1980, The Angels released their successful Dark Room album in Australia. The North American and European versions of Darkroom appeared in October 1980 under the band name, Angel City, and used a different track listing. In addition to being re-sequenced, "Alexander" and "I'm Scared", were removed, and "Ivory Stairs" and "Straight Jacket" (which had been issued on previous Australian albums) were added. The cover art shows a colour photo of a person with blue eyes instead of the black-and-white shot on the original. "No Secrets" was issued internationally, late in 1980, but it did not chart. "No Secrets" was a number 8 hit in Australia and probably the best all round track off the album. The fact it did not chart internationally shows just how incompetent management was. "Ivory Stairs" was from the 1979 album Out of the Blue, and "Straight Jacket" was from the 1978 album "Face to Face". Feel free to check out my Angels playlist, link below. I have fixed up and remastered many of their videos, if you like Face The Day, you will like whats on my list which includes a quality copy of the Face the Day video. ua-cam.com/play/PLpgTLHo8cx8PEVGxmUjO3YoX2WnVQOXJ4.html
A definite Aussie classic. Blows chunks, hard to date, never gets old, and always relevant.
They blew everyone away live. Untouchable in the 80s.

Grew up listening to this band on WBCN.
Like so many... another day to face.
One of the best Aussie Albums ever. Best live band I've ever seen (multiple times)
No one rocked live like The Angels.....10 times better live than in the studio. 'Liveline' has to be the greatest piece of live music ever.

The bridge in this is brilliant.

The one and only DOC the best frontman ever RIP and thanks for all the memories
There was no one like him then and no one like him since. He reinvented the role.
One of the best bridge sections in any rock song - from 2:55

An Incredible Song and One Of The Angels Gr8est. An Amazingly Powerful Song about Facing-Up to Life's Realities.
best Australian band ever poet on stage
So glad I found this. Used to love this song (& do again) but only heard it on the radio & had no idea who did it.
Doc waz awesome
Great band unknown to those that THINK they know music & bands.
Exactly. If you know this band, you know music.
Some might consider them AC/DC light, but no- much more melodic, musical dynamics.
Let There Be Rock!
Even better than Let there be rock ; )
Unqualified brilliance!

RIp Neeson Australian Rock god some days I don’t want to face....
Ah... Here's the version I've been searching for.
His voice at times reminds me of Alice Cooper and then that one spot it's Tom Petty. Love It !

Why in 1980 in Portland Oregon they were known as Angel City and not the Angels?
